Just wondering how everyone determined their goalweight? My weight is from my 4th baby (2 yrs ago) and since I was nursing I was always too hungry to lose, and too tired to be honest! But now I want my slim figure back from before my 3rd... Not wanting to "settle" this time, kwim? So that's how I came up with my magic number! How about you?
Well as I've never been normal sized (In one year in elementary school I went from so skinny the pediatrician kept testing me for cancer to overweight) I use the 'ideal weight' tables ( http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/met.htm ). And as I come from a long line of childbearing german women most of whom wear a size 12 without weight problems and I have humongous wrists and ankles I went for the large frame. So I picked 150 and when I get down to that area I'll see how it looks on me, how I feel in it and adjust up or down as needed.
I picked mine because it's smack in the middle of a normal BMI for my height, and gives me some wiggle room to fluctuate a bit when I get to maintaining.
I still worry about mine but I have settled where I did after going for body fat testing in the Bod Pod and knowing my body fat level and a very healthy body fat level I picked 160. That might not even be within the chart ranges or its the very top end of it but for body fat level its smack dab in the middle of healthy so I will take that over a chart any day.
I know 140 is a healthy weight for someone my height with my frame. When I get closer to that weight, I can decide if it is right for me, or if I need to go lower or even higher. The number is not set in stone. I have never been skinny in my whole life, so I don't have a weight that I used to be to shoot for.
Last time I aimed for 120 (half my start weight) and made it to 136.
This time I'm aiming for 135, so I can say I did one better - but then I'll re-assess. 135 is the top end of normal but people said my face looked scraggy at 136, and I'd rather be a bit rounder and not scraggy.
I picked my goal weight because when I was at what would be considered normal for my hieght by BMI I was extremely skinny looking and unhealthy. So while the weight I picked is technically considered overweight by BMI standards I know that its a weight that suits my frame type.
However, I will lot my body decide its goal weight for itself, there comes a time when listening to your body can be the best choice.
I am 5' 8", and my goal weight is 175-185. I have a large frame, and when I got married that is the range I was in and looked great. I'm in my 50's, in the menopausal stage, and on a variety of medications for fibromyalgia and arthritis. It has been a struggle to lose, but I figure every pound gone is a good thing.
I picked my goal based on how skinny I was when I was anorexic. I'm 5'11 and at 160 pounds I think back and I looked good (b/c i'm so tall). Well, 134 pounds was the smallest I was. Sounds like alot but I was in a size 2. I want to be that skinny again.
I made it up. I don't know my final goal. I've been between 85lbs-160lbs so I did have some idea of what I look like at different weights but without doing any weight training. I don't really know at what point I'll say "okay, I've lost enough" so for now I just have a rough estimate. I think I want to lose about 40 inches total but I'm not sure on that one either.

I picked two short term goals 200 & 170.
I picked a long term goal weight that will put me smack middle of a healthy BMI.
Picking a long term goal weight has been a challenge and kind of a bummer for me because I've lost so much height that I'm going to have to get to a weight that I've never been at in my adult life.

I think I'm supposed to be between 130-150 or something. I set my first goal to 180. I figure if I an get there, then dropping another 40 or 50lbs wont be a big deal!
