Default How to count help

Hi,

I'm new to the calorie counting gig & have many questions but have been able to find most answers with the exception of this one.

I love to marinade my chicken and grill it. How do I count the calories for the marinade? I can figure out the calories for the marinade but obviously I'm not drinking that so how do you guys count the marinade that is actually on the chicken? I'm probably thinking about this way to much but I want to be a smarter eater.

Thanks so much for your help!

I count the whole marinade, divided by the amount of servings.

Okay so if i marinate 6 pieces of chicken at a time, I count 1/6th of the calories from the marinade for each piece of chicken. It is a little higher than what you will actually be consuming, however its better to estimate a higher than it is to estimate lower.

You will find this is how most people do sauces and marinades. It makes it a little easier and it gives you a cushion, because you counting calories is not exact. Product labels can be off, your scale can have a margin of error, 1/2 cup to one person can be different to 1/2 cup for the next person, even when measured in the same measuring cup.

Thanks! That was what I was thinking but wasn't sure if there was a magical formula that I should be using.
