Am I the only one that finds this site annoying. It doesn't have hardly any of the foods I eat. Yes I should eat a little better but I'm talking Lean Cuisines and stuff like that. I was going to try it again. I tried it last year and now I remember why I quit. How does everyone else use it. Do you just enter calories for a serving or all the information each time. I'd only use it so you all to give me pointers but it seems way to much work. I'd rather write it down somewhere than use that site.
I know that FitDay doesn't have a lot of pre-packaged meal options. However they do have an option to enter a custom food. You basically just use the nutrition information from the box or whatever and name it and it is always there for use, again and again.
If you need help doing this, you can PM me if you'd like, I would be more and happy to give you more detailed instructions.

It is annoying to start - but for me, I eat a lot of the same stuff all the time. So, I enter a lot of custom foods. Easy peasy to find them once they are saved.
I agree with Chick in the Hat. I like entering custom foods. That way I am certain that the info is correct. I have found too many items on other databases that had inaccurate calorie counts or nutritional information.
Once you get your favorites in, it is just a matter of adding the new stuff. It isn't that time consuming. Speaking of which, I need to enter that new bread recipe I tried today
I use it like clockwork and yeah, in the beginning it takes a bit more time but use that custom food function - it really will save time in the long run.
It does probably work best for those of us that eat the same foods most days - but it is a great tool overall.
I wish they would update their database though to include foods that are popular now & change the nutrition label to match the one that is on foods now. I use the PC download version. I wish there was someway to upload my private foods to my online account so I could use it when I'm on the road.
Other than that, I really love FitDay. If you enter your private foods as you use them it is not too bad & another thing I REALLY love is that you can track all your nutrients to make sure you're not lacking in something important (or getting too much).
karen - i've tried the daily plate..what am i doing wrong. When i enter one food and then click on when i eat it etc..i can't enter any more food. What am i doing wrong. I was giving TDP a try after getting annoyed with fitday...but so far can't figure the darn thing out LOL
I made it through 2 days on that sight. Now that I am getting serious (again) about loosing, I think tracking would be a great idea. That said, the time I can spend on that sight (fitday) to punch everything in, I could have added an hour to my workout. I will be searching for a better sight, or has any paid for a program? I would rather get it for free, but would be willing to pay for something really awesome.
I also use Daily Plate. Gator, when you want to add another food, go up to the very top of the page and type it in the search field. I like that they have a much more expansive database, but you also have to be careful because a lot of the foods have the calories listed, but 0 for everything else (carbs, fat grams, etc.), so you have to compare the different entries for similar foods to really find the one you want. The one thing I don't like about the Daily Plate's tracking is that they don't track the types of fat you eat, just total fat. I'd like to be able to see the amounts of saturated vs. unsaturated fats I'm eating.
I don't log my food at either place any more... too much of a PITA. I just keep track of total calories in a notebook and if I eat something that doesnt have a nutrition label on it, I look it up at nutridiary (also free and can add custom foods and make "meals" out of foods)
I use DietPower which is a paid program installed local on the PC. I love it but it does not have all the national brands and restaurant chains. I enter most of this from labels and look-up at CalorieKing and Calorie-Count. But after a while you have most things entered. You woud be surprised how often you eat the same things.
Entering foods and recipes takes no time and logging your meals is extremely quick.
I am also a member of CalorieKing which is paid but I hear members with much of the same complaints that you already have.
