I think I'm stuck

  • I've been calorie counting since 6/6/10, at first with a food diary, and now using Lose It! app for iphone. I've also been doing Jillian Michael's 30 day shred for about four-five days a week since 7/7/10. I've lost 10lbs so far, but I've been stuck at 159 for about a week-week and a half. According to Lose It! for me to lose 2lb a week, I should be eating around 1100 cal a day when I'm not working out and about 1350 when I do.

Any ideas? Should I just keep doing what I'm doing? My exercise shouldn't be making me plateau because I do 10 workouts on Level 1, and 10 on level two, so it's not the same workout.
  • Not sure I have the answer to your question, but just wanted to say....WOW!!!10 POUNDS...GOOD FOR YOU!!!
  • if you're actually eating 1100 calories when you don't work out, then you're probably in starvation mode. And adding a new work out makes anyone stop losing, whether you change it up or not. It will balance out eventually, if you continue the work-out (but not if you continue to eat so few calories). When I was around your size, I ate 1400 and lose 2lbs/week.

Also, every woman has a week each month when they don't lose anything. Some it's a week before her period, some during, some the week after. It's normal.
  • I'm so jealous....I wish I could get closer to 10! Our bodies are strange creatures sometimes. Keep doing what you're doing but the key is to keep your body guessing.
  • hey ctripp- I also wanted to say congrats on the 10 lbs! I'm actually in your neck of the woods, in Va. Bch. Sounds like we have similar stats. I'm 5'4 and have been stuck between 156-158 for about 2 months now! I spent about 2 months trying to lose on 1100 calories. When I bumped it up to 1500, I've found more success. I've tried the 30day shred but haven't made it past 3 days yet because I get so bored! I had a lot of success with the c25k program though. Good luck neighbor!
  • Hey, another Virginian! I weighed myself again today, and I'm at 157 so now it's 12lbs. At least it moved again, and in the right direction.
I will try to add a little bit of calories. It's almost a little difficult to do, I'm scared it'll slow it down, but I do know the risk of messing up my metabolism.

On the other hand, I'm very excited. I've been struggling with weight since I had my daughter 3 1/2 years ago. I've tried a lot of stuff, except cutting calories accurately AND exercising routinely.

A lot of times I don't want to workout, but then I make myself. I had insomnia and I've been sleeping much better since working out.

Thanks for the replys and congrats
  • congrats on the good weigh in! I hear you about not wanting to work out..I travel throughout the region (from Norfolk to Williamsburg, OBX, and basically everywhere in between) and when I get home, it's the last thing I want to do!
