  • Wednesday 1661 calories, 31% fat...I went overboard at dinner. Did you know that the skin from a whole chicken is over 500 calories and 49g of fat? I like to grill beer can chicken and in the past I've eaten all the crispy skin from the whole bird. Yesterday I threw all the skin away except for 2 wings, which I ate. It was just enough to satisfy me and I learned that if I let the chicken sit for awhile the skin gets sort of soggy and loses it's crispiness. So, I guess I'm making babysteps!

    My goals for August:
    1) Eat less than 1600 calories per day
    2) Total fat % per day between 25-30%
    3) Get into the 170s!

    Thanks for letting me share!
    Have a great Thursday!
  • GOOOOOOOD Morning All!

I see we have lots of new people joining in. Welcome all, this is a fantastic group and very helpful, I love it here.

    Calories yesterday were 1752.
Exercise: 20 minute walk, cleared horse pasture of burrs (7 garden cart loads and 2 hrs later I finally finished and that was only one paddock).

I have attached some pictures of DGS with his first experience of really getting dirty and from our vacation. I also attached some more pictures of him and the chickens. He just loves those crazy birds. First thing when he gets up he wants in there and he walks around clucking.

Zenor ~ All our chickens are Bantam's but that is just the general breed. There are different types of bantams and we have several of them but really no clue on what is what. The scarry thing is I was the one against getting them and now I want more. There are so many types of bantams and I would like to get a few other breeds that we don't have. Silkies are beautiful and DD and I both want to get some. We have 11 right now but some have to go because we have WAY to many roosters. I think at least 6 are roosters. The Amish that made our harness said they would take them but warned us they would be dinner.

Coolmom ~ What a day, I would be a little irritated from that trip. I am also going to start doing more home cooking.

My goal for this month is less restaurant eating also. I watched "Honey we are kiling our kids" last night and the family ate fast food all the time. In one day each child was eating enough fat from fast food to equal a stick of butter. I knew it was bad for you but not that bad.

I took YDD to the doctor yesterday and I think there are some changes that are going to take place, not sure how I am going to approach it. She weighed 251 lbs and her blood pressure was high and she is only 17. We joined Curves and we are doing that 3 times a week but her eating is out of controll. Anyone have any idea's. I normally let her be but her blood pressure is a serious issue and its not the first time it has been high. DH has also ballooned in the last 6 months and is starting to concern me. He said he is sure he is close to 400 lbs and I believe him. This is no longer a laughing matter where we joke about our weight, we have to do something before something happens to someone.

Well I better get g oing and get some work done. Will check back in a while.

  • Pictures didn't upload, here are the rest.

  • Lara: I watch that show often but missed that episode. On of the episodes I was watching yesterday afternoon said that the children were consuming enough calories each WEEK to amount to 5 pounds of pure fat. Really makes you think.

Just thought I would stop in real quick and state my goals for August before I hop on the treadmill to walk during Ellen.

    1. Stay between 1300-1700 calories each day.
    2. Lower my sodium to average 2400/day.
    3. Do structured exercises at LEAST 6 times a week.
    4. I'm only 11 pounds away from my first mini goal, think I can make it by the end of August?

    Have a great day all!
  • Good Morning all!! My calories were low yesterday.
    I think I had about 1276
    and 30 grams of Fiber

Wow... to all the newbies that just joined us! This is getting to be a strong group we have here! We can do this ladies!! Let's all get these pounds off!

GrammyL- Your DGS is just too cute for words! Did the Dr. talk to your YDD? It took a little heart to heart for me to realize. As for your DH, I'm working on DF, he is slowly getting up there. I sometimes cringe when I see him eat like 3 slices of pizza knowing that each slice contains up to 700-800 calories a slice. I don't know how to approach him, other than ask him to join me on walks or working out,but those are seldom. I want to drag is butt to the Dr.s but he doesn't want to go. Ugh! I'm worried that I will be a young widow or something. It's tough! When you find a solution let me know, will ya?

Brightside- I used to love the skin until I found out that, thats where all the fat and calories are. I took baby steps too! You can do it!

Well I gotta head back to work, I'm trying to clean out my office! Ugh! LOL!
  • Weigh in this morning: 145.4

Why doesn't my body wan't to lose that .4 so I can say I have lost 20 pounds?!?

I really want to be 140 by the time school starts but at this rate I don't think so... I will try super hard though! I think school starts on august 24th? I need to read my summer reading and do my senior project ugggh!

I had a tasty breakfast- yogurt and flax seeds! I figured it was a good way to get fiber in my diet since I have been pretty low in fiber the past week.

EDIT! I forgot the main point of this post!! Ok so after I got my hair done I went shopping in the mall for new clothes and we went to the Gap. I got three really cute shirts, 1 skirt, and 2 pairs of PANTS! I tried on the pants and you won't believe what size fit me... an 8! Last time I went shopping a size 12 wouldn't zip up and I refused to try anything else on. Now I look great in 8's
  • RocknRoll - Congrats on the size 8s! I'm sure you felt great! I'm doing some major shopping next weekend, for the first time since beginning to lose weight, and I'm hoping I'll see a small difference in the way clothes are fitting!
  • Wow thanks for all the warm welcomes! I am SO BUSY at work today, but I wanted to take a minute and report on yesterday:

    1632 Calories, 29g (17%)f, 206g (44%) c, 106g (27%) p, 25g (12%) alcohol. I also walked just shy of 10 miles yesterday and did a 20 minutes abs tape.

    Thanks for the support!

    Tiffany
  • I hope you all dont mind me jumping in i started well i should say RE started cal counting last week and lost 2 lbs
  • Yesterdays stats:

    Cals: 1572
    Fat: 21g, 12%
    Carbs: 304g, 68%
    Protein: 73g, 19%
    Fiber: 44g

My carbs almost always come from mostly veggies but yesterday we got stuck running errands during lunch so I bought picnic sandwich-makings and had a rare-for-me roll with the meat and veggies. The store I stopped at had only crappy water (Aquafina and Dasani -- neither of which I like) so I also had a Sprite. I should have at least bought a juice instead. Oops. I didn't even think of juice until we were already eating.
  • I kinda got summoned to work this morning and took off without food. The best selection in the cafeteria was an egg salad sandwich! I'd feel a whole lot better now if I coulda spread those cals out over a few more hours.

I've had some oatmeal since I got home but I'm still at 52% fats!!
  • Morning all! Thanks again for being so open to new friends! This is going to really help me stay motivated to keep within my calorie limit since I'll report in every day.

Yesterday I consumed 1294 calories - 54g fat (biggest culprit was half an avacado I smashed up and ate with some garlic and tomatoes in a whole wheat pita), 130g carbs, and 86g protein - 40%/32%/28%. I had 32g of fiber. According to fitday I burned 460 calories doing two twenty minute exercise show segments and walking four miles.

Today's menu shows 1285 calories. I will stick to it!!!

    Kara
  • Good evening everyone!

Today's calorie counts were high to counteract two 1000-1100 days.

Calories: 1798 (this includes my after-dinner snack that I haven't eaten yet).
    Fat: 23%
    Carbs: 55%
    Protein: 21%
    Fiber: 20

I am having such a hard time with sodium counts. Carbs were also very high today; I had to take the kids I nanny to lunch and of course they picked Larosas. I had a salad and half a Philly Chicken with no sauce. I also ate a lot of cereal today- it's my weakness.

Tomorrow should be a pretty average day, about 1400 calories.
  • Ohhkay - I'm a nanny also, and the boys I sit for can be bad influences, too, haha. We also went out to lunch today, and they chose Chick-fil-a, one of my FAVORITE places! I just couldn't resist the chicken nuggets, so I got a kids meal 4-pack. Tomorrow we're going to the movies, and I'm already worried about the popcorn! I only have one more week left with them though, and then I start teaching, so it should be easier for me to stay on track, then.
  • Brittany: I'm also going to school to be a teacher. Two more years to go. Yes, the girls I watch like to snack snack snack, and Larosas is their favorite lunch out. We don't do the movies (thank goodness) but even the foods they have at their house are hard to get around. I have to really think and search to prepare a low cal meal. And speaking of Chick-Fil-A, we have one in the food court right across the store I work in and it's SO hard to resist!! Luckily I've made it past Chick-Fil-A to Subway each day that I've had to work, but it is DEFINITELY one of my favorites!!
