Alrighty, I had another good day yesterday, except I went to bed early bc I was too lazy to exercise! Note to self: Don't put it off TOO late or you won't do it..
I am still on a downward trend from thursday, I am hoping for 2lbs lost this week :)
Here's what my friday looked like:
breakie: 1 pc whole wheat toast with becel lite
3 oz cottage cheese, one peach, coffee
snack: 1 orange
lunch: one pita pizza with taco ground chicken, 1oz cheese and salsa
snack: 3/4 cup fat free sugar free chocolate pudding, prepared
supper: 4oz salmon, 1.5c vegetable medley

Hoping to get in turbo jam and some other form of exercise today !!:D

Hi everyone! I just started calorie counting last week. I've been lurking, you all are such an inspiration! So many good ideas and useful links!

I just did my first weigh in and lost 6lbs ( I know most is water weight- but it still is 6 lbs gone!) I love calorie counting! I tried SB last summer, did great for 2 1/2 weeks, but fell off the carb wagon! I don't feel deprived at all with Calorie counting!

My son is also counting calories with me, he's my real motivation. He lost 3 lbs on his first week which is AWESOME! I searched high and low for years trying to get weight control help for him. All the doctors and nutritionists were no help. By calorie counting, he is aware of the choices he makes everyday. He knows he can still have *treats* and enjoy food AND loose weight. He is impulsive when it comes to food, so this is making him think about what he's eating before he puts it in his mouth. And he is feeling great!

So thanks for all sharing all of your feelings and ideas. I look forward to getting to know you all!

Carrie- Thanks for the advice. I looked on info for the Diva Cup...it looks interesting, I might try it for the next time. I heard the same about Evening Primrose oil too. I exercised yesterday, and wish I took it slow, but since I rested for two days, I needed to exercise.

I also wish that I didn't volunteer to work on the nursing floor today at work too!! Ugh...I was in no shape or mood to work! LOL But oh well....

Well tonight we plan on having a Mexican fiesta! I ate light most of the day to fit the calories for tonight! :)
I also popped up on the scale today, and was pleasantly surprised! Though it wasn't my official weigh in day. It's suppose to be on Wednesday. I was busy weighing my residents, so I hopped on it myself.

Well Happy Cinco De Mayo everyone!!! Have a great Saturday!

This might be good for a laugh/cry for you all. I will have to post later, just have to get this off my chest. For those of you who don't know, Lela is 26 months and Laurel and Olivia are 4 1/2 months. To set the scene, picture Lela's twin bed pushed again the wall with our queen bed pushed against it. Laurel and Olivia sleep with us in our bed, so we put all three girls to bed at the same time.

"I just put down all the girls (Mike is doing a canoe tour tonight) by myself and it was insane! I had to lay Laurel and Olivia down to brush and floss Lela's teeth, and they started screaming. They were so worked up by the time I got Lela's diaper on her (had to change her because she promptly peed in the first diaper - I asked her before I put it on if she had to go, and she said "no" - but it was probably just a "no" for the sake of saying it) that I couldn't get them settled. They nursed together for about 15 minutes, but couldn't settle down to go to sleep, because they were apparent still mad at me for leaving them on the bed for 5 minutes while I got Lela ready. So they took turns screaming hysterically for 30 minutes - Olivia screamed and Laurel would stop nursing and listen, and then as soon as Livvy calmed down and started nursing (fitfully) again, Laurel would start screaming. Then Olivia would scream.....and over and over and over like this for 20 minutes. Lela is trying to wait patiently for me to start reading to her (holding a baby in the crook of my arm so I have a semi-free hand) but then she gets bored and probably equally frustrated at all the screaming. So she starts yelling and it just sets the babies off more. After changing nursing positions about 8 times, I finally got Livvy to calm down and I just had to let Laurel squabble on the other side of me and I helped her get her thumb (my saving grace) in her mouth. Lela was so tired she fell asleep as soon as the babies were quiet. Another 15 minutes to get them fully settled. = 60 minutes of bedtime **** - I can laugh about the absurdity of it now."

If there ever was a time for this smilie, it's now- :dizzy:. And this one - :fr:. And this one - :stress:.

CoolMom75 05-05-2007 09:52 PM

Sounds like the makings of a mommy tantrum for me. LOL

The few times my husband goes on a work trip, I get a major migraine the first night. We're pretty co-depedant.
.....................
I'm doing great with keeping in my calorie range. Not so great with the sodium. I caved and got Subway today, when I'm trying to cut back. LOL

cjc92802 05-06-2007 07:04 AM

Say what?!?!

Did my scale read 183.5 this morning?

Oh yea, you know it did. I'm excited that I'm GOING to make my first goal, and maybe even surpass it!

Oh yeah, here are my numbers for yesterday:

Total: 1928
Fat: 59 527 28%
Sat: 18 159 9%
Poly: 3 28 2%
Mono: 6 50 3%
Carbs: 249 924 49%
Fiber: 18 0 0%
Protein: 105 419 22%

BREAKFAST: oatmeal with wheat germ and raisins
SNACK: cottage cheese
LUNCH: "Jilpotle" bowl :) homemade Spanish brown rice with green peppers and corn, vegetarian refried beans, chicken, lettuce and salsa (mmmm, it was good!)
SNACK: yogurt, latte and chocolate scone (ouch....)
DINNER: 1/2 sandwich with lean steak and a slice of cheese

No Curves, no park, no exercise to speak of. My husband was supposed to be home at noon but didn't arrive until almost 3pm. We missed going to the town street festival because it started raining when he got home. But we went to our coffee shop and I had the latte and infamous scone (Iit was more like a cake, and I know it packed a punch).

I was surprised to get such a low number on the scale after several "bad" days in a row (well, they weren't that bad, I just wasn't as strict as I usually am and 2 months ago they would have been considered "good" days).

Won't be going to Curves today either (closed) but I will be tackling mine and my husband's clothing (out with winter, in with summer). It's been a couple years since we've gone though the stuff. Maybe I'll find something in there that I can wear (there's stuff ranging from 6-1? in there).

Welcome Luc' mom! glad to have you here even though I'm new myself.

cjc92802 sorry about your baby bed time trouble. You sound like you handled the situation as best you could. I know you be happy when your hubby can help again. On the bright side how cool is it about you reaching your first goal? There is no doubt your going to pass it.

Tinky009 05-06-2007 01:16 PM

Morning or Afternoon (depending on where you are).

Carrie- I read about your time with your girls! Awwwwww.....I'm sorry you had a rough time! But Congrats on having the scale go down!!!! Isn't just a great feeling when numbers go down? That is so exciting that you are going to surpass your goal soon!!!

Luc'sMom- :welcome2: I'm pretty new myself, but it's always nice to see a new face!!! Good Luck with your goals!

CoolMom- Sodium is an issue with me....hence my borderline hypertension. I need to really cut it down! If it's not one thing, it's another! LOL

Well Happy Sunday Everyone! I hope it's nice. I've had a rough weekend, the new puppy peed on me last night after he bit me. He also yelps and whines alot when you leave him alone for two seconds. Not earning very many cute points with me, but my DF adores him. UGH! :nono:

CoolMom75 05-06-2007 08:15 PM

Its pizza again tonight. That's once a week, and I calculated out the calories ahead of time, so not bad!

Cals 1691 (averaged a little over 1500 this week, so met my goal to cut back a little from the 17-1800)

Sodium average is 4200 a day! Wow. 2400 seems impossible, unless I cut out cheese completely.

Natalia 05-06-2007 10:02 PM

Well, I made a couple not-so-great choices today...I did have about 1/2 cup of ice cream, and I scraped the frosting off a piece of cake and ate it! lol The frosting, not the cake ..Ironically I took the cake out of the fridge to throw it out so it wouldnt be tempting:o Man I love frosting..

So, not perfect BUT got right back on track immediately, plus I did 40min of turbo jam and 50min on the bike today :)

Breakie- 1pc toast with becel lite, 3oz cottage cheese, 1 peach
snack- 0.75oz walnuts
Just before lunch: 1/2 c ice cream, a couple Tbsp's frosting
Lunch: pita piza
Snack: 1 orange
Supper: 4oz steak, cukes and tomatoes with Renees

Luc's mom 05-07-2007 08:47 AM

Good Monday morning everyone! Boy it's quiet around here this morning. Everybody at work? I'm checking in before my work week begins <argh!>

Hope you all had a great weekend. I found myself craving more dairy & protein than usual, could be because of TOM??? So, I upped my calories a bit, figure I should listen to my body, as long as I don't cave.

Carrie- Your post about the bed time fiasco brought back many memories for me. I remember many bed times like that, minus the twin factor! Forget about needing extra calories for nursing, you need them just to survive the day!

Coolmom- Pizza night, yummy! That sounds like a nice break from the dinner time norm around here. I know Lucas would enjoy that. Any particular kind you buy that is lower in cal/ fat?

Natalia- LOL- how can you not cave to cake? You get brownie points for not eating the frosting! I think you more then made up for it with that grueling workout. Makes me feel like a slacker compared to my weekend exercise (which was zippo!)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I better get my day going.
Hope you have a great Monday.

cjc92802 05-07-2007 09:03 AM

Tinky - I love my DivaCup. I no longer dread my TOM. It's a great alternative that works better, is better for the environment, better for your health and better for your wallet!

Natalia - Great job getting back on track. I love calorie counting because there is no such thing as cheating. You make choices, but then you are accountable to them.

All - I posted that bedtime story because I thought it was pretty funny, and I didn't want you all to feel bad for me! Bedtimes are usually very easy, but like coolmom said, we're co-dependant. Everything goes smoothly under the current system. Last night we all fell asleep at 7:30 and Mike and I didn't wake up until about 10pm. We missed eating dinner, but the sleep was needed more!

And 183.0 was on the scale this morning. Wow.....I can tell a difference but I still have a long way to go. I was looking back at some pictures of myself around 175. I can remember seeing them at the time and thinking, "man, am I really that big?" Now I think, "I can't wait to be that size again!" But I will be a more fit 175 this time, that's for sure!

Yesterday's numbers:

Total: 1495
Fat: 32 289 20%
Sat: 8 75 5%
Poly: 6 58 4%
Mono: 11 103 7%
Carbs: 197 699 49%
Fiber: 22 0 0%
Protein: 112 448 31%

Fat was finally down, protein good and carbs were about right. No formal exercise, though. Today I go to Curves when he gets home from work.

BREAKFAST: oatmeal with wheat germ and cinnamon
SNACK: cottage cheese and grapes
LUNCH: salad with chicken and chickpeas
SNACK: "Jilpotle" bowl with spanish rice, refried beans, chicken, lettuce and salsa, oatmeal cookie
DINNER: sleeping

zenor77 05-07-2007 12:35 PM

Well, this weekend was good and bad. Friday & Sunday weren't too bad calorie wise, but Saturday was a disaster! Over 3000 calories!!! More than twice what I normally eat. Yikes! The scale went up one lb, but I think that may be water weight (I feel bloated~too much salt this weekend.) If it's still there tomorrow I guess I'll move up my ticker. :?:

Oh well, back to it! I'll just have to be extra good this week to make up for it.

On the bright side, I had a NSV yesterday. I bought size 12 jeans. :D

Luc's Mom~ :welcome2:

Oh, and we are finally getting our new computer tomorrow. Yay!

Natalia 05-07-2007 05:25 PM

12's ? I'm jealous! Right now I'm in between a 14 and 16, I'm actually happy to get into my favorite 14's right now, I think it's been about 2-3 years since I last have :o I've been wearing yoga pants for 3 years so I could stay in DENIAL about the real size of my belly. Not anymore!

Of course, right outta the dryer they are a tad snug until I break them in for about an hour, and then they're great. I am so looking forward to getting these ones loose on me, too.

I seem to be losing slowly, but I'm tired to playing the victim. Now every day I tell myself how HAPPY and THANKFUL I am that I LOSING instead of maintaining or gaining!!!

Mini goal- get to 160lbs by May 31 :) (I'm 167 right now) :carrot:

CoolMom75 05-07-2007 08:23 PM

That's so cool about the size drop, Zenor!

I'm in a 16 still, and just today I grabbed out the 14s just to see. Lets just say I have a little ways to go. LOL
