thanks guys! I really needed the encouragement! I did not cheat either! I' m still with in range and actually way under I'm only at about 900 cals right now..

I'm going to go eat a banana and some apple slices so that will get me at least up over a thousand .. I NEVER go this low.. but hey we'll see what it does on the scale tomorrow. Maybe I just need to shock my body.. If not I'm going to raise my cals to maybe 1800-2000 and see what happens... then...

and if that doesn't work I'm going to throw my scale out the window.. and the gym's scale... and my doctor's scale..lol ;)

but seriously I'm thinking of only weighing in once a month.. maybe I won;t worry so much about numbers but just eating healthy, being physically active. and making good habits for myself.. in the end that's what it's really all about.. the numbers will have to fall into place eventually..

the odd thing is I don't feel like I've gained any weight.. my clothes still fit the same. and as a matter of fact I could have swore they felt loser! perhaps I'm losing inches? I should stat measuring that!

Also if you are exercising you have to up the water too. You are doing great.. don't give up and give in to the golden arches.. they are evil :)

Are you measuring yourself.. sometimes when you start exercising the scale doesn't move but there is a HUGE difference in your inches.

I agree that it might be a good idea to start tracking your measurements as well, since I know a lot of times even if the scale isn't cooperating people will notice the inches melting away.

I agree with a couple of others that you may not be eating enough, especially with the added exercise. It would make sense that your weight loss could stall on the same calorie level if you bump up the activity and freak your body out into thinking it's not getting enough energy to fuel those activities.

"It's possible no one will agree with me, but based on your stats it looks like you're not eating enough. If you really get stuck try bumping up your calories to 1800-2000." quote...

I think this too. You are most likely slowing your metabolism by not eating enough calories and you are also gaining muscle which weighs more than fat. So you might gain for another week or too. I believe if u boost your calories to at least 1600-1800 and get some from healthy protein & good fats you will start to shed that weight!

I have had some bumps along the way but just started a new exercise program and have decided to go by tape measurements every two weeks to chart my progress. That will give me a more accurate assessment of what's happening to my body than the scale will!

I agree. At your age, size, and activity level, you need more calories. I think you're stalling/gaining water weight because you're going too low.

I agree..someone on this board said that you should multiply your weight by 7...which I think is pretty accurate...that would put your calories at 1,918 per day. Hang in there sweetie!!;)

prinny 05-05-2009 10:25 PM

Uh if I multiply my weight by 7 it has me at 1094. I am given to understand that is too low and one should never go under 1200.

phatcat 05-06-2009 07:40 AM

You're right Prinny...she said never to go below 1200....I forgot to add that part...

I third the measurements recommendations. When I started working out with a traner, I gained and lost the same 5 lbs.... but lost a ton of inches. If I hadn't been taking my measurements I would have given up! I also was eating 1600-1700 cals a day because that is what had worked for me previously. Only when I dropped my cals to 1300-1400 did the weight start coming off.

May I suggest you ditch the special K and eat a cereal that is higher in fiber? More fiber just might get things moving along a bit for you, so to speak...

Hi Maria,

I just put all your food into mynetdiary (it's my iphone food journal) and here's what I got:

1686 Calories
39 grams Fat
522 g Carbs
108 g Protein

Just my 2 cents it that you are eating way to many carbs due to all the fresh fruit (you can even do to much of a good thing). You should eat more protein around 1-2g per kg of body weight. If you aim for 1.5g per kg that would be 186g of protein. I would also suggest you eat more calories.

Get rid of some of those fruits, add more veggies, add a protein shake post workout.

To put it in perspective I weigh 172 and my food averages for the past 30 days look like this:

1697 Calories
152 g Carbs
54 g Fat
136 g Protein

On 4/6 I was 181 lbs and today I'm at 172, 9 lbs gone in 30 days. I workout on avg 5 days a week for 90 min, weight training & cardio (run & bike).

You can lose and eat more. You can do this!!!

Check out this calorie counter to see where I'm getting this.

I agree with you 100%
