Funny how the article states she lost the weight "the old fashioned way." At its most basic, I KNOW that I KNEW it was all about reduced calories--but it just never clicked because in the past I had always followed a "named" plan. Those named plans are gimmicky and shroud the basic truth----consume less calories. For me, realizing that has been a true eye opener---a real "duh" moment! Voila. No wonder why. But, of course!!! Old fashioned way--indeed. Pretty darned simple---and we learned it in elementary health, P.E. and science classes. How did I lose track of that information? I bought into the glamorous gimmicks and promises of commercial weight loss plans/products--lose weight fast--celebrity endorsements--the "dumbing down" of calorie counting into supplements, or exchanges or points. I was duped.
I have to agree on calorie counting/low carb being an excellent combination. For me tho, low carb is having less pasta, rice, potatoes, etc. <---that sort of thing. I'm talking about the "white" foods. I know there are diets that focus on protein and label all carbs bad, but I can't get that into it.
I am a self-professed pasta junkie. I've said "I could eat macaroni daily" - and admit that I'd eat it many times during the week. Totally by surprise I've noticed my pasta desires have dwindled in the past 2 months, and I can only attribute that to the foods I am eating. So, I'm low carb by accident and reaping the benefits...
