  • Good Morning Ladies

Can't believe that it Sept. where did the summer go,not looking forward to the dark cold days ahead for us. I guess some of you are probably getting ready for college or started already. Hope some of will still stay with the chat and post when ever you can, even if its just a check in.

Sorry for being MIA,but I was feeling under the weather the whole weekend long. Still not feeling well,so I'm going to take it easy on my high calorie & low calorie day plan.

Going to try some thing new with my calorie counting I'm going on a semi low carb counting. Not going on any low carb plan, but I'm going to eat low carb breads, instead of the high ones etc.

Have a wonderful week & month ahead. Looking forward to seeing your posts.
  • I am so frustrated. I am 151.6 again. I really don't understand it. I've gone back and looked at my stats from when I was losing weight and there really isn't a difference. I'm doing everything.

I drink 60-70 oz of water
    I watch my sodium
I allow only a quarter or less of my calories for a "treat" (per jillian micheals)
    I vary my intake.
My calorie deficit averages right at 1000 calories a day.
I workout every day except monday (rest day)

The ONLY thing I can think of is to eat more so that my deficit is only 500 a day and see if that works.

I'm going to post this on the plateau thread too but I thought I could use all the support possible.

    Recent Weights
    8/17 151.4
8/24 151.6 (avg deficit for the week before was almost 1200 calories)
8/31 151.4 (avg deficit for the week before was 1090)

BTW, my sparkpeople entries are all public. So if anyone wants to look at my food that's fine.
  • hi...I have been MIA also. Life is hetic and busy. I havent done to good watching my calories the past 3 days.It was a busy family filled weekend that spilled into yesterday.I loved having my adult children home, but why is so much food involved??
My goals for sept are: eat only 1500 calories per day,not sure if Im cycling yet
exercise at least 35 min per day
    drink my water
    stay focused!!

Im so in the mood for fall and it sure feels like early fall in KY. I have candles burning this morning and my house smells wonderful.I think I will drag out some fall decorations today also.
  • It looks as if several of us are seeing slow or no progress right now. I just edited my mini-goal and it is probably still way too optimistic, but will try to keep in mind that if I weren't keeping track of my calories I would only be worse off.

The last time I checked in here in early August, there were several people going through personal difficulties and I was thinking how hard it must be to stay in control of eating when the spirit is low. But then I didn't feel like I had any serious problems of my own and was feeling quite on track. However, today I am very concerned about someone in my life and for the first time since I got started, I feel almost driven to eat. I have a"what's the point?" kind of feeling, like if one thing is going wrong, then what difference does it make about everything else.

Sorry for the gloomy thoughts. Dgramie, your post brings some positive things to mind--fall, candles burning, and fall decorations. Maybe I need to work on refocusing my attention from my problems.
  • I am totally ready for fall, too! I love fall clothes, makeup, shoes..everything! I am also ready for it to be cooler, it has been SO hot here in southern CA....makes working out much harder!
Neverless, I have been working out about 40 minutes a day 4x a week...combination of walking and stationary bike. I'm staying around 1200 calories a day and under 120 carbs and 30 grams of fat. My goal is to lose 10 more lbs. in September! YAY!
Emileigh...stay with it...look at how great you are doing! Your current weight is my GOAL weight! =) It's always worth it...stick with it!
  • Hey Guys! Mind if I join your thread?? I just starting calorie counting awhile back (see signiature) but I havent seen much progress because I have not put much effort into it. Today is the first day of September therefore a great day to start with a fresh mind. My mini-goal for this month is to fit into the jeans I wore when my boyfriend and I met 6 years ago. I can get them on and done up but they are really uncomfortable, so I would like to be able to wear them comfortably. On the 8th I start back to school (3rd year!) which is exciting and I am hoping to be more into a routine. MY RULE WILL BE!! NO snacking or eating when studying or typing on the computer!!!! I will probly update everday...so thanks for listening!
  • I am having a bad day. Of course I am down to 131.4 and yet I am STILL having a bad day. That's how bad it is.
  • Good Morning Ladies

Can't believe how beautiful the weather & temps are this morning. I could have the the 60's & 70's all year round.

I didn't do too good at my first attempt of low carbing yesterday,so I must keep in mind that high carb foods are not the way to go if I want to lose weight. Have to find a low carb cookbook, to make my meals if I want to stay on this plan.

crcossel-I understand your frustration doing everything right and still the scale goes up for no rhyme or reason. I was on a high low counting calories and was doing almost what your posted and I went up +2-lbs so that's the reason I'm switching to low carbing. I take a peek at your menu and see what up.

DGRAMIE-Food is always around and that what makes it so hard for us,if your an alcoholic or a gambler you have many meals of stopping but we all have to eat to survive,so it necessary to find the correct calorie intake to make us lose. I haven't found my limit yet. I'm on a 900-1400 calorie range this month and I lowing carbing also. Your 1500 sounds like reasonable amount.along with your 35 min of exercise should do the trick.

emileigh-I agree with you, some of the old times of missing and must have some kind of personal difficulties, and food is always the answer. I'm going though a difficult time my DH cancer has returned, and we are going to have to go for chemo treatments every week until the cancer is gone. That didn't stop me from trying new methods of counting calories and now this new plan to get the weight off. Your not bring gloomy thoughts to this chat, its a support board no matter what its still life.

STELLARGIRL-I love the fall myself always hated the hot heat of summer. I can't wait to get my fall clothes back upstairs again and put the shorts away. Are you watching your carbs also, wonder if there's a calculator tool on line that tells you how many carb your should use??????

Saffytaffy-Sure you can join us,Welcome to the chat. In the summer months I believe is hard to keep on tract,as there so many comfort foods out there.I thought the winter was bad but the summer is worse for me,how many tossed salads can you eat,to keep you satisfied. Congrats on getting into those tight fitting jeans from 6 years back. That's the day I call my miracle if it ever happens to me.

PRINNY-Sorry you're having a bad day,131 is a great weight wish I was down there I have 40 lbs to to to reach that weight. How your kitty, hope everything is improving with her health.

    Have a great day
  • Thanks, stellargirl, for the encouraging words. I made it through yesterday without turning to food. Beach bum, if you can get through all you are going through without turning to food, then that is an inspiration to me as I am really wanting the comfort of eating.

Tonight I go to group meeting where I weigh in, so I would like to find out that I have lost at least a little. That should help me control myself at least for today.

Saffytaffy, one of the greatest things about my weight loss so far is that some of the pants that used to really be uncomfortable to wear, now go on with ease. So I completely cheer you on with your latest mini-goal!
  • Heyy, mind if I join you.. I am up 1 pound and it must have been the fried foods that I had yesterday.. Today I am going back on track though and hopefully and everything will be good. I am also trying to buy a food scale though because I do believe that will help me a lot, any recommendations?
  • We can't go to the event that I have been working on costumes for to the exclusion of all else for 2+ months because my husband is sick. I am bitter, angry at the person who gave us this cold and staying offline for about a week because if I hear ANYTHING about any fun events this weekend I am going straight for a bucket of coffee hagan das.

Insert long string of foul language [here].
  • beachbum...I am trying to stay under 120 carbs including veggies. My dr. was telling me my carbs should be about 10% of my total calores. This was the hardest part for me so I can totally relate to you feeling frustrated! I am a total carb addict...this last month has felt like rehab! The nice thing is that im not totally NO carb...just watching my carbs and that makes me focus more on lean protien and creative ways to get in filling foods. I'm not finding myself hungry...so that's good. (although last week was TOM and quite frankly I just wanted to make an entire box of pasta and eat it all in one sitting...lol) I'm having pretty good results though...10lbs. in 3 weeks! woo hoo!
  • Oh prinny, that sucks.

Keep that willpower going, girl. You don't need icecream, you need to get out and run that frustration off! Or just get a very small scoop of coffee haagen daaz in a cup - 100cal isn't too bad. And if it makes you feel better...
  • *waves hellos*

Hello Ladies! I hope you don't mind that I'm just jumping in!

r3alsinc31992 - For a food scale I just have a cheaper walmart one, which works perfectly, I find it a lot easier then doing cup measurements! I recommend getting a digital one if its in budget.
  • Hi Ladies!!! I just wanted to join you all. I know so many people are down about summer ending but I absolutely LOVE fall! I started running outdoors again on Monday because the temp has been in the low 70's, humidity has been low, there are no bugs to fly in my mouth or bite me. Ahhhhh it's beautiful! If your schedule allows it, I definitely recommend taking your workout outdoors, there is nothing like the smell of crisp, fresh, cool air when you are running/walking/jogging/cycling/skating etc.!

Right now I run 3 days a week, if I am really motivated I come back and do about 30 minutes of pilates, and then I take Boxing or Kickboxing classes the other three days. The workouts are always varied and I beat the **** out of the heavy bag so it's been great for releasing aggression!

I have been thinking of investing in a digital scale. I have a regular one but I get tired of cleaning the little plasting thing and calibrating for the foil or saran wrap I add to put my food on. Do you all have any specific ones that you recommend?
