I just switched over to tdp from fitday too, they even have our storebrand cereal in the database :carrot:
ETA: it gives me a really high number of cals I can eat to loose 1.5 lbs a week. 2,356/day I've been aiming for 1500-1800 personally that just sounds super high! |
Can someone tell me the diff in tracking on livestrong vs daily plate? it gives me the option right on TDP

In a rush, I use TDP, but as far as accuracy goes, I still think Fitday gets the Gold Star. I have been using the paid version on my computer for about 5 years. I have to enter in my custom foods, but it isn't that big of a deal, and I know it's correct once I've entered it. |
I've been trying to use TDP since I saw this thread, but it won't let me. :(

Eiluj - never fear! Well, maybe. It's been wonkers all this week. I suspect it has to do with the new year, dieters and resolutions - making for an overloaded server. I'm sad, I'm a Gold Member and really rely on it.
I don't want to do Fitday again to track now that I know about the ease of use on DP. It's good I have it to fall back on though and I do like the weight tracker on Fitday PC. Like Jennifer says - double check the accuracy on TDP. Some of the entries are asinine. |
Is it just me, or has TDP been running sloooow today?
edit* I now see others have had some probs too! :) |

anyways, I love the TDP, yes it has user supplied entries that are way off base, Just don't use those! Know what you ate and what brand and what serving size and how many calories so you know if your Selecting the correct item. I just love it, I tried fitday in the beginning but found it was too annoying, so I saw a thread on here about TDP and I've been hooked eversince. I am a bit annoyed tho that on the Livestrong version they are limiting submissions now to major brand name food products. Like Pizza Hut, I ate a couple slices of a Large Tomato pizza, but they didn't have that option and now you can't even add it. So I just added it as a generic item. Another thing is you have to pay the gold member fee to access and update your Plate on your mobile phone! That's bogus! But I found a way to get around that! Just download the Opera Mini-Web Browser to your phone and then you can log in to TDP just like normal! Yay! |
Yea I have had problems all day! Its been super slow for a couple days now  Hmm :?::?:

I always look at the back of what I'm eating before I eat it anyway so I know for sure. I sometimes write it down as I cook and then I check it with what's on TDP. Other times I run back and forth from the kitchen to my computer so I know I'm getting the right number even if it's not the same brand. I don't just grab something that goes by the same name. If you do that you should be safe.

I think you should double check the calories, no matter what site you use. spark people was way off on a lot of stuff, and fit day seemed too low at times, so when I switched to TDP a year ago I knew that I had to double check entries that seemed suspicious.
That said, the reason I love TDP so much is that with fit day, i could never find brand names (though, admittedly it has been years since I used fitday), and spark people just didn't have that many food entries, and TDP has filled both of those gaps for me. I love it! :carrot: |
Yes it's a very nice site. Many others use sparkpeople.com and fitday.com too as well. Hope it works for you!
