GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!
I am just so happy that I MAINTAINED what I lost during the week over the weekend. When I was on that strict plan I always gained what I lost over the weekend. This is a good feeling to me. Zenor ~ I think we all are unique in our own ways. I work with Chemist. I don't have a degree but I am strangely geeky like they are. Me about diet and exercise and them about their research but still I am unique and understand them. I think I would fit in better in the Biology department because I am an animal geek. LOL! Although I would probably freak at what they do over there. That is absolutely fantastic that you were able to say, "No it doesn't taste good and I am not going to eat it", inside of course but it worked. I am reading a book about "Mindless Eating" and they talked about how sometimes we eat even if it doesn't taste good for some unknown reason. I just started it last night but it was good, informative but funny to me at the same time. Irish ~ I so wish I could sing and what a motivating goal. WOW! I like American Idol. Keep up the good work. My DD just had a baby boy, January 24. Makes me sound old doesn't it, a Grammy for the second time. Because the baby was born on the 24th means that I had my first 2 grand baby's before I was 40. LOL! My birthday was the 25th. Dream ~ That is good that you maintained for that long because that means you have learned what you need to keep from regaining. As soon as you decide to start losing again you will. Sometimes we just need time to adjust our mind to our new body. You lost a lot of weight. Congrats! Starbucks ~ The only thing good about being short is you get in more steps per mile and when you walk with tall people you actually become more fit than they do because your trying to keep up. LOL! Have to look at the good side of it. I also don't have as far to fall. HAHAHAH! The bonus on cloths is I don't ever have to worry about them being to short. I have a tall student worker and she has a hard time finding pants long enough. It is snowing here today also. All I can say is it is warm enough to snow and I will take it. The bad news is it is suppose to switch to freezing rain. YUCKO! I just have to say I can't describe how happy I am to be back to calorie counting. I mean I was able indulge a little this weekend because it was DH's birthday and I maintained my loss. We went out to a good restaurant and ate things that I haven't been allowed to, I did it in moderation and kicked up my exercise a little to burn some of the extra calories and I managed to maintain. What a good feeling because I was so sick of feeling deprived and torn between what I should eat and what I want to eat. Its not something I will do all the time but on occasion. Actually I figured high on the calories what I ate and I didn't do that bad because I ate in moderation instead of eating it all plus some. Well I better get going for now and see what work needs to be done. Talk to you all later. |
CONGRATS LARA!!!!! great day for a birthday too :P having grandchildren doesn't make you old, it makes you special :P
well I lost another lb over the weekend sooo excited!!! my valentines goal is 185 and I am 6lbs away :) I made a folder on my computer of all the clothes I want to buy at goal :) and I decided next pay (15th) I am treating myself to a new hair do to celebrate the 27lbs I have lost already...hopefully more then that :P If i get the confidence I may post a pic after I get it :) well I am off to do my half an hour trampoline :) |
Irish ~ Good job on the loss and what a nice reward. I did the same thing back before Thanksgiving. Here is what I look like now.
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...36JPGthumb.jpg I love it. I know its a drastic change but it was well worth it. I know not everyone could handle cutting that much hair off but used to always have short hair. I have enough natural curl that all I do is put in some jell in the morning and go. Although this weekend I noticed I now spend extra time doing my makeup. LOL! |
wow!!! you look younger with shorter hair its beautiful :)
|
I love the hair Lara! I've been thinking of chopping my hair too. I go through phases, cut it all off, grow it out, cut it all off, grow it out... etc.
I had a nice long post typed this morning and my internet failed me. Arg! I hate that! Anyway... I'm too tired to rethink what I wrote earlier... Welcome to Dream & Starbuck! |
Good morning ladies, yesterday was a good day! I actually recorded my intake and stayed within my 1200-1600 range.
Lara-I think you look great with short hair! Way to go on the weightloss! Keep up the good work. Starbucks-WELCOME! Zenor-Great job on avoiding the tavern food! I wish I could have controlled myself on Sunday, then I wouldn't be dealing with the extra water weight this week. Irish-Great job on the weightloss! Good luck with the Canadian Idol. I think its awesome you are following your dreams! Have a great day! |
Dreams ~ Great job on staying in the calorie range. I know its not always easy. I always sit down to the computer first thing in the morning and log my weight and enter what I am going to eat for the day. I am thinking about logging my exercise also.
Zenor ~ That is always such a pain to lose a post. I don't blame you for not retyping it but I wish I could have read it. My hair grows really fast when its short but when I let it get longer it seems to slow down. Could be my imagination because the longer it gets the more curl so its not noticeable. So I debated for about 6 months what to do and I decided its gone. I was tired of the frizz, snarls and it being in my face. Thank you all for the compliments, makes me feel good. I love the look of long hair but for my facial features short hair is the way to go. Since having it cute, I have been told I shaved 10 years off and since I just turned 40 that makes me feel good. I am actually healthier now I believe than when I turned 30. Amazing how diet and exercise can change your physical and mental condition more than age. I decided I was not going to let age decide how old I was. Calories yesterday were right around 1700 and I walked 4 miles (11,845 steps) through the day. I have one of those little pedometers and I am always shocked at how much walking I do. I wear my pedometer faithfully, well, when I haven't lost it. It sometimes falls off and I have to go find it. Its usually in the horse pasture because I have to bend over a lot when taking care of the horses. Its been stepped on once by the horses and left out in a snow storm a couple times. Still, it keeps on going. My weight was up a tad today but its from all the cardio yesterday. I always have my weight go up a little bit when I do a lot of walking or exercise the day before. I actually have to remind myself to not over do it. I have an addictive personality and exercise is not an exception. Its nice to be in great cardio shape and have nice muscles but to much of anything isn't healthy. Well I better get going for now. I need to get some things done here at work. |
well yesterday was my nieces first birthday we went to a restaurant :O I had a caesar chicken salad and had no idea the calories but it had a healthy sign next to it on the menu and I had 1000 cals left. Cake came and it was a HUGE triple chocolate cake with cherries, she also had a small vanilla cake....I had.....NOTHING I picked up a butterscotch candy they give you with your bill and that was my dessert treat!!!! I am SOOOOO proud of myself even though everyone kept telling me to have a small piece. I stepped on the scale this morning and it paid off....I lose another lb!!! really a lb.7 because I was 191.7 and now I am 190!!!!!!! I am soooo happy almost out of the 90's.
Me and my hubby are going to the movies tonight our first time out alone since the baby was born I am super excited. I am not having any snacks at the movies! Thanks for everyones support on my idol adventure. I will let you know as much as I am allowed..you are sworn to secrecy until the show airs so it will be quite a wait!!! |
Finally got my scale- at first I weighed 170.5, but that was after eating an enormous amount, and in the past two days since then it's dropped to 164.5, so I think I've definitely lost weight. Right now I'm trying for some consistency in my diet- I've been going back and forth between overeating and undereating too much, and it really makes it impossible to estimate my calorie needs.

:congrat: Irish for resisting the birthday cake. Good choice on the candy. I sometimes have a piece of hard candy when I am craving something sweet.
:goodluck: at the moving and avoiding all the ick. I now sneak in my own stuff because it is hard for me to just sit and smell everything. I hate having to do it but they don't have anything healthy. No matter what it is going to be a special treat for you and your DH. Impala ~ When do you normal do your weigh in? Sounds like a really exciting loss. Me, I would be changing my weight right away out of excitement. Well I have been off reading articles on weight loss and how its better to make gradual changes and lose at a slower weight than actually go on a "diet". I found some really interesting stuff. I also read some about how the scale should not determine how well we are doing. DH noticed this weekend that my tummy is really starting to go down and then when I put my pants on today I noticed it really is. I have started doing short little tummy exercises each day and I think its working. I better get going for now and I will talk to you all later. |
Irish~ Sworn to secrecy until it airs??? That's no fun! Especially since most of us wouldn't be able to watch it anyway (being in the US.) Oh well, tell us all the news when you can! Let us know when auditions are so we can all send "happy thoughts" your way. :D
Grammy~ Yay! I loved it when my clothes got looser, even if I couldn't see it on the scale. Any victory is a victory! Dream~ Great job staying on target! :carrot: Normally I figure out my food through till 5pm the night before and then think about dinner during the day. So, I did this, but I'm having a total mental block. I can not figure out what I should make for dinner! Lol. I even went shopping yesterday, so it's not like I'm low on food. I'm a little low on vit K and phosphorus, so I need some spinach and something with phosphorus in it. Hmmm... What on earth contains phosphorus??? I'm going to have to look that up. On a happy note, we have hot water! I don't think I mentioned this because of the lost post, but we haven't had hot water since Sunday afternoon. The plumber came today and the water heater was fine, so we had to have an electrician come out. It was a blown fuse. What kills me is I checked the fuse box and they all looked fine. Silly old house has some wierd electrical issues I think. Good thing we are renting and don't have to pay for repairs. Yay! Hot water! I feel so grubby. Maybe I can think of what to make for dinner while in the shower... Lol. Oh boy can I ramble on or what? |
Impala- grats on the loss
Lara- isn't it great to start to see a difference zenor- man I would HATE not having hot water!!!!! glad its back well I had an awesome day!!! I was getting ready for the movies and I went into a box of old clothes a found some that fit!!!! I am waering a size L (stretchy) shirt and a size 15 pants....the size 14's I have FIT but they make me have a little roll so I am gonna wait a bit to wear them!!!! (these are also a bit stretchy jeans) then we had a great time at the movies and I got a wendys salad on the way home (340 cals) man I feel good!!!!!....oh and I saw cloverfield awesome movie but made me a bit sea sick :P |
Irish ~ LOL! Maybe it was a good thing you didn't eat anything. GOOD JOB! What a wonderful clothing adventure. I am still wearing size 15's because of the way I carry my weight. I could probably go smaller but I really like my cloths to be comfy. VICTORY for you.
Zenor ~ You never realize how much you use hot water until its gone. For that matter I never realize how much I use electricity until its gone. Glad they got that up and running for you. I do all my food planning in the morning except for dinner. Dinner I have never planned because I just go by what sounds good at the time. I don't plan on changing that part of me. I always see what I have left for calories and decide what sounds good. I works for me and so I am not going to try and fix it. I have to go grocery shopping tonight after work and I am dreading it because the weather is bad and its not going to get better. I almost went in the ditch this morning and was totally embarrassed. I tried to get off a main road because it was slick and onto a side road where snow was still on it and would allow for better traction. I couldn't get stopped even though I was going slow and had it in neutral. I was a little disappointed in my blazer because I didn't lock it into 4 wheel drive , I was letting the computer decide when it should be on and it never turned on. GRRRRR! I locked it in and never had another problem but I didn't get to get on my road, slid right through so I had to stay on the slick main roads. Was a little more excitement than I wanted for the day. Thank goodness no cars were coming. Well I better get going and I will talk to you all later. |
Oh, I forgot to mention I measured my waist and hips and they have gone down a half inch each. The scale also moved down a tad this morning. All my efforts are paying off and I don't feel deprived in anyway. It is SOOO wonderful.
|
GrammyL~ Woohoo! Congrats on the inches lost! Dh and I have a Subaru so the all wheel drive is always on. I don't think we could have survived all this snow and ice in our little Saturn that we used to have.
I have today off from work, so it's bread making day. I'm making the usual supply of sandwich bread, plus I'm trying bagels. We had this great bakery in town that made organic bagels, but she closed her doors. :( Since she closed after the new year I've been trying to recreate my favorite things. I really hope the bagels turn out. I don't like the grocery store kind. Dh and I went out for dinner last night. I was just having too much of a mental block. Not to mention, not having hot water means the dishes didn't get done for two days. So the kitchen looked like it threw up on itself. Lol. Thank goodness it's clean now! I went over my cals a bit yesterday, but I figure I'll just go low today. |
