Hee Hee I yelled at Oz via PM :rollpin:....Jillian's girls are the next best thing to Jillian herself...we should all get Bully TShirts! Well - maybe that will be my prize when I actually make it through one of her workouts without missing anything or cutting anything short. :strong:
KristenJ - it sounds like you are already moving, good for you! It's finally raining here - I guess I'll hit the gym for my cardio today. :cb: |
raaaain
hahaha Chick... I was just about to type "hey its raining here too!" when I saw that you live in Sacramento, too.
Small world! |
Too funny - what part of town is yer hood?
|
Crikey!!
This is a tough crowd, you eat one itzy bitzy 2L bucket of icecream and you take cover from all the swinging rolling pins.
And yes our downward spirals spin in the opposite direction of yours.. smarty. :) You know I was in Africa a year ago and crossed in the equator in Uganda and they had a little thing set up where you could watch water drain down a funel. A metre on one side of the equator and it drained one way, a metre on the other side and it drained the other way. When it was right on the equator it went straight down without spiralling at all. Very cool little experiment. Have a successfully deflected the attention away from me?? :p |
c'mon oz! get up off of that thing and work with us! :ebike:
don't make this be excuse to continue bad eating and exercise habits and just WORK IT! there is always something waiting in the wings to sabotage your goals, you just have to work around them and get on track. if i can get up and move and breath - then you and anyone else can do it too. i am the most unmotivated person, but to think of a life after weight loss is a wonderful thing and something i want to be. i keep thinking of jillian's comment on TBL the other night "your dreams are your dreams because they are your destiny". BTW - are you as pissed as me that ten advertised last night TBL as the Grand Finale and then just . . . stopped! looks like the REAL final is on next Friday from looking at the ten site. we are here for you - let's do this and be the hottest girls on our respective coasts. |
Bugger
Daisy you were suppose to fall for my fabulous deflection. :D
Anyway it was totally dumb of them to advertise that the show was going to be the finally. I knew it wasn't going to be because of how many episodes there were left though. The really crap thing is that the finally will show in the US 3 or 4 days before it shows here, that means if we want to experience the suspense we have to implement media blackout for that period of time. That's near impossible. Alright I'll put in some effort today and try and finish Jillian's book. Reading reading, I hate it. But my motivation is to get rid of that darn book worm, I think I hate him more. ;) |
sacratomato
My hood is just outside the William Land Park area. Or near the zoo may be a better way to put it. Although not IN the zoo, just for clarification. :)
I was actually looking forward to exercising today but I really feel like I'm coming down with something. Two family members brought their bugs with them yesterday so I'm sure they've passed something on. Arrrr. |
We'll have to get together for walking or something when it stops raining...I'm pretty close - Tahoe Park over by the Med Center. Thrilling to everyone else - I'm sure!
Oz - I won't know it's you without the worm... |
Oz....You may be the "teflon queen" but I still have my rolling pin in my little hot hands!!!:rollpin: Don't make me track you down GF!!! lol.....
I'm really bummed about not hitting the gym today. Turns out they are open, but without daycare services. My days will be jumbled, but the same number of workouts will be done. I will just go in tommorow (instead of my rest day) and complete my week 4. hmmpff....not impressed. On Monday, I have the lucky fortune of having a cracked tooth capped!!! :carrot: I'M SO EXCITED!!!....NOT!!! Dh has been away and can I say?....MY BOYS ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! :dizzy: My oldest (12yo) is grounded and after about 1.5 week of grounding.....has taken to terrorizing his brother. Nice when you consider I have a cold, a cough and a headache the size of mountain!!! arggg....help me Calgon!!!....take me away...... |
its the small things
I tried Jillian's "front" workout video, this time MUCH modified toward my abilities. I was able to do about 15 mins this time before completely collapsing. I think the entire video is a 20 minute workout, so I'm getting there. I know in her book she recommends an hour a day but I know I'd burn out within a week if I tried that. We actually have an exercise room and I can't wait until its finished being painted. We have an elliptical/precor thing, a treadmill, a weight bench with a lat pull down bar, exercise mats, and a bunch of dumbells. Not to mention the stereo system I put out there. You would think after all that money spent my bf and I would be out there a bit more often! *sigh* I've just been doing the videos inside the house until it's finished.
Chick - we're in "hollywood park" which isn't terribly far, but on the opposite side of land park from you I think. Land park is awesome for walking, maybe we can figure out a cool schedule and meet up for walking. Lord knows its way too dark after work to do that alone, now. |
I walk after dark all the time - but I have the benefit of an extremely loyal 85 lb Doberman....to look at him you would never know he is a sweetie. Maybe a weekend is easier...I'll PM you when I have a better idea what next weekend is looking like. :D
Angel eyes....sorry about the tooth!! And the munchkins of terror...and the cold...dang, girl - hope next week goes better!! |
YeeHaa
You can go and put your rolling pins away because I have finished the book. Yippeee. Also got rid of the slimy green worm as you can see so now you have to look at my chubby cheeks until I can get some skinnier ones.
May start the implementation tomorrow, might as well, it's Monday, good day to start. What on earth am I going to have for breakfast... crikey, I'd better go and think about that. Oh you'd better not put the rolling pins in in storage, just keep them where you know they are, we may be needing them. |
Nice to put your lovely face to the poster!!! Much better than a green worm I say!!! and just in case......I have a whole armfull of rolling pins standing ready.......
|
I must be serious I've even got myself a little ticker thing.
No rolling pins required yet today, I gotta say though this counting calories and carbs etc is very tiring. :?: |
Oz - yer a hottie!!
I guess it was time for the worm to go...I have a couple rolling pins ready to wave at a moments notice. Have you got a fitday account? It really helps with the calorie counting and the percentages of carbs/protein/fat...the wonders of pie charts. What kind of oxidizer are you? I'm a balanced oxidizer (thank goodness - 'cause the other ways look like a lot more work)...breakfast lately has been either yougurt & kashi bar, oatmeal with chopped apple tossed in, or cottage cheese with fruit. I'm pretty lazy about breakfast - it has to be something fast...but the main thing I've had to change is to get more protein in. Now- if I can just get my calorie counts down below maintenance levels...
Smartbutt - 15 minutes of Jillian video is pretty durned good! You go, girl!! |
Hey Oz - I totally get it with the counting calories thing. For some reason it stresses me out. I get over-obsessed with sticking to a certain number, or I just get bored with it. It has undone me a few times in my attempts to lose weight. I signed up a few weeks ago with dietpower and I really love it. It puts the foods you eat often at the top and it only takes me 5 minutes a day, tops, to enter everything. It also breaks things down and gives you a "grade" on how nutritous your food is. So, since you just finished the book, are you just now starting the exercise? I selfishly hope so, because I am. ;) It would be nice to not be the only girl in week one while everyone else is on week 5. :)
|
Boy oh boy
Well Chickie I am a balanced oxidiser too and also even though I've only done day one the hardest part was getting enough protein. I always knew protein was important and have always purposely made sure their was protein in my meals. I have until yesterday never sat down and crunched the numbers properly and surprise surprise I wasn't getting enough protein. No wonder I would get hungry... doh!
So that makes me think that all those low carb diets that are out there really aren't low carb diets after all they're just make sure you eat enough protein diets. I love learning things, I love it! Thanks Chickie and HappyDaisy for those links, I'm checking them both out and they've been very helpful. And Happy Daisy it's me and you kid! Week One exercise here we come! Bugger, so many good smilie opportunities and my smilies aren't working. Maybe I'll come back later and edit them in. :) |
Oz - in case you haven't already seen the sticky announcement by Suzanne 3FC - do a hard refresh of your browser (Ctrl + F5) and that should fix your smilie issue :)
|
Thanks MrsJim
:carrot:    :spin:  :strong: :joker: :bravo: :cb: :cp: :hat:  :flow1: :flow2: :flame: :dancer: :ebike: :woo: :twirly:
WOOHOO!! |
The attack of the smilie monster...
|
I knew it!
I knew that jerk Nick wouldn't show, I just knew it!
That last B.L. was so damn inspiring. I can't believe how good everyone (with the exception of a certain female lawyer) looked! Now I'm going to be lost, what show am I going to watch??? :( |
What a show!!! :carrot: DH and I started crying as soon as the eliminated people came out at the beginning.... We just kept exclaiming how great everyone looks...no wonder Nick didn't show up...I felt kinda bad for the chick who maintaned her loss from the ranch. In the real world losing 30 lbs is pretty impressive...but next to Pete? Woo hoo Pete!!!!!
I wanna know who decided that KFC should have ads for gloopy gravy covered chicken fried steak....so beyond disgusting looking. :p The Denny's ad of bacon and hash browns was nearly as ridiculous.....brings home Suzy's problem at the restaurant with her friends. It ain't so easy off the ranch... |
Oh my...
I don't think there's a specific forum for what I noticed in Jillian's DVD the other night, so I thought, why not post it in Oz's "other thread"? :)
So there I was, proudly showing one of Jillian's DVD workouts to my BF, showing him how difficult the workouts are. I was pointing out the different people, and saying "That girl over there is doing the easy version, but most of the time she's doing the same thing that the other people are...doing..." and at that moment I suddenly noticed that the blonde man in the video was quite visibly...aroused. Right in the middle of all the exerising! I wasn't sure if it was just a "wardrobe malfunction" so I kept looking. My BF just kept saying "aw man, that's disgusting! turn this off!" hehehehe I wonder how many other people who bought the video have/will notice this? Poor guy! *giggle* |
Oh my!!
Well Smartbutt this is the perfect thread for this kind of stuff.
What a find, not necessarily a good find though. Should I get the DVD anyway? Can you still focus on the workout?? :) Oh BTW I've been pretty sucky in all areas this week. Why do I continually fail?? Rhetorical question. Oh well let's see what today brings me. |
OMG....I would die laughing and not be able to work out... :lol3: Which DVD is it?
|
Just popping in to say hi! I'm new here. Things are getting nasty on a certain other board.:gossip:
Yay, postitivity!!! :cheer: |
Well hello hello
Mel's here, :carrot: yay it's nice to see you.
Things here move a lot slower than at BL, but there's always someone around if you need them. :) |
Hello everyone,
Dare I jump into a group and anounce once again that I am going on a diet? LOL. Wish me luck ladies ;) I have a bit of a grump. I am a fast oxidizer but, I hate low carb! I also have IBS and cant do a bunch of veggies. I also have been diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance/pre diabetic. So, these conditions with the exception of the IBS indicate I should most likely do low carb, and Jillian's book agrees. What a dilemma. Do any of you know what they really do on BL to get the numbers they do? I really want to know. Also, calories, what about the amount of calories? I am around 300lbs. BabySteps |

Hi everyone! I didn't watch BL at the beginning and I keep hearing about this Nick character who didn't show up for the final episode. What happened to him? He seems to be unpopular judging from the boards. Just wondering! Thanks.
|
To answer the question on veggies. With IBS (irritable Bowel Syndrome) veggies cause problems, some more than others. With IBS insoluble fiber can cause diarrhea and IBS folks tend to have more problems with painful gas, we all know veggies are not gas friendly. I also cannot have a lot of high fiber foods, high fat, fructose coffee or carbonation. I just hate this disorder, I hate the word bowel! But, I also need desperately to get this weight off.

Can we choose to not see the annoying veggies dance? If so please tell me how to turn them off. Its very distracting to me.
BabySteps |
Hey I LIVE For the dancing veggies/fruit! We tend to be a very smilie-oriented thread, so be prepared!
Have you ever consulted a professional dietician to create a diet that would include IBS-friendly veggies and other foods? I don't know much about IBS either, so I can't help there. I know that Jillian says never to go under 1200 calories, but at the same time you may not need to go that low at all. If you run through your own personal calculations for her BMR and AMR, then figure out how to get a 3500 calorie deficit per week, that's a start. My thought would be, if you truly can't stand (and your body can't stand) a very-low-carb diet, perhaps a balanced diet would be the answer - supplemented with tons of good exercise. But again, I'm not a doctor. I don't even play one on tv. |

Oh, and the bananna... :)

Hi! I'm new to the site and just joined today. However, I have been reading some of the threads for awhile. I heard about Jillian's thread from the biggest loser message boards on nbc.com.
This seems like a very positive thread, which is just what I need. Here is my story...:o I gained 60 pounds when I got pregnant with my daughter in 1997. Never lost any of the weight. Once I had my son in 2002 I instantly lost the weight I gained with him, but am still packing around the pounds from my first. I've tried tae-bo, slim-fast, weight watchers, atkins, discovery challenge, ediets, south beach, you name it, I've tried it. :dizzy: I am terrible at staying motivated. If I don't lose a ton of weight right from the beginning I want to give up. My husband and I started eating healthier about a year ago. He began walking on the treadmill and has lost 40 pounds. I've stayed the same and feel like crap. He doesn't need motivation but I do!! Hopefully I'll find some here. I hope you all don't mind if I join your thread.:^: How do we get the little counters to appear at the bottom of our message? |
How about the barfing one? :barf: Just messing with ya  I have a strange sense of humor...if you think I use a lot of dancing smilies- wait 'till Oz posts...:lol3:
Welcome Dawn - I pm'ed you a link to the tracker instructions I hope Jillian can whip you into shape - she has been quite helpful to me. It's great that you are eating healthier, what do you think is the biggest obstacle to your exercise routine? Is it just the getting started? If so, maybe just start with something simple like walking a 1/2 an hour a day. For me the hardest part is getting going, once I'm moving I'm happy. Now it's habit and I feel funny when I take a day off. I was never into exercise before - I surprised myself! Sorry BabySteps I can't stand it - I need to use a dancing banana.. :cb: |

Thanks for the help on the weight tracker. It was really easy once I found out how to do it.
The hardest part for me in this weight loss thing is the exercise. I find it hard to find time, but I also am not motivated to stay going. I don't know why, but I can't get myself to going. I like it once I am doing it, but I am always so tired that I don't want to start.:o I thought if I had someone to answer to then I would be more likely to actually start exercising. I don't want to get embarassed by not losing any weigtht.:( I also can't seem to make the two work right together. I eat healthy and work out some, but don't lose a single pound!! I just don't know what to do. I can't keep it going long enough to see some results. I need help!!:?: |
