So, it wasn't so much a "slip" but more of a conscious choice to jump...
Let me give you a little history...
Last monday my youngest daughter Faith (5) woke up with a fever, and complaining of a sore throat. Took her in to the doctor and were told she had tonsillitis. Got appropriate antibiotics, and home we went. The next morning my older daughter London (7) woke up with a seriously high fever ( 103.7) and a sore throat. So, in we go to the clinic....yup tonsillitis, get appropriate antibiotics, and go home. So we battle for a couple of days, then the rash appears. I take her in to the doc again, but I know what she's going to say....sure enough "Scarlet Fever". She has to be off school until Monday. So, time goes on, everyone's better, and done their antibiotics on on Saturday. My youngest daughter promptly comes down with a cold. So the night before last, she starts complaining that her throat hurts...since my older daughter had Scarlet Fever, our doctor wanted her heart checked when she was done antibiotics. So we took both of the girls in to the clinic last night. London's heart is great (whew), but Faith has tonsillitis again. The medication they gave her is orange/raspberry flavoured (which I didn't realize until we got home), and she's allergic to oranges. The pharmacy assures me there is no real orange in the medication, and while she woke up with 2 suspicious spots, I will keep her on the meds until I know for sure she's having a reaction (or not).
So, between waiting at the clinic for 2 kids, rather than 1, waiting for prescriptions to be filled, and the 40 minute drive each way, from our house to the city, I told my husband we could stop for fast food for supper. All last week, with the stress and chaos I stayed on plan, but last night I made a choice to go off plan (quite fantastically too). I am back on track today, with a sick kid at home again (sigh). Now we're just hoping my older daughter doesn't get it again, because we don't want to go through Scarlet Fever again!!
LOL trust me, it's been tempting to have a drink or 2. Granted, last week I saved enough calories in the day, and had a beer at night. It was a nice little treat!
So? I think you are still on plan. Some days you eat to lose and call it success. Some days you eat to maintain and call it success. Life doesn't stop just because we are dieting.
Sounds like with all the kid's stuff going on, it had to be a day to eat to maintain. So there isn't much to "confess" here -- you handled it. Carry on as usual.
Thanks so much everyone. Oddly I didn't feel guilty, I just said to myself "this probably isn't the best idea, but sometimes we need to take the easy way, and this is one of those days", I had NO problem with getting back on track...
And, let me tell you, that burger didn't taste nearly as good as I expected it to!
I hope that the kids feel better soon and that you don't catch it. My son had Scarlett Fever when he was in second grade- not fun!
Don't worry about the one day off plan. Stuff like this happens and we can't predict when it happens. So long as you keep doing what you're doing and getting back on plan as soon as possible, one little "off course" meal won't do you in.
Good job getting right back on plan! It definitely sounds like you did the best you could, you were dealing with a TON! Hope both girls are on the mend!
