Question Just Wondering About

I am still trying to figure out exactly what I should be doing so I was just wondering what everyone else is doing as far as...

How many calories do you eat per day?

How much (on average) do you lose per week?

Do you know how many calories you were eating to maintain your previous weight before you started to lose?

Well, I am on the WW points system, but I do know that .5 to 2 lbs per week is a healthy weight loss. And you should never go below 1200 calories a day unless you are under a doctor's care. Hope that helps!

I think how many calories you need to eat daily to lose weight depends on a lot of different things and is different for everyone. But, I have been taking in about 1200-1300 cals a day on average. I have lost about 2 pounds a week I guess so far. I exercise daily. And I add extra workouts on the weekend because I have time.

I have no idea how many calories I was eating in a day before I started paying attention. But I do know that I never thought twice about what I stuck in my mouth. A big mac, large fry and a large dr. Pepper was nothing for me to wolf down. KFC was a favorite also. I also was cooking big heavy meals. No more. I have finally reached a point where none of that even sounds good anymore, in fact the thought of it makes me somewhat nauseous.

I have been using the daily plate to help with keeping track of my calories and I love that site. It has helped me out a lot!

I hear ya michelle I wonder before I started counting, how many was I really consuming? I'm thinking 2000 would be my low end. I am so stunned how many calories are in some foods. Daily plate has changed my life. I'm around 1450 calories per day. That's what DP set up for me to lose 2.5lbs a week.

This info is in the sticky :

Here is a good starting guide for you to begin self testing your personal calorie needs:

Over 300 pounds: Start at around 2000 calories a day.

Over 200 pounds: Start at around 1800 calories a day.

151-199 pounds: Start at around 1600 per day.

150 pounds or less: Start at around 1500 a day.

I also just recently heard (true???) that you sould only lose 1% of your weight per week. 200 = 2lb 195= 1.9 lbs per week, 180= 1.8lbs per week.
Sounds reasonable.

To maintain at 115-120 lbs, I usually aim for between 1200-1500 calories a day.

I haven't been very succesful in terms of structured, scheduled exercise, but I take a lot of short walks, and I do attempt to be active(ish). Winter has made me more of a hermit then I like to admit...can you tell?

I have no idea how many calories I was eating before...way too many! Lots of unhealthy foods and unhealthy habits. I didn't know that I should care...and I didn't want to care, anyway.

How many calories do you eat per day? ~~~ I shoot for about 1400-1500. If I go lower than that I gain. And obviously higher than that usually ends up with a gain too.

How much (on average) do you lose per week? ~~~ I lose weight very slowly.. only about a pound per month.

Do you know how many calories you were eating to maintain your previous weight before you started to lose? ~~~ I think it was around 2000-2500 depending on the day.

While I was losing I averaged around 1500 calories per day. Most weeks I lost 2 lbs although some weeks less and other weeks I lost nothing. 2lbs a week was the norm though.

As far as exercise I walk. I used to have a more structured schedule, but we've moved to a smaller town and we walk most everywhere so I walk, but not on a schedule per se.

I maintain my current weight at approx 2000 calories. I'm not sure how many calories I was eating before, but I'm sure I had some way over 3000 calorie days in there.

Well, first, before I reply to this post I'm going to point out that my S/C/G thing is a little off..(because it's relevant to my answers.) Over the holidays I gained about ten pounds, and I started with my plan on January 3, at 210 lbs. I'm at 202 lbs now.

I am eating an average of 1,300 calories a day. I want to be at 1,500 but I seem to fill up before that... Anyway, aside from the initial drop of quite a few, I seem to be losing about 1-2 lbs a week. I really have no idea how many calories I was taking in before, but with all of the snacks, tons of butter I added to everything, chinese food, etc. I was eating I'm assuming it was definitely a few hundred calories over 2,000.

I agree, I like to see what is working for other people so I have some ideas for myself, if what I do doesn't work. Everyone's body is so different, its amazing that so many different things can all work!

I eat around 1800 - 2200 calories per day, I drop between 1-3 pounds per week. I had to be averaging at least 3400 calories to stay as big as I was before.
