Question Anyone else living overseas and trying to count calories???

Hi All!

I am new to 3fc and to calorie counting and decided to recommit myself to losing weight once and for all. I live in Africa and I am finding that it is VERY difficult to count calories here! Nobody uses recipes and it's very difficult to say what has gone into different meals (I frequently have to travel and eat what's offered to me as it would be insulting to my hosts if I didn't!). And I won't bore you with my search for a scale - quite a saga to say the least - though I did finally manage to get a scale and weigh myself this morning!

I'm just wondering if anyone else is trying to count calories while living overseas? How is it working out for you? Any tips or tricks that you can share?

Thanks!

Hey Pochamma,
My life is completely non-exotic but there is a thread for people living overseas and dealing with those challenges. I'm sure they have ideas for you:

Thanks so much Midwife for pointing me to this thread - it's great to find others dealing with similar issues.

Midwife - it's in the eye of the beholder! I haven't Googled them and I have no idea what these burritos and nachos you mention sometimes are. Strange, perhaps, but true.

Thought that would make you laugh!

Pochamma - good luck! So lovely to be in a different culture.
