I'm learning that it is easier to round off the amount of calories I'm eating. It makes it easier to add up the numbers, so I'm more likely to count every day. When I tried adding up to the "penny" it seems to be a much more tedious process.
I know it isn't as "perfect", but for me it's just more doable.
depends on what I'm eating. If I'm eating a lot of little things then I tend to count each one exactly. If I'm eating a few bigger things then I tend to round. For example if I'm having a burger and its X grams and it says that this is 167 calories worth of meat I'll just say 170 and move on. However with my lunch I had 60g of blueberries at 34, 127 g pear at 73, and 51 grams of turkey at 46. Even if I round up to the next 5 mark that adds up over time.
Yes, I round off. I keep tally by hand and I use 50 calorie increments. It works out fine. If I've eaten a bunch of low cal things I will bundle them together in the estimate.
Unless you are weighing absolutely everything, you can't be 100% accurate anyway.
No, I don't round off. It's kind of like setting the clock ahead, no matter what it says I think , but it is really ten minutes earlier. It just doesn't work. I'd always know I really had a few calories coming.
If you use some of the free software available, it will add your calories for you. That being said, even using the software is an estimate at best. An apple - really, it is an average number of calories in the software. Unless you weigh everything, you won't be accurate. Consistency is the goal.
i round up all the time. and im loosing weight that way, so its working for me as already said, its hard to be accurate without weighing everything anyway.
I do round both up and down when I have an odd calorie item (for example, 270 up to 300, or 220 down to 200). I try to round up and overestimate more than I round down.
I count every calorie for the most part. Luckily, I weigh everything and put it in my Palm (use MyPersonalDiet) which does all the math for me. I do not however count all foods like I should. I do not count lettuce, mustard and my ICBINB spray for instance. It just seems too minute of a calorie count to worry about it.
I do not round only because it seems like I eat alot of little thing with each meal. Like someone said above, if I round up on everything, then I'd be losing essential calories that I may need to reach my daily goal. I found out the hard way, if I am exercising regularly (weighing just above 200), then only 1200 calories a day does NOT work! lol I'm not focusing on 1500/day and I'll let ya know how that works. But I do not plan on rounding...just seems wasteful. )
In the beginning I weighed everything and tracked in FitDay in order to relearn portion size. Now, after 4 months, I can almost eyeball my calorie consumption.
