Time to Cut Calories

  • After looking through different areas on the site, I think I am a calorie counter for sure.

I knew I gained all this weight from unhealthy habits. For a couple days last week, I counted everything I consumed. I consumed 4000 calories in a day. No freaking wonder I gained so much weight. Most of it was from colas. So starting this week, I have cut the amount of calories I consume in half. (I have replaced colas with soda water with fresh lemon. Yum.) In another week or so, I will cut another 200.

I am getting a bootcamp DVD this week and will do P90x after I do the bootcamp DVD. I have goals, just am going slow to because I want this to be a lifestyle not a quick fix. So I think I shall be checking in here if thats okay.
  • Yeah I hear ya! I just joined this site yesterday. I ate what I normally do (so far today since I haven't even had supper yet) and then came home and added up the calories. I am already at 1700 and I do not drink calories AT ALL. No wonder I weigh 150 instead of 130. I have been reading all over this site and I think I need to plan/pack my food the night before in order to stick to a plan.
  • It amazes me (and scares me) how easy it really is to eat/drink all those calories if you don't pay attention. I am bound and determined to make a lifestyle change...not just achange to lose weight.
  • I joined yesterday too. Your start weight and height are really close to mine! This is my second day counting my calories and I am loving it. It's really been easy so far. The counting and planning actually helps me keep mind off of some other things I have going on. Good luck!
  • We can keep each other motivated.

I think you're right, when I am able to plan my meals and see what I've eaten compared to what I have left for calories, it makes me more aware the next day. And I love it.
  • I wish I could make money as fast I can calories, would be great!
  • Well, today I obviously did not do so well..but now I think I have a better handle on how many calories I have actually been eating. WOW.

My plan is to have my food for my work day laid out on my kitchen counter before I go to bed....that way I will know exactly how many calories I am eating BEFORE I eat them, you know?

I just read on another thread where someone had set an exercise goal of 1000 minutes for the month of July. How cool! I tend to set goals for myself like to exercise 30 minutes a day. Then when I have a couple of non-exercise days I give up. However setting one big goal like that with no strings attached might really work.
  • I did okay. Just under 2000. (From 4000 to 2000. I think I did well).Laying it out should make lunches easier.
Id like to set an exercise goal. I am hoping to start later this week, just want to get my eating in control. Maybe I will shoot for 500 minutes. And work up from there.
  • Great ideas in this thread. I had noticed peoples work out goals as well... I really like them.
