Help with calorie cycling

  • I decided to try calorie cycling for a couple of weeks. Yesterday was supposed to be a high day but I ended up going 522 calories over my goal. I'm just wondering if the best thing to do is just keep going like it didn't happen or deduct those calories from the next 4 days. If I divide the 522 by 4 then I can deduct that number and still stay above 1200 calories every day. Then that still leaves me with the same number of calories for the week.
  • I would just start fresh today and not worry about it. It was supposed to be a high day anyway, and in the grand scheme of things an extra 500 calories isn't going to ruin your week.
  • I usually try my best to do as you described & cut back a bit over the rest of the week. If I don't succeed 100%, that's fine, but having that as a goal usually results in me eating fewer calories than I would have if I just started anew.

I am also a calorie cycler and I try to limit the rest of the week if I go way over on a high day, which just happened last week. I didn't totally hit my goal but I did better than I would have if I had just started over. I was pretty happy with how the week went overall.
