Well, I am one that needs or at least ENJOYS food that appeals to all the senses. Visually pleasing IS important to me. I have a fairly nice collection of plates, napkins, utensils, baskets, serving dishes and what not to help that all along.
I actually think the food though in and of itself is pretty darn attractive as well. I think roasted veggies are quite appealing in their look. All carmelized and glistening, with different colors. The soups I make are very rich looking. The chicken dishes all look scrumptious to me. My salads look crisp and fresh. Even a simple omlette has eye appeal for me. I can't really think of anything that I make that is not pleasing to my eye.
But... I gotta tell you, what you described to be does NOT sound so attractive or yummy. But that's just ME. I can't stand sour cream, never, ever did. So naturally the whole "look" of it, especially HEATED up and mixed through out WOULD BE something that *I* would not want to sink my teeth into.
