Default Leftover Calories

If you have leftover calories at the end of the day and you're already full, do you eat those calories or just leave it as is? I've been getting into strength training and I want to eat enough calories, but I'm always full at the end of the day, and I feel that I have to keep eating regardless. I'm going to try eating more earlier in the day, but I'm also really full after I eat, then, too.

I have a set amount of calories for each day, and the number varies depending on several factors.

I also have a set number (or range) for each week that does not vary much at all. So any leftover calories I have I log in its own column and that's my "extra" calories. So if I'm hungrier one day, I'll eat more and take it out of the "extra." These do not roll over into next week, though (that's too messy).

Maybe try that approach? Then you can get all your calories for the week in, but you can eat more on days you're hungrier.

I used to fall into this trap all the friggin time.

I would hoard my calories and skimp at meals because I was terrified of getting near my daily calorie limit... I guess I was scared that I'd be starving and not have enough calories left to eat something...

Now, I make sure to eat a good breakfast. Sometimes up to 500 calories worth. Eating more earlier in the day tends to keep me full for longer periods of time and reduces my impulse to snack and binge at lunch or dinner.

I've also noticed that I lose more consistently when I eat all my calories. So, I make a huge effort to get as close to my daily limit as possible.

Same here. I find that balancing my calories throughout the day (about 500 cals for each meal and an extra 500 for snacks) leaves me feeling most satisfied. I also happen to love breakfast and to be hungry in the morning, so I have no trouble consuming a 500 calorie breakfast.

F.

p.s. I must say, I never feel "too full" to eat my caloric limit. NEVER.

This is what I do. Only once have I gone into the next week, and that's when I overate one week; I shaved that amount off my following week's total.

for me,,,i don't eat any more if i am full. i always save 200 calories after dinner. most of the time i use them even if it's a glass of skim milk.

That's how I've been lately. and though I'm doing 1200 cals a day, I'm sometimes under calorie and if I'm not hungry by the end of the night, I'm just too afraid to eat any further. So, I don't and like JennaR says, if I eat my full calories, I lose more consistently too.

But, Thanks nicolebug, I'm going to take your advice, I think that's a great idea, will just drink a glass of milk.

Depends on the day and how I feel in the moment. If I don't feel well and I've eaten 800 calories, I'm content to just go to bed and deal with it the next day when I'll probably be hungry. Sometimes I go over 1400. It all seems to work out. I rarely MAKE myself eat my target...generally I'm hitting it.

If I'm not too far below (more than 200 calories or so), I just leave it as is. I don't want to force myself to eat if I'm not hungry since that's part of what got me here. Plus I figure that I have days where I go over also, so it evens out in the end. But if I'm really low I do have a snack.

I'm not often "too full" to eat my calories...

I would leave them. It rarely happens for me but when it does, I don't worry about it. I might actually use them the next day.

I calorie cycle, try to stay under my calorie goal four days a week & then let myself go over calorie goal for three days a week.

So I guess it all evens out in the end.
