Smile Hi, Please Let Me Join Y'all.

Hello everyone,

I am re-starting my diet and am going to count calories. I have been doing some web research and got the impression that I should be eating around 1800-1900 calories if not more. That sounds like a lot. I am from the old school 1200 calorie diets which I now understand slow down your metabolism.
I lift weights 3x weekly and try to ride my exercise bike for 20 min 3x too. Do you all think that 1800-1900 would be a good starting point? I am interested in calorie cycling too because when I was in WW I noticed a faster loss when I had a higher point day.
Thank you so much for your input!

I think 18-1900 is good to start. It really can't hurt to start with higher calories. If you don't lose, then you can lower them. If you start at 1200, where do you go if you hit a stall?

I would be all over the higher calories if I could eat them and still lose LOL!

Welcome

Yes 1800-1900 calories sounds like a good starting point. 1200 does not necessarily slow down your metabolism it just not enough food to properly fuel your body. It is not sustainable over the long run and will only lead to self sabatoge. Question - how many successful losers do you know that did 1200 calories and managed to maintain the weightloss?

Glad you decided to join us.

IMHO you are on the right track with 1800-1900 cals and exercise.
