Default Better Burger

Is Tofu or Boca burgers any good. Are they a good alternative to eat rather then a regular burger. Do they taste good?

I like Boca Burgers pretty well, but my favorite are the MorningStar original patties.

I don't consider them to be anywhere near the same as a "real" burger, but I do think they're really yummy just in an of themselves.

When I'm making a burger at home I usually do 1/2 lean ground turkey and 1/2 lean ground beef and then serve it open-faced on a whole grain bun.

They can be. It depends. I prefer Morningstar Farms brand to Boca, but if you're vegan, I've heard that Morningstar contains non-vegan ingredients like dairy or egg ingredients. You've got to read the labels though, some are as high in fat and calories as a typical meat burgers.

Personally, I think the best ones are the ones that don't try too hard to look and taste like meat. The mushroom flavored ones are my favorites.

I really like the imitation chicken products. The ones that imitate buffalo chicken nuggets are my favorite. They're only slightly less fatty and caloric than "real" chicken nuggets, so they're a splurge item, not sometime I eat regularly.

I really like the Jenny-O lean turkey burgers. They come individually frozen and you can throw them right on the grill (or foreman) without defrosting. One pattie has 160 cals and 19 grams of protein. I don't eat red meat often and when I do I'd much rather eat a steak than waste it on ground meat .

Those sound good. I'll have to give them a whirl.

I rarely eat ground beef, any longer. Like ValRock, if I am going to eat red meat, I'd much rather have a nice hunk of steak.

Another vote for Morningstar Farms here. Boca is good too though, they were the first veggie burger I ever had and bought them for years until I moved on to Morningstar. Also, my favorite way to make a turkey burger is to crumble up a couple crackers and mix salsa into it. It's yummy, flavorful, and you don't even miss the beef.

I like the flame grilled bocas, too. Just go into it with an open mind, don't expect it to taste like a hamburger.

Although boca burgers and morningstar are good calorie bargains compared to hamburger patties, there is a significant range between brands and varieties. The boca burgers I normally eat only have 80 calories each, which is the low end.

I like them all, and will buy the others just for the sake of variety.

I *loved* the Boca burgers but some time back the stup** m*r*ns at Kraft Canada decided that it was not in their best interests to make or sell them in Canada so we do not get Boca burgers here in Canada anymore.

I really like boca burgers and turkey burgers; though one shouldn't expect them to taste just like a beef burger (Fine by me- I'm not too much of a fan of beef) they're very good regardless. I eat mine between two crustless pieces of toasted whole wheat bread, seasoned with Emeril's seasoning, with a laughing cow cheese wedge and a tablespoon of Jack Daniel's barbeque sauce. Yummy.

I LOVE "Lick's Nature Burgers". Lick's is a restaurant here, but they sell their veggie burgers in the grocery store in a pack of 4 for about $7. I don't know if they would have them in the states though, but it's worth a look. They are incredible.... IMO, better then a regular beef patty.
