Lightbulb I bought one of those electronic things

Well, I made a purchase from amazon.com late last night and bought one of those electronic calorie counters. I'm hoping that will make it easier to keep track of my intake as well as keeping a food journal.

Anyone else here have one of those calorie counters? Do you like it?

What brand/model did you buy? I recently bought a Garmin forerunner 305 GPS watch with HRM and calorie counter. From what I've heard and read its pretty cool. I can't wait for it to get here.

I wear a very basic pedometer - my decade-old Pokemon Pikachu 2. It has sentimental value.

I bought a CalorieSmart Handheld Calorie Counter. It comes with a whole slew of stuff that I probably won't be able to figure out (yes, I'm one of those people who are technologically challenged) but maybe if I fiddle with it long enough I'll figure it out.

Here's what it comes with:

Technical Details

* Look up calorie, carb information for 35,000 food items for over 250 restaurants and 500 brands. Add up to 1000 new foods and exercises.
* Track Calories, Carbs, Fat, Fiber, Sodium and Protein. Input time exercised to find out calories burnt.
* Get nutrient information for exact serving size that you eat. Unit can be set to display metric units for UK and Canada based customers.
* Set goals and track progress. Maintain Food and Exercise Diary for 12 months on average. Access todays total food and exercise calories with a single key press.
* Full keyboard for easy searches. Unit comes with USB cable and Windows XP & Vista compatible software.

I can't wait to get it... I think it will make it feel more 'real', if that makes sense?

Well, I got it and it's OK. I'm not very technologically savvy, so I'm kind of stumbling along with it. My husband actually started laughing at me this morning because I was talking to the blasted thing trying to figure out what I was inputting wrong.

I figured I'd use it while I was out and about and then transfer that data to myplate.com once I get home.

TheMrs, I was wondering of you still like using your calorie smart hand held calorie counter?
I have been looking at a few online.

I have an iPhone, which is my electronic calorie counter. I downloaded a MyPlate app (Livestrong) and it's not perfect but so far it works well.
