Hi Abbyin - we must have posted at the same time. I agree that 3FC (CC in particular) has been a wonderful support network. It really helped me get off on the right (healthy) foot, and helped me through the first few difficult days of my nutrional and exercise overhaul. I also find a lot of inspiration from the folks in maintenance and the post of goals and mini goals. I am looking forward to being a big "loser" here as well.

Today's Total: 1766
Fat: 67 34%
Carbs: 182 36%
Fiber: 25
Protein: 130 30%

My percentages were pretty wonky today, but I did have eggs for breakfast....

BREAKFAST: coffee, light soymilk, 1 egg scrambled with soysage and Parmesan cheese, 1 piece whole wheat toast
SNACK: lowfat cottage cheese and cheddar bunnies
LUNCH: steak fajitas on whole wheat tortillas, a few tortilla chips and salsa
SNACK: large bowl on diced cantalope
DINNER: small slice meatloaf, 1/2 potato with butter, large salad with chickpea and turkey

Didn't go to Curves today, but I had a lot of exercise sorting through baby clothes. Put away toddler winter clothes, pull out toddler summer clothes. Pack away 0-3 month stuff FOREVER! Pull out 3-6 month summer infant clothes. Oh yeah, and organized it all, as it was just tubs (3 enormous ones) full of clothes!

Didn't drink my water like I should....only about 2L today. I'm going to drink the rest of the evening to try to get up to 4L, but I'll still be at a defecit today and will be bloated tomorrow.......:(

Have a great evening everyone!

Happy May!

I've been busy and MIA again, but just wanted to say hello. I leave for the beach tomorrow -- no I didn't make the beach goal, but I'm plugging along very slowly. Will be back and checking in after the beach.

Hope everyone has a good week!

A Big Change In My Plan!!

Okay, I've finally set myself up with specific goals and dates (had been loose with that before). And I've moved up my Ultimate Goal - an entire year! I had given myself 2 years to lose the 60 pounds. But I don't want to wait 2 years, I want to do it in one! I think that it is realistic (at this point, I'd need to lose 1 pound a week to meet that goal) - don't you?

I'm so excited - I needed to push myself hard, because I'm capable of more than I'm doing right now. I really owe it to myself, for years of low self esteem and even self loathing, to look and feel my best.

CoolMom75 05-02-2007 11:00 PM

Lordy, only a couple days off the lunch meat and salty processed foods AND back on my green tea and I already dumped the excess water weight. I can feel the 180 goal just around the corner, then I'll have to come up with my next short term goal. :)

My brother called wanting us all to go out to eat, and I feel bad keeping us in because of my diet. So we went out and everybody ate but me. I had tea. Oh well, there really was nothing there I could eat. (Red Robin)

cals today: 1476

zenor77 05-03-2007 12:47 AM

Calories today~ 1409
Fiber~44 grams

I completely agree with everyone about diet restrictions! There is no way I could handle someone telling me what to eat! The funny thing is that I think I eat healthier with the calorie counting because I can eat more of healthy foods. Plus, I swear "bad" food tastes better when it's just an occasional treat and not an everyday thing.

Lovemyboy~ Congrats on the loss!

Walking~ Have fun at the beach!

Cjc~ I think you are doing great and a year doesn't seem too fast to lose 60lbs. I don't know how the breast feeding effects that, but it seems like a reasonable goal. I like to set goals for myself too. It helps me to have something to strive for, but if I come up a little short I don't beat myself up over it (or I try not too.)

Coolmom~ I wish Red Robin would post nutritional info on their website! I agree that there is probably nothing there that I could eat as well.

Carrie
I agree with the others, You are doing great with your Goals. I think you can do 60 pounds pretty easy. Thats just 5 pounds a month. So Who knows...You might even surpase your own goals. Chasing around all day with 2 babys straped on you, As they get bigger. You will work even harder.
And just wait till they walk! You will be a skinny miny! :cheer:

Zoe,
Way to go! you are doing a better job than I could have. I would have had to eat something! (red robins)

Lovemyboy
congrates on the 2.2 pounds. :cheer: Thats a good healthy loss for 1 week.

Zenor
40 pounds is impressive! How long did that take you? I am hoping to have about 30 off by my birthday in July. The big 5-0. That will be a good mile marker.

Welcome Tinky and Heather. :welcome3:
This website is a good place to learn what to do for loosing your weight and doing it healthy. Glad you found it.

I started on Epiphany (Jan 6th.) Hey, I realized how funny that is... my weightloss "epiphany."

I lost 8lbs the first week (I think it was all water~I used to be a big soda drinker and I must have been retaining a lot of water.) Then I've lost approx 2lbs a week since then (except for my little plateau.) I'm amazed at how fast it has come off! I guess this is just proof that being stubborn is helpful!

My birthday is in July too! I'm turning the big 3-0, that is actually partly what prompted my wanting to lose. I want to look good on my birthday.

BTW, you don't look anywhere near 50! I don't see any wrinkles or creases in your profile picture. You must take good care of your skin.

littlered 05-03-2007 02:09 PM

Zenor
Aw shucks :o Thanks.
I do have a few very fine wrinkles. but not much. Good Skin (lucky!) and Staying out of the sun (Mostly) . Considering I smoked most of the last 30 yrs, I am surprised too.

I think your right about how fast its coming off! And being stubborn.
Thats a very big part of it for me. That And how much my hubby is liking my weight loss. I feel guilty for not having done it before.
Poor guy! never ever complained about me being overweight. I feel I owe it to him. (And myself! )

My bd is the 19th. dd is the 20th and dgd is the 29th. So July's going to be busy.

CoolMom75 05-03-2007 04:33 PM

Yup, 179.8 this morning! Wooohoooo!

Now for my next goal. hmmm. 160 by July 11th. My baby will be 4 months old. :)

zenor77 05-03-2007 04:52 PM

Coolmom~ Way to go! Those pounds seem to be flying off of you! :yay:

Littlered~ My cousin's is on the 4th, mine's the 5th, & my aunt and sister are on the 9th, so July is a busy month for us too. My Mom always joked about our family being prone to cold Octobers.

Natalia 05-03-2007 06:10 PM

Hi guys! I have been reading the calorie counter section frequently, can I join in?

The thing is, I am not actually a calorie counter. But I don't fit in with any of the organized plans here so I feel like I most belong here..(I go to a local weight loss place that doesnt have any franchises in the US yet, I see a trainer weekly and I get menu plans which I can pick an choose from and get 1200-1350 cals a day pretty much :)

I started at the end of March and so far have lost 9.5 lbs, I am averaging a good week, then a not so good week, then another good one, etc. Last week I lost 4lbs, this week 0.5lbs. lol

Here's today's menu:
breakie: 3oz cottage cheese, 1 pear
snack- orange
lunch- pita pizza with ground chicken and 1oz cheese
snack- apple
supper- grilled chicken caesar salad, no bacon or croutons

I look forward to getting to know you all better!

cjc92802 05-03-2007 09:02 PM

Hi Natalia - welcome!

Theresa - Oh, please don't talk about them walking! They are already trying to sit up. They are 4 1/2 months old and can balance for a few seconds if they are sitting just right.

I don't know what my husband thinks about my weight loss. I really think I look better, but he doesn't seem to really care one way or the other. He did want to take me out this week ("You can wear one of your new outfits" he said) so we're going tomorrow to the "Fiesta" - it's a Hispanic cultural party/festival at night.

zenor - I'm 28 (just turned, end of March) and my original ultimate goal was my 30th. But, as I posted earlier, my new goal is next year, on my 29th b-day.

Theresa and zenor - Go stubborn women, go! I'm one of you, too!

coolmom - Great loss!

All - thanks for the feedback on my new goals. I originally didn't want to have any goals, because I didn't want to acknowledge that I was on a "diet". That meant that I was overweight (actually, my BMI says I'm considered obese, but my ideal weight (about 140) is when I look the best for my height (5'4") and 140 is almost considered overweight for my height - but if I go any lower I don't look good) (man, was that a ramble!), and I didn't want to accept that I was very overweight and had a long road ahead of me. (It's been a long road getting to this point, so it makes sense it would take a long time to work it off.)

Now that I have fixed, achievable goals, I'm even more motivated. I printed out my goals and made a "ticker" to post on my fridge. I'm making a little magnet for the ticker, too. I'm kind of embarassed about my husband seeing my weight (187) but even more embarassed that he will see my high (200!). Hitting 200 on the scale was what really did it for me. Wow, I thought - that's what a 6'4" tall man should weigh.

But whatever, my husband doesn't really care. He only approves now because I'm so much happier. :D

Here's what went on here today:

Total: 1481
Fat: 49 31%
Carbs: 161 40%
Fiber: 18
Protein: 100 28%

BREAKFAST: 1 egg, soysage, 1/2 piece whole wheat toast
SNACK: Kashi pumpkin spice flax granola bar
LUNCH: large salad with chickpeas
SNACK: 1/2 c. lowfat cottage cheese, flank steak
DINNER: 11 pieces sushi (4 cucumber rolls, 4 tuna rolls, 3 California rolls)
DESSERT: ? ? ?

EXERCISE: 2.2 mile walk in the park, pushing stroller, wearing both babies. Most people would balk at the thought of wearing nearly 30 pounds of babies (I call them and my slings/wraps the living straight-jacket) but since I've been doing it since they weighed less than 10 pounds COMBINED, I'm perfectly comfortable walking long distances like that. Then we played on the playground for about 1 - 1.5 hours.

Also did 30 minutes at Curves. It was a so-so workout. I was feeling kind of tired, so I would work really hard and get my HR up, then I'd poop out a few stations later. I think I may have been working too hard the last few days and needed a day off. Tomorrow I will have one, and we're going out on the town with the girls tomorrow night.

Later, losers! :grouphug:

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to calorie counting myself and figured I'd post. I've been counting for a week tomorrow....weigh in day! I'm nervous and curious at the same time. I've kept my calories between 1100 - 1400 each day, been drinking my water with an occasional diet soda for when I just gotta have one. Haven't had time for a lot of exercise but my little 3 year old keeps me on my feet most of the time and my 5 month old mini-wiener dog Oscar has me chasing him all over, so that's gotta count for something. I hope tomorrow's weigh in goes well, I'll post back with my numbers...Wish me Luck!

Tinky009 05-03-2007 11:31 PM

Hello all! I've been crazy busy for the last 2 days!! I'm trying to keep up with myself! LOL Though I've really kept up with my calorie count, and have made smart choices. We also just brought home a new puppy for our current puppy.
He's a cute like Min Pin/Pug mix. He looks more Min Pin. I forgot what I went through when we brought Jade home for the first time! LOL I'm now functioning on 3 hours of sleep. Well I will write more later! Take care everyone!!
