I have to have protein in my snack; rice cakes and 100 calorie packs just leave me hungry and are empty calories in my diet.
My most common snacks are: 1/2 cup Fage 0% fat yogurt (60 calories) 1-2 Frigo low fat mozzarella sticks (60 calories each) 1/2 cup Friendship 1% fat cottage cheese (90 calories) Sometimes I have a full cup of yogurt, sometimes I have a Wasa multigrain cracker with my cottage cheese, but loading up on the protein all day keeps me full. I'm at 1600 calories, but I have three meals and three snacks a day. |
I'm on 1200 calories a day too and I have to say that I've found rice cakes and 100-calorie packs to not be good choices for me in terms of snacks. They just don't have much in the way of nutrition, they are mostly empty carbs. On 1200 calories a day, I need everything I eat to be as nutritious as possible. I do much better with snacks that have some protein, good fats, and/or fiber. |
The mini popcorn bags are great too, they're usually 100 cals too.
If you like rice cakes, spread them with some Laughing Cow light cheese, top with some sliced tomato and cucumber, sprinkle spices or fresh herbs on it, it's very good. You can use other veggies too, like peppers, broccoli, onions, etc. Apple with peanut butter is good too, but that would easily be over 100 calories. |
