Default Who can figure out this calorie math problem?

Because I can't. I'm trying to figure out how much of a serving I had in the tbsp of trail mix crunch I put in my yogurt today. Here is the breakdown. I can not make heads or tails of how to figure this out, my brain does not work that way! So there are 180 calories in a 1/2 cup of cereal. There are 16 Tablespoons in a cup. I had 1/16 of a cup of cereal. I want to put it in the daily plate and there the serving is 1/2 cup but you put in how many servings you had. It lists it as 1.00 serving. How do I put this in? What percentage of a serving have I had? Does this make any sense? I am lost too, so don't feel bad!

If it lists the serving as 1/2 cup and there are 8 tbls. in a half cup you had 1/8 of a serving which is .125 as a decimal. Or 22.5 calories.

There are 16 tablesppons in a cup. Therefore, there are 8 tablespoons in a 1/2 cup. Therefore you had 1/8 of a serving. 180 calories divided by 8 = 22.5 calories.

Yes, thank you. And that all makes total sense. I swear, I'm not a complete idiot I just was having a complete blank moment. I got it figured out. Thanks.

Fractions can do that easily. It's funny that I clearly remember thinking in 8th grade "when are we ever gonna use this stuff?"

Of course, the answer is everywhere. Cooking is at least obvious, but I'm trying to learn to convert crochet patterns for normal sized people to my size, and I'm starting to realize that I should have paid a lot more attention in math class (though my math isn't nearly as bad as my fear of math).

I, moments ago, just went through the same stuggle with two tablespoons of pesto!! I'm pretty sure I got to the right answer, but it's nice seeing things spelled out; like 16 table spoons to a cup. That was some serious google research for me!!
