Default How many people go to the pool for exercise?

I finally got back to the pool today. We only live 3 blocks from a beautiful indoor junior olmpic size pool. I was exercising 3-4 day a week for one hour each time, last year, and kept it up for 6 months. We went on vacation, got busy when we came home, and never got back into the routine. So, the kids at school are doing swimming for the next month, and I went to help. I am going to commit to 2 days a week, then I won't feel so overwhelmed with thinking I have to go every day. I felt the best when I was going to the pool, and even had comments from people what I was doing to have looked so thin, and I wasn't even watching what I was eating, just going to the pool and doing my own exercises that I have seen off of aerobic tapes. I was just wondering if anyone else goes to the pool also. What exercise do you like best? Mine is with a noodle and you lay on your back and bring your knees to your chest, so you feel it in your abs. I also like doing kick boxing exercises in the pool.

I take a water aerobics class at least once a week if I am sore or I just want to be able to get in some extra "easy" exercise on a day where I ate all my exercise deficit. I say easy because I stay cool in the water and it's low impact.

I know I am getting a good workout in that hour I am in the pool. We do a lot of jogging in place, jumping jacks, suspended jumping jacks, skiing, tin soldiers and all sorts of resistance exercises with the noodle. I definitely feel the bicycle and the ab workout the next day if I give it my all. I also love the stretch at the end!

I was checking TDP and it says swimming burns a lot of calories which would explain why I am so darn hungry after a few hours at the pool. So I say keep it up, if you enjoy it and it's working!

I wish I could but I don't know of a place that has one and even if I did I think my hair extensions probably make my head too big to fit under a cap, I have brightly dyed hair too so unless they want a pink tinted pool I'd have to wear a cap!

I love the pool! It's my number one fav exercise of all time. I generally just swim laps for 2 hours, mostly breaststroke, varying in intensity. I do sets that focus on speed to get my heart rate up and then sets that focus on form and resistance for toning. The last half hour, I do sets of three laps breaststroke and 1 lap freestyle over and over until I'm exhausted. I love it.

Sounds kind of weird that I find it fun, I know, but I used to take swim classes in college and I was also a lifeguard and those were the kind of drills we did and I loved them.

I went today and did a 50 minute swim. It was hard work but by the end of it, it was my legs hurting and not me being out of breath.

I love to go to the pool I spend most of my time swimming laps though. I did take water aerobics years ago but I have forgotten most of them. I think I will try the noodle crunches out they sound good and much less of a pain to my back than the floor kind.
