Default Protein powder?

Feeling the effects of my low cal diet and major weightloss. I have no energy and can barely excersise. Do you think adding a scoop of whey protein powder to my day would help?
I would be willing to add in an extra 130 calories a day if this would help my overall wellness and ability to function normally and be active again. I just don't want a gain! Someone please help! I'm lost and hate this feeling. Weak and saggy is no fun!

Also I don't understand protein powder, couldn't I just eat more protein foods and get the same?

I was having the same problem too awhile ago, and my therapist suggested a nutritionist and it really helped. maybe you should talk to a therapist or nutritionist? It doesn't seem like you're anywhere near your maintenance range. I don't want to jump to conclusions, I don't know your situation, but it doesn't seem (from where i'm standing) that you're at sustainable weight.

I just checked your BMI and it seems you are about 7 lbs from being underweight. I would slowly add back 100-200 calories and make sure you are getting your calories from nutrient-dense foods. You should be able to slowly add back some calories without gaining. If you are not feeling well, you have to change something. I hope some maintainers jump in and give you an idea of what calorie allotment they are using to maintain. Hope you feel better soon!

I drink a protein shake after I workout since it's supposed to help repair muscles. I don't really notice it giving me energy, but I don't take it for that.

since you are maintaining, maybe you can up your calories a bit? it's kinda hard to get enough protein sometimes, so the powders do help if you aren't eating enough. the protein powder would also add some extra calories, so maybe it would be a good idea for you.

Hi I hope you are feeling better- it's been a few day's since you posted. If this loss of energy persists you may need to check with your doctor. Just to make sure your electrolytes- potassium, etc. is not off. I would drink lots of fluids...gatoraid even. Also a nice steak dinner wouldn't hurt you a bit! Congratulations on your weight loss- but your health is the most important thing

I started adding a scoop of whey protein powder into a smoothie for breakfast, and I have noticed I have more energy through out the day. I take a multivitamin and drink lots and lots of water too.
