As someone who just finished her 6th week of a walking to running program, which started out with jogging intervals of 60 seconds (yes, only 1 minute), and today ran 25 minutes straight - I can say that the first couple weeks were the worst. Today was tough. But it is a totally different, not completely unpleasurable tough. The first two weeks were just plain torture. If that is what keeps you from exercise, realize that if you just stick it out for just a couple three weeks, it will totally change on you.
I've made a million excuses in my life why I'm not working out on a regular basis, but I've finally come to the point where I can say
I hate working out! I feel like a mindless drone moving in place on some machine.
Instead of working out (Yes, I finally sold the elliptical that was collecting dust), I'm taking steps to just be a more involved person. I'm walking to class and on errands, going bowling and playing outdoor games as quality time with my boyfriend.
I say, If you can find something you enjoy doing, be it a sport or yoga or running or simply walking, then do it! But if you hate it, forget it! Look for something else. I'm here (and I be you all are too) for the long run life changes, and doing something you hate for a few months or a year is just silly!!
