  • Happy Monday! Like many of you, it's TOM for me-so I refuse to W-I....no sense making me feel worse than I already do!! My oldest DD and I walked 3 miles yesterday-probably the most exercise I've had since starting this process. I felt good about it, and she is very encouraging (she's 12yrs old). We hope to walk together at least 4-5 times a week. A little side note that was really funny-When we got back from our walk, my 6 year old son said, "Mama, you're back already....you don't look any skinnier!?" Oh, out of the mouths of babes! A huge congrats to all of you on each of your losses. I'm still new at this, so reading all of your posts encourage me so much. I've yo-yo dieted for years, so my new motto is: Slow and steady wins the race. Good luck to everyone this week! Let's move it so we CAN lose it!
  • Hi Ladies

Had to go with Leo to get his petscan,in a new place about 1 hr away from our home. When we got there,I was in the waiting room and a five minutes later the tech told me that they had to pick him 8 x's and we had to cancel the appointment, for another day.

My ankle was really bothering me yesterday so I called the doctor & I finally have appointment to have a MRI on my ankle its tomorrow at 7:30 AM. and than a follow up with the orthopedic doctor.

My doctor just called and my cholesterol count is down
    [TOTAL CH 208-TRIGLY 231-HDL 45 & LDL 117]

Thanks for all the congrats wishes I really appreciate them as I was struggling the last couple of months with the stubborn poundage.

RETIRE-Don't look at the scale for success, looking in the mirror and see your clothes fitting and how you feel inside is what counts.

PRIMMY-Having a hungry day pops up in all diets lives. The way I solved that problem is eating more protein or good fat like avocados or peanut butter.Another filler high fiber foods and smoothies. Water doesn't fill me at all.

SATRIA-Sometime when you watch to closely you might be depriving yourself but I agree with Vegas you did greatand you should be able to have a good W-I

VEGAS-That the spirit, and you'll lose those 2 lbs. Thanks for the congrats, its been a while since my numbers on the scale went down. Oh I hope that i don't have a break like your mom had. Don't want to be in a boot or brace for the next 6 week. I hopes it a tendon and if can be corrected my a cortisone shot.

DGRAMIE-Congrats on your 1lb,that's always a celebration in my book as it very hard to loss.,especially wen we're older.

MOM OF FOUR-Congrats on your 3 mile walk, that a wonderful accomplishment. I won't W-I either if I had TOM around my house.

    Have a great afternoon
  • That's about the cholesterol improvement.

And ha, guys, several of us seem to be TOM together. I was frankly astonished that I showed weight loss this weekend and on this morning's W-I, because usually this is the one week a month when I definitely don't. Sure enough, I am already showing back up to 189 this afternoon ... but whatever, it is already written in the notebook and my tracker!

I have been thinking about my trip, too. For xmas trip I just packed dry goods like fruit and luna bars, but I think I'll bring a cooler this time. There are multiple Chili's on our route, which caught my attention because they have meals in my caloric range and we have a gift card for Chili's. But I don't know about trusting those calorie counts?
  • Vegaspunkermom - Subway kind of grosses me out. I think I have had too many bad experiences. Looking into one of those road coolers so I can bring my own sandwich stuff.

Yeah i am going to cut a piece of fruit into 2 pieces and have one half between the first and second parts of my workout and the other half after so I don't wake up feeling physically drained.

beach bum I have an avacado upstairs waiting for me. I might have a tiny bit for a snack later.

TOM looms menacingly, hanging over me like a sword of Damocles. Little tell-tale twinges, ominous portents of doom on the horizon. Oh the misery that is to be woman.

I was up today even though I was good, drank 3618263812 gallons of water, and even rode the bike for 30 on an off day. I blame a combo of PMS bloat and allergy bloat. My fingers felt chubby this morning and that's a sure sign. No amount of water drinking can really combat those two so I am off the scale till TOM is over for sure now.

Oh and I have a HUGE zit on my cheek. Awesome. Just what I wanted this week.

Actually this whole week is off to a really bad start. There was some debris on the highway that got kicked under our car from another car. Shredded one tire and took a chunk out of another. The bill to get the damage fixed was over $700. My car still has to be towed into the shop tomorrow. I dread how much that is going to be to fix. I might be losing weight by way of shrinking grocery budget.
  • prinny- ouch those kind of accidents really hurt.

fences- I LOVE CHILis and try to avoid eating at them for the same reason and last time we ate there everything seemed so salty! I think I am really sensative to salt now.

beach bum- your right it is harder to lose weigh as we get older..Im 45. I think perimenapause is a big part of my problem now. But hey I weigh so much less than this time last year!!I am also getting excited about getting so close to goal..i mean 38lbs isnt much considering how many i have lost already.

mom - my kids are now grown enjoy those little comments. My youngest(19) came in on sunday and said wow mom you look 35..i dont know if she meant it or was just sucking up..but it sure made my day!!!

Scales maybe slow moving but I can really tell I have dropped inches this month. Cant wait till friday to measure.

retire- how are you?? hows that baby?? how are wedding plans??
  • hey guys! i've been mia. LOL. my dd had her surgery yesterday (tonsils, adnoids and tubes in her ears) so i was super busy preparing for that.

i've been working with a trainer and he's been kicking my *** weekly. i'm very happy working with him though and hoping i can continue on. lol

dd is doing fine. it was funny watching her go from sober to drugged. lol. a little sad though since she is only 3. my mom is helping me watch her this week so i don't have to take all week off.

    happy tuesday!
  • Hi Ladies

This morning I had my MRI and did it hurt. The tech put up my foot into a holding sleeve of the MRI and flexed it so that the pain went up to my spine. When I had my first picture done I told her to loosen the foot.Than all went well, the doctor will have the results in 3-4 days.

We are still waiting for the chemo doctor[whose off today] to make up hes mind whether Leo will work with the intervenes team to insert a needle into his arm and than bought out to the petscan clinic. As I wrote previously that they can find a vain that will draw blood. Until than we have to cancel the doctor appointment until than.

WHITE FENCES-My doctor told me the numbers were for an average person.Says I don't have to worry about them anymore.

PRINNY-I ran out of avocado I have buy some more. I love them in a salads or just scooping out the flesh from the shin.

DGRAMIE-The postmenopausal was the worst time for me I when from 129lbs up to 145 in no time. My doctor told me that was the hormonal changes that were causing the weight gains.

NICKIE ROSE-Sorry about your little DD having to go though all of this. The best part I remember was to have lots of ice cream. Glad that you had your mom to help with with your daughter and Happy to hear you like your trainer ,that's 1/2 the battle, don't have a fitness center in our town anymore as curves burned down and never rebuilt.

Have a great afternoon & evening
  • Oops, I missed a word. Meant to write thats great about the cholesterol improvement.

And I LOVE avocados. May is the month for them too. I am always sad when months later, the avocado selections suck and I eventually stop buying them. I have been thinking lately about revolving dinners around them. Years ago the husband and I used to love avocado, tomato, mozzerella and basil sandwiches for dinner and I was thinking of making a lower cal version (1 slice of bread, a little less cheese).
  • Dgramie - Congrats! 1lb. is MUCH better than nothing, or heck, even gaining!

Beach - Please keep us posted on your ankle outcome. Im sorry the MRI hurt and Im hoping its not a break for you! Also, keep that scale dropping!

White - Ive had Chili's while doing my plan. I got the Margarita Chicken plate & the whole thing was under 500 calories and VERY filling! YUM! We also love avacados here in our house. Even my son, who is almost a year, LOVES them!

Momof4 - A 3 mile walk is great! Its also cool you have an older DD who can be your buddy of sorts. You get a workout in AND quality time. Thats a two-fer for sure!

Prinny - Yeah, then Subway is out. Your own stuff is better anyhow, unless you're lazy like me. The fruit will help alot, watch! PMS bloat will for sure put you over, but you might have alot of water still in there. Sorry about your zit. I HATE TOM!

I worked out yesterday and did my pilates video AND a new Biggest Loser Bootcamp video on cable. It was a knockout. I was still at 166 this morning though, so, we'll see what Friday will bring.

Ive also really gotten into Cooking Light magazine. TONS of recipes and they all have the serving sizes and calories listed. I tried these tuna sandwiches on french bread with olive oil & basil, for 243 calories and it was WONDERFUL! Tonight Im doing chicken enchiladas!
  • beach bum Scary health stuff is scary. Hope you guys get past it soon.

WhitePicketFences There was a summer in college I ate cheese, tomato and avocado sandwiches almost everyday. Now I want one. Darnit!

So I know I said no more weigh ins till after TOM but I forgot and weighed this morning. I was down to 156.4. Whoa. That puts me at 20 lost! I am almost halfway to my goal... and I get another penguin in my sig.

I am starting to think my body is just insane and is randomly deciding when to lose weight and such. Then again, I am wondering if I actually need to up my calories a bit because of the muscle I am building/. That last 5 pounds came off really fast and I have been hungry lately. Oh well, whatever.

On the down side I am really noticing my boobs are smaller now. /cry Still too big for a C but the D is too big now. I want my Ds back!

Since you've lost 20.2 pounds, you have 21.4 pounds to go.
If you successfully lose 2.0 pounds/week, you can expect to achieve your target weight by July 14th, 2009.
  • Good Morning Ladies

Nothing new at my neck of the woods, going to stay home and rest. The only think I will have to out to our local bakery and pick up some home made rye bread that they bake with WW brown flour. Don't like the package brands that the supermarket sells.

WHITE FENCES-That's Ok I do the same thing with typing fast. I was never a avocado fan but just recently I heard that avocado supposed be a healthy fat.Don't make guacamole with it,just eat it like it is. I use the Haas Brand.

VEGAS-Thanks,I think that the tech didn't realize how flexed she put my foot into the sleeve and she apologized when I complained. Should know the results by the end of this week or the beginning of next. Oh!! I hope I will keep my weight dropping, want to get out of the 160's so badly I can taste it,but it going to take longer now that I can't exercise. CROSSING my fingers that you have a good Friday W-I. I Look for recipes in my old WW books & magazines also.

PRINNY-Congrats on being 1/2 to your goal and I believe you will do it. It was scary but now that is over I can get back to my every day living.

    Have a nice morning
  • Prinny - Congrats on being halfway! Its great to see another penguin in your siggy too! Try not to dwell on the boob thing. I did for a minute, but then thought, "Ya know, I can always buy boobs, but you cant buy true, healthy, weight loss" Besides, mine have went down (also D's) but I LIKE them more now!

Beach - Im right with you there on wanting to get out of the 160's for good. We both will do it, I just know it. Remember, there will be small hurdles along the way (such as your ankle) but we can overcome them all!

Today is my best friend's birthday. She's pregnant, so we are going to gamble a bit tonight, and Im going to buy her a cupcake and give her her gift & card. Also, I have some errands to run today and the baby has his 1st birthday pictures to take this afternoon!

I made the best chicken enchiladas last night for 343 calories per enchilada. I added a small salad, and wa-la, DINNER! I want to get my entire family eating the way I now do!
  • Good morning!

If I leave anyone out I'm sorry-been running back and forth to my computer (I'm at work-lol) all morning trying to post this!

Prinny-Big congrats on getting to the half-way mark

Vegaspunkermom- Those enchiladas sound great!! Maybe because I'm starving-been too busy to eat this morning

beach bum- I know your foot problem has been a bummer, I hope you get good results and here's to a speedy recovery

dgramie- Any progress is exciting!! inches lost count just as much as pounds! Good luck on measuring Friday.

Well, I still haven't weighed-kind of discouraged. I'm so busy with work, kids, games, practices, homework, etc. etc. that I'm finding it hard to make time for exercise. Any suggestions on workout dvds/programs would be greatly appreciated!

    Take care all!
  • Good Afternoon from sunny Florida. I am sitting out back by the pool taking in the wonderful sounds of the waterfall. I also hear the birds singing and see butterfies flying around. This is a beautiful day. I am so thankful to have another chance to get my health back. Enjoy life everyone.
  • white picket That sounds REALLY good. i've only eaten avocados in guacamole

vegas Wow! Quite a work out day for you. Way to go! That sandwich and the chicken enchiladas sound yummy! I may have to sign up

prinny Good for you on the loss....but I totall hear you on the boob situation. Same EXACT thing here. I was a C through high school and then got to a D. Those are now down to a C and I am SO bummed out!

mom of four Don't get down! Keep your head up! You can do it

scale Wow! You brought a smile to my face. Have a wonderful day!

Not much here. I am down 3 lbs from yesterday! I was so shocked. But gonna see what tomorrow holds. I am dropping inches though. Checked this morning. My dd's surgery has my work out schedule all off. I am meeting with my trainer tomorrow and possibly this weekend but I don't really have time to do anything else. So I'm sticking to my eating schedule and then next week I am back on track!
