Default Restaurant Calorie Counters

Can anyone recommend a book that consists of popular restaurants and their calorie counts? I've looked around on line but couldn't find what I'm looking for. I would like to be able to preselect and plan calories around having a occasional meal out.

the best online resource for calorie counts for restaurants that i've found is dottie's weight loss zone - http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html. it's amazingly comprehensive! over 570 restaurants. just keep scrolling down until you see the alphabet.

I know you asked for a book, but just putting this out there... On my iPod, there are a few apps that have tons of restaurants calories in it. I often use that and another calorie tracking app to get me through the day. Convenient as ****.

Hey innerchild -

If you know where you are going to eat, a lot of chain restaurants have the nutritional information right on their websites and you can check it out before hand. If you want a recommendation - Try Uno's pizzeria if you have one near you. Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but I saw online that Health magazine had rated it as one of the best places for healthy eating and Uno's web site lists all the nutritional info on everything - including all the sides, dressing, etc. They have lots of healthy food now. Fish and salads and chicken . Hubby and I go to the one by our house every couple of weeks. We figure out what we're having before we go and save calories by leaving off the breadstick, having the dressing on the side or whatever. Grilled skewered barbeque shrimp....mmmmmmmmm!

Thank you so much for all of your suggestions. Since I usually don't know in advance where I might end up for lunch on the weekends since it's usually done on the fly, a calorie counter that I can carry in my purse would be enormously helpful. Even if the choices I make aren't alway the most healthy, at least I will be able to figure the rest of my daily calories around what I have eaten if I have a handy dandy purse size calorie booklet. You see what I mean?

You guys/gals are a plethera of information and I appreciat everyone who has offered these website calorie counters. Great information and I am greatful to all of you for taking the time to pass it on to me.

I always just check online. My husband wanted to go to TGI Friday's last night, so I checked online and decided what i was going to eat before we went. I decided on a petite sirloin, which came with mac & cheese, that I gave to my daughter. I ordered a garden salad, threw the sirloin ontop and had a steak salad. It was super good, really filling and the best part was that I knew exactly what I was eating! There was no guess work. Chain restaraunts are so deceiving, you can really get yourself in trouble if you don't look at the nutrition information before you go. The DailyPlate has a lot of restaraunts and dishes on there. Check it out!
