We went to Winchester VA today which is a LONG drive from our house. Anyways we stopped at the terrible McDonalds because the kids wanted ice cream and I got a McFulurry I came home and looked up the calories and I'm so upset, I knew it would be a lot why in the heck did I eat it?(
Don't stress!!! It was just one McFlurry! Get right back on plan. An occassional oopsie is not going to have a major impact on your weight loss. It's only when you let those occassional oopsies turn into a whole weekend of bad choices that you have a problem. Don't let it derail you! You can't change the fact that you ate it...but you can stop feeling guilty and decide to feel happy and in control that your next meal/snack will be a healthy one!
OK, lesson learned! Now you know! Look up the calories BEFORE you decide to eat that goody. I know you were out of town and couldn't, but think of the future. I've done similar things--and discovered later that I just topped out my calories for the day during lunch!
Get back on your plan--your weight loss may stall for a couple days, but you'll be OK as long as you don't give up!
I feel your pain - I once got nailed by a Jack in the Box shake...looked it up when I got home. I won't ever do that again. Just SO NOT WORTH IT. It wasn't even that good!
I think we've all had things like that happen before. I've learned to bring on-plan snacks I really like, so that I'm less tempted by the high calorie snack on the road!
What I do when I visit a McDonalds is I have the salads, and if I'm ever craving a treat...I'll get a kiddie cone. I have been exactly where you were. I found myself munching away on an oreo mcflurry and wahey, when I got home...560 calories, for the small.
The kiddie cone is excellent though. It only has 45 calories, 10 from fat, 1g of fat total. I usually go without the cone and get it in a dish, save on a few cals if you want to.
Even their adult sized reduced fat cones only have 150 calories.
Its a lesson well learned, but at least now if you ever find yourself in the same scenario at mcdonalds, you can make a more positive choice!
DM, sometimes I will go to McDonalds and get a McFlurry, but I have it planned. If my calories are up one day, the next day I'll eat healthy, but go for lower calories that day. It all works out in the end if you don't do all high calories every day!!! lol
