Justme ~ Congrats on the halfway marker! Your right 6 lbs in the right direction is fantastic. Sounds like you are like me and just want this done and over with but I have so far to go that I can’t get impatient. For me I know slow is better so my skin has time to come back. I take all my old cloths to Goodwill and donate them.
Claire ~ DH as home all weekend so she stayed away. I talked with DH and my boss about what they think I should do because they both know my personality well, DH better than my boss but my boss is a people person and DH isn’t. Both said the same thing, just tell here you going to ride your horse or drive the pony because you already got your exercise in for the day. She used to say but what about walking your dog. Last year I started walking my dog before I went to work because I realized that she is to lazy in the morning to walk, so it was me time and it got me in the right state of mind for the day. Zenor ~ Those are the best treats. I can never come up with anything that I want or need. Thanks for the recipe, I am going to give it a try. I have always been a big fan of Sloppy Joes since I was a kid. Probably because my Dad hated them. I really think they need to stop making those tight shirts. I work at a university and these young ladies where them and they are so unflattering unless they are a tooth pick. I refuse to buy them because I don’t want to show my bulges. Bobby ~ My childhood was the same way. Always wanted a horse but my Dad wouldn’t let me. We had the property just he felt its a novelty and something that wasn’t needed. So, my DH bought me a horse for my birthday, what a nag but it was a horse. I boarded her and after 5 months of dealing with her we sold her and bought Smoke. I have had him every since. He more than made up for my nasty first horse. Theresa ~ OH, I was cringing for your DH’s fingers. Last year I got a sliver under my finger nail that I couldn’t pull out that went almost up to the base and they pealed my finger nail up without any pain killer. My poor DD had to hold a light for the doctor while he was doing it and blood was going everywhere. I looked up and she was ghost white and clammy looking so we made her sit down. All I can say is I know why they used that as a torture method. I would have spilled my guts to get that guy to stop. Zoe ~ I am more than lazy with FitDay. I am always tinkering with the numbers to make them match what I read on the package. I really like having all the calculations but don’t like adding and it takes me less than a minute to do it. Rockinrobin ~ I agree, I already keep a food journal and have been debating on just using fit day to look things up or use it just during the week because DH is going to be home on the weekends now and he doesn’t mind me doing my journal but frowns on the internet because that is time better spent as family time. I had a wonderful weekend but now I realize why I gain on weekends while DH is home. Its not that he slips me his thyroid medicine (hehehehe), its the lack of movement. I never realized until this weekend how much my DH likes to watch TV. I was within my calorie range to lose every single day but no loss for me. Some of it is probably water because DH wanted a nice ham dinner. I ate lots of cabbage, carrots, small potato and limited the ham to 3 oz but I still felt bloated this morning. Its already leaving so that is good. We were also brave and went to the new Super Wal*Mart this weekend. I bought my Lite Flatout’s (tomato, Italian, wheat), and some other goodies. It really is an amazing store but not a place I would stop after work to just pick something up. Its to large and busy for me. I didn’t realize it but the Flatout’s that I bought at Kroger are not the lite and have 140 calories with less fiber. I am not sure what to do with them but I am not going to eat them. GRRRR! Next time I will be paying attention. Well I better get going and talk at you all later. I am going to do department errands to get some exercise. |
Hey!!!:D
Last week was my first week that I ran a significant calorie deficit in a long time. I'm so excited! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: I slipped up a little bit on Saturday and Sunday (about 500 calories over each) but I didn't totally lose it like last weekend (more like 2000 over! :o) The scale this morning says I'm down EIGHT since last week but I think I'm pretty dehydrated, so I'm not going to count it unless it's still there tomorrow. Thanks for being here everyone! You help keep me motivated. |

Bobbi~ The Apple-Cranberry Fiber cakes are made by Zen bakery in Los Angeles. I get them at Trader Joe's, but you might be able to find them on the internet. I'll look to see if I can find someone online that sells them. They are great! They are sweetened with white grapes and the first ingredient is bran (I think there are only 6 or 7 ingredients total.) They're pretty big for the calories you get too. They are "regular" muffin size. Abetterme~ :welcome2: Rockinrobin~ :dancer: Congrats on the weightloss! It's really amazing to me how far you've come! Justme~ I find that late afternoon/early evening is the hardest time for me (when it comes to snacking.) I usually have a snack at 3pm, but it never lasts me until dinner. I try to drink water to make sure I'm not just thirsty, but when I'm really hungry it's so hard not to pick at stuff while I'm cooking. Susan~ I have to plan ahead or the damage would be really bad. I'm okay usually until I get to dinner, so I'm always looking for different low-cal dinner recipes. I love flavor, so I take pleasure in the "hunt" for good recipes and ideas. It makes it fun for me. Everyone have a great day! |
I would have to agree with Allison on the preparing dinner or right when I first get home. I am just ready to eat so I usually try to have a salad or veggies. I also like evening snacking but I now figure in first thing a 100 calorie pack of popcorn to take care of that problem. I sometimes wonder why I like popcorn so much but I do.
Jman ~ That is a fantastic lose, CONGRATS! All your hard work paid off. |
My worst snacking time is about from the time I wake up until I go to bed. LOL
Okay, the Fiber One cereal with strawberries on it was delicious. I think I just burnt myself out on it with my 1st pregnancy weight loss, by eating is so much. Every time I'd see it at the grocery store I'd shudder. haha. But, its all good, and I had my usual amount of fiber (all day) in one low cal meal! Woohoo! |
Bobbi, don't get me wrong I most certainly DO count my calories. It's just that I KNOW what they are already. I eat a lot of the same stuff from day to day, week to week. And if I were eating a pickle and a tomato, I'd be counting it. I just don't see the need to record it all in Fitday. My menus are quite repetitive. But I don't measure my veggies, I eyeball um' and round up. I like it that way, cause quite honestly, by my counting up, I think I'm actually eating less calories. I KNOW I am overestimating and yes, that's what works for me. It's like the person who's always late and sets their clocks a few minutes ahead to "buy" himself some extra time.
Susan, I'm sorry I didn't understand what you meant by it's something I said. It's just not clicking in my brain for some reason. Thanks to you all for the congratulatory words. Zenor, I also like a lot of FLAVOR. I like to make very tasty things. I use tons of garlic and crushed red pepper and stuff. My worst time of day to snack I suppose would be when I'm preparing my food. I pick at whatever I'm cutting up. That's really why I must stick to veggies. And I do add it in, I have to. I'm a nibbler. I usually allow myself up to 200 calories to do so. Sometimes though I will stick a piece of gum in my mouth and it does help. Jman, I'm glad you had a better weekend. GREAT weightloss!!!! Congrats. |
Oh I remember Robin ... it was about planning and how you've simplified by eating the same basic breakfast .... I was flyin' by the seat of my pants there for a while and (among some other things) your post reminded my that I have to be more intentional than that.
Thanks for the poke ... I started simplifying by having my old standard shake for breakfast this morning. |
Yes, I find that we do have to be just that - intentional. Winging it is a recipe for eating off plan, IMO of course.
|
Oh, yeah, I have to enter everything into Fitday (aside from the 1/10th of a pickle, etc) or else my portions creep up. Plus, I have to consult it before each meal to see how much I have left to work with. :)
|
I map out my food scheduele a week in advance. I know what and how much. I make enough for for just one meal at a time, so there's no worries about portion control. There are no surprises and no room for extras.
After reading what I just wrote, it's no wonder my kids call me the food ****. Yikes. |
Hi, everyone.
http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/grouphugg.gif I am sending a hug for the kind words about my hubby. Took him to a Orthopedic surgeon this morning. He was there 2 hrs. He has 2 fingers with fractured tips. He is off today, and is supposed to be on light duty for 3-4 weeks. Hubby said next time something is wrong, He is getting a NEW treadmill. No more broken fingers!!! ABETTERME, welcome. You will love this group. Not only are they doing well and losing weight, they are funny too. :) Zoe, I try to use Fitday to my max. I put in everything I eat and drink. Even my vitamins, etc. It keeps me in line. As a newbie to all of this. I don't know most of them by heart yet. I try to plan my day in the morning. Sometimes the night before.Seems to be working. And at this point I like a large variety of things. Most of them seem to be on the healthy side. If I had to eat the same thing every day... I don't think I would do as well. Justme. I don't have a worst time of day. I plan my day for snacks in-between meals. Keeps me from just grabbing. Bobbie, I do have the sweetest hubby in the world. And don't think I don't tell him that everyday. 29yrs anniv. in august I agree that the apple cranberry fiber cake sounds real good. would love to try that one. :congrat: Congratulations to All of you girls that keep on losing. You are all an inspiration to me. Jman, keep up the good work. You can do it!! Oh! drink water! Got to go see what hubby needs later. |

Hello all.
I had a good weekend. It wasn't as low as what I would have liked. I did approximately 1800 on Saturday and 1900 on Sunday. I was hungry! I strive for 1800 max so not too bad. Today was 1526. I'll weigh tomorrow. All this fiber talk got me to buy Fiber One. I haven't tried it yet, maybe tomorrow for a snack. Justme... Like some of the others posted my worst time to snack is between the time I get home and the time that dinner is ready. I won't pick food as I'm cooking, but I'm sometimes so hungry that I can't wait to eat so I snack. I've been eating a piece of fruit before I leave work and that seems to help. abetterme... :welcome3: littlered... That just sounds so painful! I hope your hubby is on the mend. Ouch. jman, rockinrobin, and Petra... :dancer: Congratulations on the losses. Happy Monday everyone! |
