Default Need help on counting calories when cooking

I am recently on a meal delivery program and all the food is measured and counted for me. I would like to do this myself. I have questions on how this is done when you are cooking yourself. I usually cook things by recipes. How do I count calories when I cook for myself? Do I count everything I put in, add it up and devided it by how much I split up the serving sizes? Thanks for any advice on this.

I use Mastercook, a recipe software progam that lets me enter my recipes and get the nutrition per serving.

Yep!

We keep a food scale and a notepad on the counter in the kitchen. As we add food to recipes we weigh it and write down the number of grams. Then we both enter the info into Nutridiary and divide by the number of servings. Easy peasy!

Yep, that's what I do: add up everything, then divide by the number of portions. Of course, it's never 100% accurate, unless perhaps you weigh them carefully and perfectly, but it's probably the closest we can do anyway.

Nutritiondata.com is a good site. It is a little hard to find your way around at first though. Sign up and then check out the help for the "pantry". That is where the recipe analyzer is

Yep, that's what I do too. I use the Calorie King book to look up the calories (for ingredients that don't have nutritional information posted on them), write it all down and add up the calories for the entire recipe. When it's finished being cooked, I weigh the whole thing and then use a calculator to figure out how many calories per ounce or gram.
