  • I avoid fruit juices due to the sugar, but if I have a couple hundred extra calories I need to get in at the end of the day I will treat myself with a homemade fruit smoothie:

    frozen fruit of my choice
    milk
    ice
    water
stevia packet or if I have the calories tbsp of honey
  • i tend to be wary of protein drinks, partly because i am a poor student, and partly because i am not sure exactly what is in them. I have my own juicer though, smoothies sound like a good idea
  • Quote: oooh, ditto, ditto! Have you tried throwing it in a blender with ice cubes? Just like a chocolate shake
Ohhh, yummier! I have to go get ice cube trays first (I am not an ice person) but I'm gonna give it a try!
  • I usually juice my own fruit so the sugar (added sugar, anyway) isn't a concern of mine. I know some people have problems with just the natural sugars in fruit juice, but for me it really helps to curb the crazy sweet tooth I have!

Iconised Ghost: I have this awesome whey protein that's only whey, some natural flavoring, salt, and lecithin. I blend it with soy milk/chai tea, and it is nummy-licious.
The only reason I do protein shakes at all it because I don't eat meat or eggs, very little dairy, and I don't like nuts . So, I'm kind of painted into a corner by my own doing on that one. I gotta get my protein somehow.

Smoothies (especially fresh), and Soy/Almond Milk are a great little treat when all you need are extra calories.
  • Wow! You're all so healthy, if I am under-calories after a day of nutritious eating I treat myself to dessert! I just cannot give up my ice cream bars!
  • i wont lie, i have done that on more than one occasion
  • Me too! If I'm really under calories, it's ice cream for me. I have a pretty intense sweet tooth also, which is why I eat so much fruit, have the chocolate soy milk and keep the weight watchers ice cream in my freezer for *cough* emergency *cough* situations.
