Default The 'wrong' calories!

Hi There!

Today I have eaten a ridiculous amount of junk food, I guess it is what you call a 'binge'?

Anyway I totalled up my calories for today and they come to 1500, which is what I aim for everyday, and I have pretty consistantly lost 1lb a week.

However every one of those calories is from chips, chocolate and soda :/

My question is this: aside from the lack of nutrients, will I still lose/maintain this week? Or will the fat/sugar content outweigh the low calorie content?

I hope this makes sense and fyi I do not eat like this everyday - today was a bad day!

That would depend on your body. Everyone is different and some people can eat junk food and still lose as long as they are within their alloted calories. Some cannot.

Personally what did it for me was keeping my daily fiber intake high, but like I said, we are all different.

Since this isn't an everyday occurrence I'm sure you'll be fine. We all have slip ups time to time. Don't let it worry you. I'm amazed that you were able to eat all that stuff and stay in your calorie range. I'd be starving on 1500 cals of junk foods.

In the long term it isn't likely to affect you. In the short term it may cause water retention. I did this with diet soda weeks ago. I hadn't been taking it, and then had a couple of cans for a couple of days. Suddenly I was retaining water like mad. Three or four days after that it was back to normal.

Other people react even more strangely to a day of junk food. They lose weight, and it becomes an issue. I've seen some think that this means they can do it more than once. If your body reacts that way, please don't fall into that trap.

I want to second what Anne said about weight gain through water retention and/or freak weight losses after such a day. The important thing is to put that day behind you, no matter what the results, and get back to your healthy ways.
