Calorie Counters Chat for September
Happy September 1st! I hope you guys don't mind me starting the new thread!!
I can't believe that this year is almost over. I hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend. The last one before our summer ends! DF and I are just going to relax at home, and I'm going to clean the house a bit, and probably take our Puggy to the dog park to do a little swimming and playing. My calories have been pretty good. I did have one high day. TOM Is gone...and I'm ever so glad! It really was hard to keep up, and not resist temptation too much, I did have some "bad" foods, but not enough to make a dent in my calories! LOL! Well take care everyone!!!! |
I, too can't believe summer is pretty much over already! The kids start back at school in a few days...it feels like they just finished!
I've been doing really well with my calorie counting, I've only had one day where I was over and that was only by 18 calories! I'm pretty proud of myself. This is the longest I have ever stuck to any weight loss plan (which is fairly pathetic since I've only being doing this for a week! ) I don't know how much I have lost (if any) because I won't weigh myself until tomorrow morning but I'm hoping I have lost a couple of pounds at least. I hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow! |
Summer passing for me is kinda cool because it means I've been at this an entire season! Plus, I like the fall.
-muse (1400-1700 most days with exercise) |
I can't give totals this week. I wasnt able to get on the computer til today, so I don't remember what I ate for thursday. I haven't ate the healthiest items the last few days either. We decided Thursday morning to have a garage sale with a couple of our friends which meant digging stuff out and pricing Thursday night. I had to cover another ladies shift at work on Friday so had to go in early. Had the sale friday 3-8, went home found more junk, and had the sale from 8-2 on Sat. I tried to stay awake for the Huskers home opener, but slept through the first half, even with the whooping and hollering. :celebrate:
I'm back on track today, gonna make heathlier choices this week for sure. It's gonna be difficult but I'm gonna do this for me. This week all my daughters extra activities start, we've got dance, bowling and Sunday School starting, along with preschool and gymnastics. Tuesday I get my me time. It's my night off from bowling but I have an upper case living party to go to, so that leaves I think Wednesday night as my one night where I can go home and put my house back in order. :dizzy: I better get busy on the laundry and dishes it sounds like the hubby is bringing company over after his golf outing. Have a great day. Bridgette. |
I really need to get back into calorie counting, been slacking off the last 2 weeks.
I'm aiming for 1300-1500 a day plus exercise |
So my DH has decided to start dieting today. Anyone know how many calories men need daily? As this is his first ever diet, i want to go healthy and flavorful for him, so he doesn't feel deprived and give up.
|
How much does he weigh now? How tall is he and how much does he want to lose? The maddening part about men's dieting is that they lose faster than women. Good luck to you both.
|
Here it is! Sorry I started another chat thread LOL. I missed this one and thought it was strange it hadn't been started already.
anyway, my goals are to keep cals under 1700 and try and exercise 30 minutes a day. Last month was a total wash. |
I had a really good week last week! I lost 7 lbs! I was so excited when I saw the number on the scale. I know it's most likely water loss and it won't be that much that I lose every week but it was a good start. What I love about calorie counting is that I don't feel like I am on a diet at all. I'm not being told that I can't have something...I'm making the CHOICE about whether or not to have something and for me that makes all the difference!
|
Well today was a good day, I exercised for 1 hour and ate about 1350 calories of mainly healthy foods. Right now it's almost time for bed and I don't even feel hungry.
|
Good Morning Everyone!! I'm glad for short weeks, this one is already almost over! Yay! Well I haven't been doing too bad on my calories, though on Monday I went overboard on sodium (again!) LOL! So I'm working on getting the bloat off. I got a pretty eventful week coming up, DF and I have our dating anniversary coming up, and next Wednesday I'll be on vacation for 10 days! Woohooo!
Soontobe- Great job at the 7 lbs, yeah it maybe water weight, but still, its still good! ;) IdealMuse- I know what you mean, I've been doing this since May! I wish I would of started this earlier! :p Bridgette- That is one thing I have found challenging thus far, is if I don't make time to eat healthy I will pick up something bad, when I could easily made a healthy meal! Though I can't complain much, its my fault, but I have kept those meals within calorie range! LOL! CoolMom- You are forgiven! ;) LOL I went and finally got myself some new bras, boy things do look different with new holders! Oh and I went to Old Navy to pick up these cargo pants, I bought it in large and went home and the slid right off. They are really making the large size larger. :dizzy: |
GOOOOOD MORNING ALL!
Sorry I have been MIA. We didn't do much for the weekend but we did go to the Zoo. DGS had a great time but was scared by a mean monkey to stared him down and didn't like touching the sting rays but over all a great time. His favorite things were the petting zoo, baby goat petting zoo and ridding the camel that he keep calling a horsey. Let me tell you, they are a rough ride and not very comfortable. I had to ride with him which it was the first time I had ever ridden one. Other than that adventure we didn't do much. I took 6 roosters over to the Amish because 8 is just to many. Went and picked some things up at the store and that was about it on Saturday. DH had to work most of the day so did all the errands. Tinky ~ It sure does make a difference having new holders. I bought some a few weeks ago and wow it makes a difference. No, you are just shrinking. It feels good doesn't it! I shocked DH this weekend. He has a few pairs of pants he likes me to wear and those are getting to big on me. So he told me which pair he would like me to wear and I got them out and didn't even unsnap them just slid them on . I saw look in disbelief out of the corner of my eye. I was snickering inside. If I lose 5 more pounds I will need belts to keep them one. I also noticed that my shirts are starting to look really bad because they are getting so large. I have a T-shirt collection and I hate to give them up but they are looking bad on me. What a good feeling! Soontobe ~ 7 lbs, that is fantastic. Keep up the good work! Bridgette ~ Just brush yourself off and keep on going! That is the spirit. |
Zoe ~ Just pick yourself up and put last month behind you so you can move forward.
Well I am stuck because of TOM but I am just continuing on with what I have been doing because I know that is all it is. Has been a mean nasty one this month and put me right down in bed one morning and Midol wouldn't touch it. Of course, it hit this past weekend. We went to the Zoo and had a great time. DGS and I rode the camel, not a real comfortable ride, I will stick with my horses. His favorite things were the baby goat petting zoo, the camel ride (keeping calling it a horsey, it was cute) and the big animal petting zoo. It is just so much fun seeing their faces when they see a new animal. He also got to feed a bird that he tried to grab onto and squeeze but the bird bit him but then he proceeded to pock at it and is quick enough the bird couldn't get him. He got to pet a sting ray which he didn't like the feel of it and he had a monkey stare him down so he started crying and didn't like that particular exhibit anymore. I am still doing my morning jogs but now I look like geek. I have a flashlight that is designed to go on your head. Its all for safety but it looks really strange. Plus we live in the country and you can't see real well in the morning. DD got a good laugh and my dog took a second look at me. HAHAHA! Well I better head out and talk at you all later. |
:write:Hi all,
I haven't been to 3FC for months and I'm looking for an active board. You look like a positive group in action and I'll check back - let's see if I remember how to subscribe. I'm compulsive and I like peoples to share with. Me: married, no kids, not working much except for Mary Kay (DH is a good provider), 59, have a 2 1/2 yo DSG, a Georgia Peach. I'm in Wichita, if my bio isn't updated.:hyper: |
Hey Ladies. I am on W1D5 of the C25K, I am very excited about lssing weight!! Thought that would be a good exercise plan for me. So I also thought I'd start the calorie counters diet. That way I can lose weight even quicker. I am very bad at boredem eating. Anyone know anything I can do to overcome this? Thanks All.
|
Good morning everyone! I've been doing pretty good so far this week. I had my cheat day on Sunday. I still counted all calories but I didn't really care if I went over. We'll see if I have lost any weight when I do my weigh in Sunday morning to see whether or not I continue to have cheat days! :D
Tinky ~ I really have to keep an eye on sodium as well. Also I'm really trying hard to make sure I get the proper amounts of protein as well...definitely have to improve that. TOM will be coming up next week for me so I really want to make some progress before then so I don't get too discouraged when things kind of stall for a week or so. I think I'll be ok keeping with the plan though because I haven't had very much trouble keeping within my calorie limits. Hope everyone has a wonderful day! :) |
Yall I'm So Stressed Out. I Cant Stop Eating Lol. There Is Something Wrong With Me I Think Lmao. I Am So Bored. That I Just Eat And Eat And Eat. "that Time Of The Month" Is Coming So Thats Another Reason Why I'm Eating So Much. What Can I Do To Help Me Not Eat As Much When I Get Bored?
|
I've been MIA for a week or two. Between the business and starting up homeschooling again for the year, I've been up to my ears being busy so not much time to post or even lurk. I keep saying that it'll start calming down again, everyone will get into their routines but the chaos just continues. :dizzy:
My weight is still in a holding pattern due to, I'm sure, not eating nearly as clean as I should/could like I was and not getting regular exercise the past two weeks. Now I need to get my nose back to the grindstone and quit with the excuses so I can break 200 this month! Friday's stats: Total: 1341 Fat: 79g, 56% Carbs: 115g, 26% Protein: 59g, 19% Fiber: 34g Wowzers on the fat today, huh? Sheesh. I didn't even realize until I copied it here. Dang, those 3 tablespoons of oils in my stir fry tonight did me in. |
Echo, echo, echo...
Had stir fry again tonight but cut my oils down so it looks better. Saturday's stats: Total: 1493 Fat: 43g, 27% Carbs: 235g, 51% Protein: 76g, 22% Fiber: 53g |
I have not checked in for a LONG time!!
Eating wise everything is great and I am at my lowest weight since almost two years ago. It feels really good and everything seems to be going great :) I wish I had more to say but theres nothing really! I do need to start posting here again though! |
The end of July / entire month of August / beginning of September have been pretty much devoted to sabotaging my diet. I never thought I'd make it through getting a new job, and my daughter starting kindergarten - so I ate a lot to try and keep away the stress.
Now, everything has settled in fine except for my weight and all the wonderful eating changes I had made. Back on low cals and posting here regularly for motivation and ideas. I hope everyone manages to keep up the good work and reach their goals. :) |
week totals:
calories 1377 fat 48g 33% carbs: 158g 42% protein 74g 22% fiber 19g Well I survived the busy week. This week doesn't look much better, but I guess if I'm busy than I'm not snacking endlessly. I was brave tonight and attempted to make lentils...well, they were alright, my DD made the funniest face followed by I don't like it. I would like to try them again, does anyone have a good recipe that they would recommend. My DH is a veggie hater so it tends to be diffucult to make something that the whole family enjoys. Have a great week:carrot: Bridgette. :flow1::flow1::flow1: |
Bridgette, I LOVE my lentil roast. It is so nummy, I could over-indulge but its healthy with a bunch of Superfoods packed in.
my kids won't eat it though, but they are still in the major picky stage and I'm working through it still. LOL Lentil roast 2 cups cooked lentils (simmer 1 cup raw lentls in 3-4 cups water or 30-40 minutes.) 1 can canned evaporated milk (i use the non-fat) 1/4 cup cooking oil 1.5 cup corn flake crumbs 1 egg 1 cup chopped walnuts 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp sage 1 onion chopped Mix ingredients together and bake in a greased casserole dish at 350 degrees for 45 min to 1 hour. |
Hi everyone!
I'm up a few pounds from my last weigh-in but still below my starting point. It's that time of the month for me so I think that is the reason because I have been really good about sticking to my calorie counting. I haven't been drinking NEARLY enough water so that probably doesn't help either...definitely need to work on that. Today was my cheat day again. I still counted though...I went around 300 cals over which wasn't too bad I thought. But almost looking forward to starting again fresh tomorrow. The burger and fries I had for dinner just stuffed me...I've gotten used to eating smaller portions more often a day and my body feels better when I do that so I did suffer a bit for my cheat day! :D Hope everyone has a wonderful week! Take care! |
Hey there just wanted to say hi to everyone, got back from vacation at disneyland and now the busyiness starts. Need to get everything organized and finalized for homeschooling so we can really get in gear and on schedule. I have my new job at s-bucks nights and weekends and then the kids are both in soccer! Yikes things get so busy so I just set some easy goals and I can get to my goal weight by August 24th, and since none of the goals are too strict I think its doable!!
Hope all are good and will try to keep up on this as much as possible, probably more so once we get into a groove with homeschooling. Echo |
Hello everyone! It's been a little while since I've been on. LOL!
Well I'm gearing up for my vacation. I leave for San Diego on Wednesday, I will be gone for 10 days, and I won't have any computer access. Well I might but I doubt it. I'm trying to have a technology free time! LOL! My weight has been steady, but I need to really lay off the sodium it doesn't help! I hope not to gain anything on my vacation, I would be happy with maintaining. Well I need to get back to cleaning but thought I stop by and say HELLO! I'll pop on to do the personals tonight! Bye! |
I'm a bit of a noob to these forums, so this is my first time posting in one of these threads. Not sure why, but I'm nervous lol.
I've been doing surprisingly well this week and last week -- I think I'm finally getting used to restricting calories. The only day I went over my calorie limit was on Saturday, and that was a planned "binge", as my family was going out to dinner. My only complaint is that I've found I had to lower my cal intake by 100 because my weight-loss seems to have hit a plateau... although part of that might have to something to do with me getting a bit lazy in the exercise department ;). Anyway, if you guys have any advice on how to move past these annoying plateaus, aside from the obvious, I'd love to hear it. I've heard that cycling between varying levels of calories (1200 one day, 1400 the next, 1600 on the third, wash, rinse, repeat) can trick your metabolism into not adjusting to your diet, but that seems a bit too good to be true. :halfempty I'm actually amazed that I don't ever feel overly hungry, as I expected to when I first started counting cals. It's pretty easy to pack a satisfying amount of food into a 1400/day diet, so long as you know which foods have a lower calorie concentration... baby carrots and low cal soups are a god send, haha. |
Todays totals:
calories 1227 fat: 19g 16% carbs: 186g 55% protein: 81g 29% fiber:32 calories and fat were on the low side, but I'm adjusting calories for supper tomorrow night. Oktoberfest starts at Old Chicago and my husband wants to go, so that means beer and pizza. This week has been good so far. It doesn't seem as busy as last week but its only Tuesday. CoolMom75: thanks for the recipe...I think I'll make it this weekend, it sounds really yummy. Soontobe: I know what you mean about getting stuffed after a burger and fries. I used to get the super sized version and eat the whole thing and sometimes still be hungry, now I get a reg sized meal and can't finish the whole thing without making myself sick. Edzard: I know what ya mean about being busy all the time. It seems like once August rolls around we are running nonstop til May. Tinky009:Have fun in San Diego. You'll have to let us know how the trip was when you get back. Take Care Bridgette. |
Hi all! I'm a newbie to the calorie counting and to 3fc. I just joined 3fc earlier this week. I have never counted calories before. I am becoming much more aware of what I eat and how much I eat. A major problem I had was portion control. I am overcoming that and starting to exercise. My goal is to stay below 1600 calories/day. I was adding up yesterdays cals and I was shocked at how many calories I had, not because I went over, but because I was under 1000. I know that's not healthy so I'm trying to find the happy medium.

Popping in to say hello! :)
|
Todays Totals:
calories: 1244 fat: 35 26% carbs: 177 54% protein: 60 20% fiber: 17 Well my trip to Old Chicago was cancelled :( A lady I work with called in so I had to cover her shift.. on the brightside look at all those calories I saved. I'll probably need em for the football game on Sat.. GO HUSKERS! Welcome to Calorie Counting Andi! This is the only thing that has worked for me, everything else I give up within a month. So far this time around its 8 weeks and counting :carrot: |
Thank you Dream! It's weird, this weekend I was sitting around and it just hit me to start counting the calories, don't know why, but Monday morning it was like "I can do this and I will do this!"... I bought one of those calorie counting books at Barnes & Noble yesterday after my son's football practice, then my hubby decided to take us to Carrabba's for dinner...I was looking through the menu "can't have that... can't have that... nope that would kill the calorie count... nope can't have that either..." LOL I thought my husband was going to smack me! The nice thing was at the end of dinner, he actually turned down desert as he knew I wouldn't eat any of it.
Dream, where are you at in Nebraska? |
Andi, Currently I'm in GI. My husbands job makes us move quite a bit. In the last 5 years we have lived in four different towns. He's been trying to move up in the company this year which means another move. Where are you?
Bridgette. |
Okay so today's calorie count will not be the greatest I have had this week. It was not supposed to be a good day at work because of a press release that came out where I work. Needless to say management stepped up and ordered over 300 pizzas for 1000 people, my manager and her manager both brought in dounuts (Krispy Kreme and Winchell's) and someone brought in a birthday cake...and guess where the sweets sit...on a table right behind me. So not nice. I have avoided the cake and only ate 1/2 of a Krispy Kreme original glaze, but I have a feeling the pizza is going to do me in. It will be work-out Mania tonight!
Oh and Bridgette, I live in the big O! .... at least for the next year and a half... waiting for hubby to get done with his PhD so we can get out of cornhuskerville. |
Haven't been around in a while and I see everyone has disappeared. I thought I would just check in in case anyone is lurking and not posting and hopefully we can revive things.
Things are going well for me on my program. As you can see I am losing steadily. DH is now helping me on the weekends which is a huge bonus for me because that is when I have always fallen and regained all I lost. I have 4 more pounds to lose by the end of this month to reach my September goal. Wish me luck! I will check back later to see if anyone has posted. Miss you all! |
I'm around! I just found I was posting regularly in sooo many threads. But on quiet mornings like this .... I have a peek at everyone :mag:
|
I'm doing the calorie counting thing, but to be honest I think that the occasional treat every few weeks or something (like dinner out at restaurant) is fine....
I'm hoping it'll work, one high calorie meal in 6-10 weeks isn't going to make a huge difference really is it? - So long as we eat sensibly and don't go over board! |
You're right mynxie ... the occassional treat doesn't effect your overall average calories much.
|
I am liking the calorie average thing, watching how my calories go over a 7 day period. The more I think about it the more it makes sense, plus it keeps things varied to keep from boredom and plauteau's, just gotta make sure there are more down days than up ;)
Hey GrammyL good to see your still doing well, I think people have just gotten busy, I know I have! Have a great weekend all. |
Good to see there are people still around. I totally understand the busy part and it is the reason I wasn't around. I was sticking with my plan but I also post on another web site for the program I am doing. I just couldn't possibly keep up with everyone.
Another pound gone today. WHOHOO! I think I over did it yesterday and I am paying with being totally drained today and I am fighting a cold. I took cold medicine before I went to bed and I just can't shack the sleepiness part of it. I can almost her me snoring as I post. HAHAHAHA! Have to get going and will talk at you all on Monday. TGIF! |
