1500 calories a day is good. I lost 1 pound a week eating that.
But when I started to exercize I had to up the calories because I got weak and very hungry. I record my food and exercize on LoseIt.com It is very helpful to me. It tells me how many calories I burn doing my exercize. I don't exercize to lose weight. I do it to strengthen my leg muscles. I had a knee injury. With the exercize I do now, I eat almost 1700 calories a day. And I still lose 1 pound a week. Slow, I know, but it is still 50 pounds a year. :woops::bike2::tread::ebike: I'm on the No Crap diet. |
i wouldnt go over 1500...1500 is good.

Does that seem rite 4 my height and weight?

Depending on your age, you might be able to lose eating more than that. Especially with that much exercise. I say try 1500 and see what happens. You can add more if you're losing too fast or drop down if you aren't losing enough.
There isn't a magic number for everyone. Sometimes it takes a little trial and error to find what works. I think 1500 is a good place to start. |
I think it sounds about right. Give it a try for a few weeks.

I agree with Zenor. It's all trial and error. A good base too would be to find a calorie calculator on google and input your activity level, age, height, etc. See what it says. From there you play around with it.
I'm about 4 inches shorter than you and I generally eat around 1500, sometimes more and still lose pretty well. |

It's giving you high numbers because you are tall and young. It's also based on weight. The more you weigh, the more you can eat and still lose.
I'm shorter, older and I'm losing eating 2000 calories. Granted, I'm still breastfeeding, which burns some calories. I'm not exercising like you are though. I'm lucky if I can squeeze a mile walk in 3x a week. You may be surprised at how much you can eat and still lose. Pre-baby, when I first lost weight, I think I was eating 1600 calories at your current weight. I was 30 and not exercising. So, the online calculators may be correct. The only way to know is to try. :) |
I started out in Jan with 1400 to 1600. Occasionally, I would dip below to 1200. I joined a gym and worked with a trainer. She advised me 1200 was way to low for anyone and that she didn't eat that low to maintain. She encouraged me to eat 1400 to 1500. She also recommended I eat 5 times a day. She said it helps you lose fat not muscle to spread out my eating. It is working for me. I have lost 86 pounds. I agree with everyone above find what works for you. If unsure consult Dr. or nutritionist. Good luck and be healthy.

Just remember. Burn more calories than you take in and you will lose weight. Just don't starve yourself in the process.
