Default Diet pop

I am a HUUUUGE diet pepsi drinker, and I tried something different the last 3 days!
Up until 3 days ago I would have 1 or 2 glasses of water and the rest of the day it was diet pepsi, I know its terrible! 3 days ago when I came on here complaining about still being at 199.0 I decided to stop drinking so much diet pepsi. NOW when I wake up its my rule to drink 2 bottles of water before I'm allowed to have a diet pepsi and through out the day, every time I drink a diet pepsi I have to drink 24 oz of water before I can have another diet pepsi.

I weighed in this morning and in just 3 days I went from 199 to 196! Can that be from the soda??? I'm amazed if it is from the soda lol

That's fantastic! There is soooo much sodium in soda... diet or not and it makes us retain so much water. It makes such a difference when we cut back on sodium.

That is super..I love diet pepsi...and I have done the same thing months ago. I force myself to have 40 or more ounces of water before I can have a can or bottle of pop. Then if I want more, then I make myself have another litre of water first, so usually that ends the thirst for the second diet pop...

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the sodium, Dawn. Now you see why the scale sticks.

I didn't think it was the pop since I was still losing in the beginning, I'm happy to say that I still haven't had a pop this morning but I have a MAJOR headache! I still have my water to finish, so then maybe I'll have one with lunch

You sound just like me!!!! Some days it would be nothing to drink 6 or 7 diet sodas. I also work weekend nights, so on weekends I really go over board. As I get closer to my goal weight, my weight loss has really slowed down. Someone else told me just the other day that I could probably loose the last 5 if I cut out the diet sodas. I really didn't believe them, but maybe they knew what they were talking about! Your idea is great. I will also try it. Good luck to you!

I'm going to have to try this. I started out drinking LOTS of water but lately I have really been putting away some Diet Pepsi! I just love having the flavor. I have to have really super cold water... never did like water lol still have to make myself drink it.

Great post! I'm glad I saw it today as my scale has been slooooowing down quite a bit as well.

Dawn, I tend to retain weight when I drink diet pop, and I usually drop a pound or two when I stop drinking it for a few days. Lately I've been trying to drink seltzer instead and wean diet pop out of my life.

Interesting thread. It got me to thinking that maybe I should give up my diet soda habit, too.

Sooo.....I think that maybe once my stores of diet pop are gone, I won't buy any more and see how that works out for me.

I won't lie: I'm going to miss my Diet Mountain Dew Code Red and Diet Brisk Lemon Tea!

This thread is a real eye-opener for me. I didn't realize that diet soda could actually slow your weight loss. I never really gave the sodium in soda that much thought.

Why does soda have so much sodium, anyway?

I don't drink a lot of diet soda. A can a day or every other day. My son usually ends up drinking more of my diet soda than I do. Guess that is a good thing, after all.

My biggie, besides water is Crystal Light Peach Tea. Think I should check the sodium content of that stuff...

Twenty-five mg per eight ounce serving. A 20-ounce bottle has 62.5 mg of sodium. How many mg were you pounding down a day? Add that to the processed foods you eat (I heard you mention pita bread and cheese and spaghetti sauce) and I'm sure you exceed the "safety" zone.

It all adds up faster than you know.
