Smile Can I call this forum home?

I just joined yesterday (actually "rejoined") is more like it and made my intro on the main intro forum. I spent time going through the site, trying to find the right place to post on a regular basis. I'd like to do it here. I'm planning on doing calorie counting in fitday and am so intrigued by the "deficit" idea some of you ladies are posting. I can't wait to experiment with that too.

I am at my highest weight ever, and I was totally shocked to see that. Okay, not really shocked, I was just avoiding the truth. I want to be slim and fit and comfortable in my body. My hips ache, it's hard to put on shoes (my big old belly is in the way.)

And what is it with this belly. I look so pregnant. My weight is all over, no doubt, but I look like a man with a beer belly....lol....more like a 43 year old woman with a wine gut. Oh, the wine is gone, out of my diet btw.

I haven't exercised this past month, I've been sick, sick, sick...one cold after the other. And it's all related to not taking good care of myself. I'm actually off to the doctor in about 5 minutes.

I need to get back to the gym, I want to get back into yoga, and I need to bellydance more.

I plan on joining the daily thread, post my food, cals, and all the rest.

I can't wait!!!

Smile Welcome Back!

Welcome! I am new to this site, too. I'm trying to find a good spot to hunker down and post daily. I'm doing WW, so I posted on that thread today. Your goals sound great and I can relate to how you feel about your body. Stick with it girl!! See you around

Ooooh, a fellow bellydancer! I'm still pretty much a beginner, but I love it. Welcome to the site, and to this section!

Thanks for the nice welcome, ladies.

Turns out I have a sinus infection along with my bronchitis. Hopefully with meds I'll be able to breathe again soon and start up at the gym.

I checked out the book Superfoods Rx I keep seeing people read about. When I diet (LOL) I do it almost soley on healthy foods. I'm one of those who can't let anything "bad" cross my lips or I go ballistic and eat everything and anything in sight, and then I'm totally off plan. Obviously I will have to find how to keep that from happening, because as we all know, life does happen, and food is part of life, sometimes even junky food. Hopefully as it is more and more out of my system, control will come back.

I realized that I will have to start shopping more at my local Wild Oats store as my local grocery is a crappy one. It's good in some ways, but it has no healthy food section.

Oh, and yesterday when I told my SO that I plan on dieting and that I was at my highest weight, he said we can work on it together as he had also gained some weight, so it looks like it will become a bit of a family affair...it's nice to have support at home.

Alright, when you go off plan for a meal, day or even a week, just get right back into it. That is probably the biggest key to this whole thing!

Hi and welcome. I'm 43 as well. As far as I'm concerned, nothing works as well as good old fashioned calorie counting. No gimmicks, nothing. You watch your calories and make them good ones and there's no way you can not lose weight. Throw in some exercise and it's practically a sure thing. A real no brainer. Sorry you haven't been feeling so well. Hope everything clears up soon. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Justme, glad you are here. I've only been here a week (tomorrow) though registered since 2000...

Our goals are about the same so it will be fun to see us get down there together.

I am SOOO going to loose all this weight...I put on a ton when I quit smoking (3 yrs this june) I know, I know excuses...But I have gained steadily after I quit and If I can quit smoking I CAN DO THIS TOO!!! Anyways, I have no clothes that fit at this weight...LOL (ok so a couple pairs of jeans) nothing nice to go with all my pretty pretty shoes!!

I'm also a rejoined newbie. I'm a little older than you girls (54), but I have a very similar weight loss goal.

I've been dieting for years. I lost 50 pounds with WW and felt great. I even became a lifetime member. I started gaining the weight back and quit going because I hated spending the money. Now I'm sitting here at the weight I was when I first joined WW.

My husband has just been diganosed with high cholesteral so I also want to start cooking healthiest for him.

I hope to find a message thread that I can relate to so I can get more active on the forum.
