Default Protein Shakes

Do you drink em? I haven't considered it until now but I really don't think my protein intake is enough. So what do you guys think? I'm just hoping to get some thoughts and opinions about the matter

I just started a week ago. I use Muscle Milk LIGHT, dark chocolate. I get it at Smoothie King. I believe that I have more energy as a result of using it. I'm trying to stay at 1200 calories and the shake makes that easier and gives more protein than I get otherwise.

Thanks for the info! Is there a specific time of day you drink it? Also, how many calories is it per serving?

I drink them every other day, for convenience and added nutrition. I don't buy the pre-made ones, as they have added chemicals and sugar. I make mine at home before leaving the house. It stays frozen and ice-creamy for over 2 hours. I use Jillian Michaels Whey Protein (Vanilla or Chocolate) and is all natural, no fake stuff, sweetened with a Stevia Leaf and delicious. The vanilla I use 1 scoop protein, 8 oz Coconut Milk or Almond Milk, 1/2 frozen banana, and 2 frozen strawberries, ice and blend up. The chocolate I use 1 scoop, plus the same milk, 1/2 frozen banana, a few almonds or walnuts, ice and blend. Delicous and only 250 calories.

I personally can't stand them, they all taste so fake and icky to me. I've tried them all, syntha-6 (dessert - vanilla), muscle milk (light and regular) and even some more natural ones made from hemp or soy.

Unless you are blending them with fruit and get a natural/unflavored kind the taste can be grosss.

yes, i love them! you have to be VERY careful though because some of them are absolutely LOADED with sugar...yeah...not good. Pure Protein are one of the better ones...they taste good have a TON of protein and only have 2g of sugar.

Drinking calories never satisfies me. Egg whites are almost pure protein: baked chicken breast or fish are 80% protein. Two baked tilapia fillets are under 200 calories and have 40 grams of protein and that's an extra meal.

But that's just me. I really, really like to eat.

Thanks for all your input! I think I'm going to try the Jillian Michaels one because it's a small container and only ten bucks if I go to Walmart in the states. I actually don't know where around here they sell it.. and ordering it off her website it would cost me $22 with shipping. It's cheaper for me to drive across the border and get it because I was planning on making a trip out anyways!

I order protein shakes from dietdirect and am using the wonderslim brand. 100 calories, 7 grams of carbs and 15 grams of protein. I like all the flavors except strawberry cream (not to be confused with strawberry yogurt smoothie, that is delicious)
