Question Carb question

Hi everyone!! I have a question regarding carbs, my average for the past two months in my meals every day is about 48% carbs. Is that too much?

Some members here forcus on percentages a lot...but I am a little different. I think what is the most important, is WHAT the actual foods are that you are consuming-rather than the percentages of carb grams, fat grams, etc.

What I mean is, someone could have a lower fat or carb percentage than you...but if your carbs are coming from vegetables, fruits, and whole grains-it is healthier than someone who has a lower carb percentage-but their carbs came from 100 Calorie Packs of little snacky things. Does that make sense?

You can have a "perfect" diet as far as percentages of everything and the calories...but if the foods aren't that great, then it is only part of the story. Someone can have 20-30% of the fat in their diet come from nuts and olive oil, or it can come from sausage and donuts.

I would concentrate more on the QUALITY of the food that you eat, rather than the percentages of this and that-especially if you are looking not just for weight loss, but optimal health.

Everyone has a different theory on the best proportion of carbs/protein/fat. Personally, I just try to eat mostly high-quality carbs (whole grains, fruits) avoiding lower-quality carbs (sugars, refined flour) and not worry about percentages. I find that I average around 50% carbs that way. Works for me!

I don't think carbs are as evil as some make them out to be. That said, everyone is different and needs to follow what works for them.

I agree that it's probably more important where your carbs are coming from. Are they coming from whole grains? Fruit? I don't think you should limit healthy (whole grain, whole fruits & veg) carbs. Personally I try to stay away from too many refined carbs, but I do have a little on occasion.

how is your eating plan working for you?
Are you happy and satisfied?
Or are you having some cravings?
Is the weight hanging on forever and it takes a ton of effort just to get off a lb?

If everything is working fine then leave your precentages as they are.
If you are having cravings, or the weight is very stubborn, you could try knocking back the carb count a bit and replace it with protein.
Some people are so carb sensitive that it makes it harder to lose weight when they ingest even moderate "healthy" amounts of carbs..

I think mine averages around 40% carb, and honestly I cant beleive I am losing on that as I always considered myself extremely carb sensitive, but my cals are low and I do work out as well. PLus the 40% is not from frosting and wine gums, its from real food with a mostly low GI.
