Default What are some lunch ideas?

I know that there are some at the top of the page but I'm looking for something more...non-microwavable or salad-y (I'm not a big fan of salads just yet). I've been having sandwiches for the past like month and yesterday I just felt the sandwich turn to dirt in my mouth, I didn't want to eat any more I got so sick of sandwiches. I took a fluff and jelly sandwich today (I measured stuff out but...it's not really nutritionally sound, it is?) and it kind of...exploded in my back pack so that's not really something I enjoyed. I don't really have that much access to a microwave (well if I want to be waiting for about half of the lunch block) but I'm wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

Are you a student or do you work? When you pack, do you pack just lunch or lunch and snacks?

I like lots of little bits of things - a piece of cheese or some cheese and meat rolled up, a boiled egg, some grapes, cut veg with hummus to dip, a few nuts. A few pieces of sushi or edamame in the pod. I like odds and ends. I'm a sucker for bento boxes or cool lunch boxes. In the past when I've been successful with weight loss, planning my lunch and snacks played such a huge part. I like something that's visually appealing, kind of neat, and has choices built in!

Hmm...I never thought of packing little things! I usually pack like a sandwich and a little bag of crackers. I don't have any snacks at school (I'm a student) because I'm normally comfortable from breakfast up until lunch and then after school I'll have like a cheese stick or an apple sauce just to have a snack after school and then I'll have dinner and a little something for a small dessert.

What about happy little bento? LOL I love that site!

I wish I had all the cute little boxes and everything for my lunch. The ziplock ones get so boring.

Caprese salad (It's not *really* a salad, lol) - slices of tomato and fresh mozzarella with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and basil

Pasta salad made with equal ammounts whole wheat pasta and mixed veggies, tossed in light italian dressing

Mixed fruits with some sort off deli meat on the side in roll-ups

Shrimp cocktail

A hummus plate with pita. veggies, etc

3 bean salad (again, not a traditional "salad" type salad - mixed beans with corn, cilantro, and dressing is my fave)

Vegetable gazpacho

Mixed nuts, cheese, and apple slices/grapes

I like veggies and dip.

Crackers and humus

Stone wheat thins and peanut butter

Crackers and laughing cow cheese

Hard boiled eggs

Sushi - don't limit yourself to fish, leftover chicken, beef and veggies are good too.

I like to make my own lunchables. I like crackers, a bit of sharp aged cheddar, then either deli meat or my favourite chorizio sausage or turkey peperoni.

I will often mix up 4 eggs, feta cheese, whatever vegetables in the fridge with tuna or bacon or ham or chicken and put in a cooking dish (like a cake tin) and cook. It comes out like a frittata and i take 1/4 to work each day

What wonderful ideas for lunch! I usually just do a salad. My favorite is my Buffalo Chicken Ceaser Salad. I so simple. Mixed green or romaine salad (about 2 cups full), precooked sliced chicken breast (about 100g) grilled with Franks Hot Sauce, tossed in a Fat Free Ceasar dressing (about 1 TBSP or less). Topped with a sprinkle of low fat cheese.

Mmmmm.

That is hilarious that so many suggested Bento boxes! As soon as I read your post that is what popped into my head! I thought, "she needs to do a Bento box." They are so fun.

Google fun bento box ideas and you'll be blown away!

Thanks! I actually (again) didn't realize anybody else had posted here. These are some really good ideas I took some pretzels and hummus today, my mom actually got me a cute little single serving container and it tasted so much better than a sandwich. I looked into bento boxes and I will most definitely be asking for one for my birthday and then using some google-ideas for it. They are very cute.
