Shrinking Boobs and Bras
Hi everyone! I know this may seem like a personal question, but please do not be offended.
For those of you losing weight or have already reached goal, how many cup sizes did you go down and how much weight did you lose? I am trying to prepare myself for how much of my boobage I will be parting with (sniffles..I am going to miss you girls) |
Hi Mary! I hope you don't mind, but I moved your question over here to the Body Image And Issues After Weight Loss forum. It's a brand new forum we set up to deal with questions exactly like yours! :)
Boobage responds the weirdest of all to weight loss. Some people who desparately want to lose it, lose nothing. Others lose it all (that was me). I think a lot of it is genetics and some women are going to be big chested regardless of how much weight they lose. I talked about my boob experiences in this thread: After weight loss breast augmentation So my answer is that it's going to be very individual. :dizzy: |
Cool thanks!! I don't mind the move at all..now I have a new section of the forums to haunt hehe.
|
Oh boy, I hope you do haunt us! (or at least hang out with us  ) We get so many questions about the physical changes that hapen with weight loss (like boobs) as well as the mental issues (like 'why do I still think I'm fat when I look in the mirror?') that we wanted to bring them all together in one place. :)
|
Hi, I went from a 42DD to 38D, with a 59# loss so far, but I'm way older than you so you will probably be different. But i would guess the twins will be getting smaller. Good luck

Wow, I hope I won't need breast implants! I'd be happy with an A cup once I reach near goal. I wouldn't want to have the chest of a guy though.
One thing that has happened to me, which is a bit weird is I used to be a solid B cup, but now I'm a C cup and I'm even kind of busting out of that. I don't know how or why my boobs seem to be getting bigger? |
Well the girls definitely took a beating. I started out at a 287 lbs wearing a 44DD. 120 something pounds later and with still more to lose I am down to a 36D. Something tells me, they're not done yet. I wouldn't be surprised if I wound up being a 34C. Whatever.
|
~I am so excited to loose my boobs.....
I have been packing these boulders around for soooo long, I am sick of them!!!! I have pictures of fancy pretty girly bras dancing in my head!!! No more underwire, super duper big thick shoulder straps for me! Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I wouldn't have minded at all if mine had gotten smaller but nope! Not really. 50 lbs. down and no real change. Well, I know I've gotten smaller all around because I can now wear much smaller tops but the cup size hasn't really changed. I'd say it's gotten bigger but I really just think that I finally had a good fitting and bought a proper fitting bra.
|
I am just terrified of having nothing left but little shriveled up empty sacks on my chest :(
How can i wear cute girly bras and tops with no boobies? |
Can you wear them at your current weight?
|
Hehe actually I can find a few cute tops..Never anything sleeveless though. I am really digging the Kimono style tops right now.
|
I lost ~70 lbs, and went all the way from a 40DD to a 36D! Not much change relatively speaking. I think it depends - somewhat - on where you were before yougained weight. I've always had, um larger, ones. I didn't gain weight til after I turned 40, so really I never expected that the girls would go away, and they didn't. Frankly like blissful, I'd be thrilled if they did. I have horrible grooves in my shoulders. I've talked to a surgeon - after having a number of cysts drained, and a biopsy for "abnormal" tissue - but right now it's not a priority.
|
It really seems to depend on the person. I've barely lost cup size, but I've definitely lost inches in the band. I went from a 42J to a 34I. Ok, I'm a little abnormally sized to start with, but it after 87 pounds lost, I was hoping for a little more. Thank goodness for a little thing called plastic surgery :)
|
I was at my highest weight at 12 years old, and I wore a 38C. Now, 50 pounds lighter, I wear a 32B...there's pretty much nothing there, but I don't mind at all:D
|
I'm not sure how big I was before I gained weight because well I was like 6 at the time :) Actually the big weight gain didn't come until puberty which is when girls get their boobage. I'm just amazed at how I lost over 100 lbs and gained a cup size. I really didn't think that was possible. Who knows what the next 50-60 lbs has in store for me.
|
I went from a 42DD to a 34D. I had thought I was a 36C, but the bra fitter at Nordstrom's fitted me and it made a HUGE difference, my bras actually fit perfectly now.
In bra/clothing, my boobs look great, but they are really saggy and there is a lot of loose skin while naked (like oranges in a sock!). Poor boobs, 37 years + 73 lb weight loss = a lot of sag. I would love a lift, but I would be afraid of any loss of sensation. |
When I was younger{in high school} I wore a 36C to a D. After my kids I was wearing a 40D and now that I've lost weight I'm wearing a 36C again, but one of my girls is a little bigger. Boy I hate that!! Anyway I would love to be in a 34B or loose C by the time I'm finished. My husband has other ideas!;)
|
I went from a 36 B to a 34 A. :(
|
I have lost roughly 90 lbs. and went from a 42DD to a 36C. I don't mind it at all, I love it. Except at 47 yrs. old, they look great with my newly fitted bra's and pretty saggy without the bra.
I first became a 34C in 4th grade, so I never expected to lose them all. |
Thanks for asking this question! I've been so upset about my boob shrinkage. I've always considered myself an 'hourglass' but at the rate my chest is shrinking compared to the rest of me, I'm going to be a pear soon enough.
I am currently wearing a 36D. They are WAY too big. I'm going to go get fitted this weekend, and I wouldn't be at all shocked to see myself in a B cup. |
I love my boobs!! Um...that came out weirder than it sounded in my head...
So, anyway, they're pretty big (Aus 14E). My bras are looser now though, even bf has noticed! I don't want them to go anywhere, but I think they've got other ideas... :( Kylie |
I've lost a little off the top by losing 20 lbs, but I think my boobs actually look bigger because I've lost more in the tummy and other places. I'm currently a large 36D (my DD bras are very loose).
|
I have talked to quite a few women that have been losing weight various different ways and we all have the same thing in common...the "girls" are the first things to go.
As for me, well, i have lost 41lbs. total and I have noticed that the cups of my 48DD bras are looking less...filled, if you will. My line of thought when I discovered this: "I have all this booty, all these hips and thighs and you, my body decide to take my bewbs first?!?!? WHY?!?!" |
I started out at 42D and am currently in a 38D, but I need to get fitted as they are loose. I will probably end up at 34D or 36D as long as I'm on bc, but once off of that it'll be down to a C cup again (I was a 36C in HS.) Of course, I won't be going off of that until we're ready for babies, so that's not happening anytime soon!
Honestly, I'd be happy if they got a little bit smaller. It'd make finding button up shirts A LOT easier. I've resigned myself to the fact that I will have to buy bigger shirts and have them taken in at the waist. |
I'm 18, I lost 100 pounds a little too quickly, I'm left with a saggy belly and two 'rock in a sock' boobs. I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety so I can't apply to the NHS for help surgery wise.
Loosing the weight shouldn't kill your boobs - if you do it slowly. |
The one thing I liked about being overweight was I HAD boobs. At my heaviest, I was a 36C. It always seems like the first place I lose weight is in my boobs. Now I'm probably a 32A, but am still wearing my old 34B's.
I'm VERY lucky not to have excess skin or a sagging problem. |
Personally, I would love to lose a little off the top. I was just measured and they said I was a 40DD. Which, is not as bad as I feared, but not as small as I hoped. And to think all of these years I've been buying 42D. So I'm hoping that with the 36 lbs I'm trying to lose bit of it will come from the old girls.
|
I was a 44G when I started, and I was probably larger than that, but hadn't had a proper fitting in forever - was probably part of that huge percentage of women who are wearing a cup size that's too small. When I got my running bra, I realized what a good fitting bra could actually do for the girls so for a while, I was wearing the running bras all the time (it was winter, so a bit easier to get away with than now).
Now, 101 pounds later, I'm into 36DDs. I'll never be a small girl, but it's nice to be back in sizes that don't require special orders, or have zero pretty features. |
I went from a 40 DD to a 34 D.
And they do sag and I do have extra skin. You can't notice the extra skin unless I am wearing a sheer bra or certain lower cut bra styles. If I bend over in certain bras, my extra skin will start to come out of the cup. :( I do, however, love the fact that I can wear cute tops and smaller shirts without looking like a porn star.:D Originally Posted by : |

|
I've lost band size, but no measurable cup size, in fact I went up a cup. Yeah thanks for that! Like I want to wear a DDD? I started at a 44DD and now wear a 38DDD. I'm really hoping I lose more in the chest, I'd keep the 38, but want to lose a letter, or 2. However, back in my thinner days, as an adult, I was always a minimum of a DD, even at my lowest weight of 127lbs. I fully plan on a reduction and lift in 2-3 years, depending on weight loss time.
|
At my highest weight I was a 40B (which is ridiculously hard to find). I've lost about 60 pounds and am a 36B now. Haven't lost any cup size but they've always been very soft, saggy, and asymmetrical. Pretty sad considering I'm 21. I'm definitely considering getting a "fluff" when I've reached my goal.
|
Right now I'm at a 38DD. I was one of those 7th graders that went from a training bra to a 36C overnight.
Even when I was 125 I had those puppies... Having a child at 20 and gaining 75 pounds made them massive. I want to go back to my pre-baby size, or even better: smaller. I'm the maid of honor in January in my bud's wedding and my boobs will not be able to stay nicely tucked in the strapless gown she's picked out.... *sigh* |
I discovered post-weight loss that I have breast hypoplasia. Bascially my breasts didn't develop properly as a teen. For me after losing weight what struck me was how tiny my boobs were, how tubular they were and how far apart they were. I never really thought it was a cause for concern since we're all different.
Actually in daily life it hasn't been a big deal and again never thought it was a cause for concern, until after my baby was born. It meant my milk supply was very low. Luckily I know now for next time there are ways I can maximize my supply and hopefully can exclusively breastfeed. As for breast size I am usually (in good shape) a 34-36AA, but due to being widely spaced have to go for a regular A.... Cheers! Ali |
My poor boobs
As of today, I have lost 75# since December (340 to 265), when I was diagnosed with Diabetes 2. I'm happy about my loss -- my BG is getting under control, I have tons more energy -- but rather distraught at the havoc this is playing with my breasts. I have lost most of the weight from the upper third of my body and my once-abundant breasts are beginning to look like deflated little balloons. Another 75# and they'll be flat as pancakes.
In fact, everything on my body is sagging and dropping, and it bums me out majorly. Coupled with the insulin resistance, which is causing me to retain visceral fat, I look kind of deformed. I popped into a plastic surgeon this afternoon just to get some info about a breast lift in the future. He told me he wouldn't even consider me as a candidate until I'd reached 160#. In fact, I haven't weighed that little since I was in 8th grade; my "realistic" goal had more like 175#. Frankly, getting under 200# would be a major accomplishment for me. Anyway, I felt like I had been wasting his time, and now I feel like bawling. |

It totally depends on the person. I've always had big knockers - whether I weighed 175 or 105. They're 36D right now, but they were 36C even when I was super skinny.
Mary, have you always had big boobs? If so... I doubt they will shrink just weight weight loss. :) |
When I was 21 I used to weigh 216. My bra size was 36 DDD or a 36 DD, depending on where I bra shopped. After diet and exercise I had managed to get down to 130lbs and my bra size dropped down only to a 36D. Which was nice, because I find that sometimes any bigger than a D can be difficult to find those cute tops you speak of. I'm currently trying to get back down to that 130 right now. I'm at 151 and my bra size is a 36DD, so I'm assuming I may go down to about the same size. The one thing about smaller boobs though, is that it's easier to find bikini tops! As a DD I can tell you, bikini tops that I like are hard to find. Although you live in the states and i've found american sizes tend to cater moreso to women of all ages. Canadian sizes fit smaller and I guess we don't have as many big boobed women. Good luck though! Theres pluses and negatives to no matter what boob size you have. I do recommend making sure you work on exercising your core if you find that your boobs aren't getting much smaller. When you lose weight and your boobs are still rather large your back sometimes can take a major beating. Keeping your stomach tight and toned can help with these problems.
