Hello,

I've been wanting to join this challenge for the past few days. Okay, since it started! But the problem is that I haven't actually weighed myself for a week, so I don't know my start weight for the challenge. EEk! I'm usually quite the obsessive weigher, and this has me very upset. Things have just taken priority over weighing (I've been going out with my nieces and helping babysit every day for the past week) . So, can I still join? Should I make a educated guess at my weight, or just stick with my last known one? It was 111.6 lbs. Heck if I know what I even want to get to on Arbor Day. I'm so mixed up! I guess I'll say I'd like to lose 4.6 lbs and make it a nice 107 lbs. That would be so close to goal!

Oh yes, and I'd still like to fit into those size two pants! Anyone know of a good store to try those on at? I usually shop at Target and Old Navy, but I heard they practice "vanity sizing" so I'm afraid I'm not getting a true size. I would try other stores at the mall, but I'm afraid I'm too old.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm sorry I'm starting so late and asking so many questions!

MrsLovett - definitely join! Maybe make it a non-weight loss challenge - have a different goal, like X workouts per week or X days on eating plan per week. I think I threw in three goals - one of mine IS weight loss but that's because I've got a lot to lose!

JiggleFree - if I may make just one suggestion on the resistance training (and this is only because I've now heard it from ALL the trainers at the gym) - make sure you've got enough resistance! You're probably a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for - we women tend to do that - and you may be working out with bands and/or weights that are not challenging enough for you. Take me as a prime example - today at the gym, I was doing lateral raises with 10lb dumbbells. A trainer walks by with his client and just says very quietly "Try 15's" - now he's seen me there many times so I'm not a total stranger, but I haven't trained with him. I'm thinking - no way, I can't do lateral raises with 15lbs in each hand, my arms will simply drop off. But I see him watching me so I dutifully get up and grab some 15's and figure I'll crank out three reps and call it gravy. 12 reps later I am simultaneously thrilled and annoyed with myself - thrilled I did it and annoyed I've been faffing around with weights that are too light for the last two weeks! Anyway - just my observation from people far more educated than me!

My quinoa chicken veggie salad is so darn good, I've had to eat with my left hand to avoid simply shoveling it in and not really tasting it. Definitely will be making this again - and I very carefully calculated the calories and it's just under 350 per serving. And a lot of protein with chicken, quinoa and beans. So good... I might even forget to hate Mondays. :)

OH! And I meant to say - we booked our summer vacation so now the challenges will be SUPER important to help me stay motivated! DH and I are doing a Mexican Riviera cruise with another couple - it's the same cruise we did for our honeymoon seven years ago but this time it's a larger, newer ship and with our friends, it'll be a different experience. But we are doing a zip line and I refuse to stuff my fat behind into a harness. And I want to snorkel and kayak and not worry about fitting into a life jacket or a kayak!

MrsLovett- Your almost the same size as me, I'm 5'3 and weigh 108. I like Target's jeans, I take a size 1 in the Mossimo brand. I do think they run a little small though cause I take a 0 in other brands, even Levi's. Good luck with the challenge!

fruitlady 03-22-2010 04:23 PM

I'm going real good today(1050 cal.), my weight has been creeping up slowly, only a 1/2 lb. because I have been going over my calorie limit a little for the past two days. Back to it today, no more nibbling. I want to make it to 105lbs. (my feel good weight)for the challenge. 3 lbs. to go!

MrsLovett 03-22-2010 05:01 PM

fruitlady: I *wish* I were a size 1 or 0 :( In Target, last time I tried some Mossimo jeans on I think I was still a size 3... it hasn't changed in quite some time. Nor have my measurements.

I thought of a goal though! I've gotten away from calorie counting a little bit, so I'd like to get back on track. I'd like to count calories at least 3 days a week. I'm going to have to write all of this down. Thank you, everyone, for the ideas!

MrsLovett- you will be in a size 0 or 1 when you get down to your goal of 105lbs. I was in a size 3 also at your weight(which isn't far from my weight), You'll be there in no time, I know you will! 105 is my feel good weight( I've been there)I need to get there again!

UGHH I was very disappointed when I weighed myself this morning to see I had gone from 202.6 to 203 lbs. Hopefully tomorrow I see better results!

That doesn't look too bad! Keeping it to around $20, I think you could reasonably go with the grilled chicken or grilled salmon (sub veggies for the potatoes), any salad with dressing on the side, or the minestrone soup with a lighter appetizer. I love prosciutto with cantaloupe, and I can almost guarantee it's calories are super light. The scallops are probably fairly light, too, even being pan seared. Good luck!

My daily check in. I ended the day at 1635 calories today. A little higher than usual, but not too terrible in the grand scheme of things. For exercise I did Denise Austin's Interval Training Cardio with ab focus. When I finished it I felt like I still had some energy in me so I did Treadmill for a little over a mile.

Today has been weird-ish for me. I can't really describe it, but I feel like it's just not working anymore. I don't feel thinner anymore. Maybe it's because I haven't had any exciting weigh-ins in a couple of weeks. I don't know how to describe it. I hope tomorrow is better, though. I guess I could go ahead and weigh in earlier than my usual Friday weigh in, but I'm afraid if it were UP instead, it may really discourage me.

Oh well, off to bed I go so hopefully I'll be better tomorrow.

I drank 16 (8oz) classes of water yesterday and wow did I need it. I lost 2lbs of bloat just by doing that and getting back to CC. I went over my calories but didn't binge and walked around campus. I"ll be doing that again today with the water, it's a natural cleanser. Now I need to find the motivation to work out. I decided to be realistic this challenge considering from start to finish I would have to lose 8lbs and unless I'm really being strict with CC and working out, it's just not going to happen with school and only 6 weeks left. So to lose 5lbs it very possible considering most of it was bloat from my week off. The coffee hasn't kicked in yet so I'm dragging.....

KDM322: Happy late Birthday! I wouldn't worry about the 2lbs, you had a great time with your husband, I know what that's like to have a few bottles of wine with the man for a lil celebration. You diserve some enjoyment. And I LOVE HUNGRY GIRL! Seriously I get the emails everyday, that has helped me out so much through my progress. Your Upside Down Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake sounds deeeeeelish!

shan84: That's awesome you walk to work! I was wondering if you wouldn't mind giving the recipe for your burritos...the bf yesterday said he wanted mexican this week and I'm trying to be good...thanks! And you will see results from your hard work. Good Luck!

MrsLovett: My Dear we need to have a lil chit chat about size...I'm going to try and make it short and sweet and then we can a "Coffee Talk" more about it later. To be honest unless you have a pair of pants from the 80's, you will never find a "true" size 2. You can try stores that seem to run smaller than the avg. store and that may be your best bet and you are NOT too old to shop at those places trust me...your beautiful and you shop where ever you are happiest at. Ok so for my first example lets take Express.....According to their chart if I go by my waist size I'm a size 8-10 in their jeans, however if I go by my hips I'm below a size 0 there....:?:...I'm apple shaped so my acutal size jean I wear at Express is a size 4 jean there with extra room, a size 2 is a lil snug the last time I was there, (maybe they fit better now). You have to go by your body structure and fit, so try Express, American Eagle, Banana Republic...they seem to run small. I know what you mean by wanting to fit into a certain size, I have a pair of capris from 7 years ago that I want to fit into, but I want to "fit" not size. When you find a great pair of jeans, even if they are a bigger size, and you fit amazing in them...oh trust me...the men don't care about the tag, they love the bootie in them! ;) I have way more info if you want to discuss later, bone structure and size (I've done alot of research). Hope this helps :)

jules: If you stick to salads with protein, dressing on the side (dipping your fork in the dressing and then into your salad), and get ALL CHEESE and croutons away!(but i get the cheese on the side and only put about 1/4 the amount on my salad) Sorry to say but those really pack on the calories. I like what ValentineNicole suggested, she's got great ideas...I hope it goes well!

fruitlady: You are very tiny! :smug: I understand about nibbling, Kee up the good work!

ap90: Hope you feel better today. You will lose it don't stress!

Lori259: Hope you feel better. And the bloat will go down cuz you're one SEXY mamma!:D

susieyarb: You are doing awesome! You are working out more, eating better and changing your body so you maybe gaining some nice lean muscle, which burns calories when you are at rest, problem is it weighs more than fat so that maybe a factor in you not losing weight like you want to. measure inches to check your progress and from all your posts, you should be very proud...well all are. :)

I hope everyone has a great day. I'm going to drink some more coffee and hope it kicks in more. I'll be on here later.
