Blue Team Week 7 WOSC Chat

G'morning Ladies!! I want to say congrats to our biggest loser, Gracie8789 ... retiredone :yay:, Mercy :yay:, and ars :yay: You ladies did AWESOME!!
We all AWESOME! Way to go ladies.. and that is with just 32 of us remaining... so use props to us all! Lets keep it going strong through this week!

I want to say that my computer is completely toast, it will no longer even turn on... I have tried everything under the sun, as well as a reinstall and nothing, so it is definately a hardware problem which means it will be taking a trip soon to be fixed.. hopefully.. aghhhh I am using a friends laptop right now who was kind enough to lend it to me while she was away for the weekend.. I am unsure how often I will be able to get online anywhere this week.. so if you do not see me.. that is why... I will miss you girls!

Idealmuse - have fun swimming

weebleswobble, Mercy03, dream710

and a big good morning to the rest of the blue team another new week ahead of us and another chance to beat the red team. WTG everyone.

Nothing new on this end just wanted to check in and say hi. Not sure what I have planned for today.

shoupfamily 02-15-2010 01:47 PM

babygrant: way to go!! im sure you are very pleased with your efforts, as you should be!

bigmid: my period came 5 days late. i was worried!! that'll teach me to not be careful. don't get me wrong, i love my babies and want another eventually, but my husband is in school and i'd like to be healthier. maybe it was silly to worry anyway, because in the past i can't get pregnant over 160 as i have to much fat/estrogen to ovulate. anyway.... talk about incentive!!! being able to get pregnant when hubby is done with school in december!!! yay! anyway, thanks for asking.

idealmuse: you've had an amazing weight loss. in your picture you look happy, as well as healthy. that's wonderful.

thinnerbyjuly 02-15-2010 02:41 PM

Just quickly marking my place!

Doragone 02-15-2010 04:07 PM

Hi Chickies! Congrats to all the big b-losers too! And Babygrant's in Onederland, woo-hoo. I think my body went into hibernation mode, wondering when I was going to eat "normal" again, so it hung onto the weight it had this week, so no loss (but no gain either) for me. Even with just 32 of us, there's a lot of motivation to go around and I really enjoy reading what you ladies are doing, though I'm not physically able to get started yet (still hard to breathe), but I am encouraged by all of you. Hang in there and thanks for all your good ideas.

Dora

Hello Blue Team!!! I'm up and about. My back feels so good now. I'll be on the road again, tomorrow.

Congratulations to our Biggest Loser, Gracie789 and to my fellow runners-up Mercy and ars. Mercy, you're nipping at my heels you're so close to me.

Angela, my condolences on your computer. Hope you can get it fixed without needing a bank loan.

Dayoneagain
, you sound pumped. Keep up that great attitude, my lady.

Babygrant, congratulations on leaving Twoney Town and entering the great land of Onder.

Thank you Dream. I'm hoping to reach goal this week, but who can tell? Then I'm going to go down another 5 pounds. That'll give me a bit of wiggle room on holidays.

Idealmuse, you look beautiful in your avatar. So pretty.

Hi Dora, don't do too much until you are well. You want to make sure your lungs and bronchial tubes are up to work out before you get too strenuous with the exercise.

A big wave  to Michelle, Shoupfamily, Bigmid and Weebleswobble. Hope you all have a good week.

I remember at the last challenge that we were neck and neck, so I have some catching up to do:dizzy:, but I know that if you can do it, so can I.

You are my INSPIRATION.

Congrats on another winning week everyone! I am so glad to be a part of blue team. Everyone is so motivated!

Here is to another losing week! :hat:

Has anyone ever used a private (in gym) personal trainer? I've been thinking of saving up to purchase some sessions once I get rid of some more weight. I am terrible with strength training, that is mainly what I would go for! If you have any experiences you can share, I would appreciate it!

Aw, thanks. Figured it was time to update one where I wasn't covering half my face. The new Avi is from our Valentines dinner last night. :)

weebleswobble 02-15-2010 08:22 PM

Ars, I am going to wait until this semester is over with school, I have gone from 260, and I am hoping to be close to 165 by then (it will be close to Mother's Day). I am going to get a membership at the local gym and then kick my butt from Mother's day 'til Labor Day and see what kind of bod there is under what little flab is left, and what size pants I can get into...I never thought I'd get into a 14, and now my 14s are loose. I'm thinking maybe I can steal my sister's size 6's by the end of the summer!

Nella 02-15-2010 09:41 PM

Hello ladies!!! I'm so sorry I've been gone so long!! Things have been nuts around here between kid stuff and DH's recovery. He's doing well and almost back to normal, so that's happy news!

On not so happy news, I ate like a pig for the last week. Cookies, snickers, pasta alfredo and cheese bisquits, and whatever else I could shove in my mouth. It was sick. I don't even know what possessed me to do it. I can only come up with stress. But, what's done is done and we move on.

I was a good girl and went to the gym tonight, just a quick 30 minutes on the elliptical, but it's been almost 2 weeks since I stepped foot in the gym. I fully intended to work out at the hotel while we were gone, but I didn't make it. I would change and then find some excuse to not go. Again, so logical reason why.

So back on the bandwagon for me.

Hope everyone else is doing great!

Babygrant - WAHOO on Onederland!!!! So awesome!!!!

Mercy03 02-15-2010 09:49 PM

Welcome back Chica!:hug::hug:

thinnerbyjuly 02-16-2010 08:51 AM

I swear I am the biggest dork sometimes. I am so darn relieved not to have to weigh. I'm really glad I could stay as unofficial :) We all had a nasty bug over the weekend. Still a bit off but much better. I pretty much ate nothing but peanut butter on lc bread all weekend . Gosh this winter I caught every bug I swear after going years without catching A THING. I'm getting back on oregano oil!

Yesterday was on plan and I got a walk and some shoveling in for exercise.

BIG CONGRATS TO OUR WEEKLY WINNERS!!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!! Gracie8789 ... retiredone , Mercy , and ars

BABYGRANT~ big hooray on onerland!!!!!!!!!!!

ANGELA~ sorry to hear the computer bit the dust! Ugh

DAYONE congrats on the motivation!

DORA hope you feel better soon hug!

ISABELLA so glad your back is feeling better!

IDEALMUSE your stats are amazing!!!!!

WEEBLES awsome on the lose 14's!!!

NELLA glad to see you back! Stress will do that. It is all in the past now so onward and forward :)

Howdy to anyone I may have forgotten!!!

Soon2BFitChick 02-16-2010 10:13 AM

Way to go, Gracie8789!!! ... And woohooo, :woohoo: Great job, retiredone , Mercy , and ars!!! :cb: :broc: :carrot:

Did you all see both teams lost exactly the same weight this week! Cool! Wonderful job from both teams but neat that we won!!! :cheer3:

Yay Babygrant! I'm right in there with you! Isn't great to finally get there? We HAVE TO stay there! I always get nervous and freaked out but I'm determined to plow thru this time and get into the 180s, then to 177. Even if 177 is my lifetime goal, I'm happy then!! I am starting to try for 30 mins of some kind of movement (besides all that I do anyway every day, lol) each day.

Awww, we'll miss you Angela! Write as soon as you can!! We need our fearless leader!! :soap:

Hiya to Dora, Ideal, Bigmid, Dayone, Isabella, ars, weebles, Nella, thinner, and all of you glorious Bluezers!!!!

I'm up a little, but think its water because of salt, been having too much. But sometimes I crave more than I need! Dang it! :nono:

I hope to show at least a .5 lb loss this coming weigh in. I hafta keep losing something every week!!! :yikes:

Well, I feel bloated and hope it goes away soon. :sumo:

Gotta get work done, love y'all!! ;)

Hugs, Selina

Nella 02-16-2010 12:00 PM

Morning ladies!

Mercy - back atcha chica!

So, the salt monster must be on his way out because I was down 2.2 pounds from yesterday. Whew! I made a very delish and very health dinner last night of Mahi Mahi and veggies. I never really loved fish, but the whole 4 oz piece was only 95 calories! That's like a calorie bargain! I've still got some hunger issues going on. I apparently stuffed myself good and stretched my stomach out. I'm just so glad to be home and back into the swing of things. I plan on going to the gym again tonight. I hate that DH can't go with me for another 2 or 3 weeks :( He's on restricted exercise and lifting from his surgery.

So like Thinner said, It's onward and forward! Make it a great day everyone!!!!

Bigmid 02-16-2010 04:27 PM

Hi Ladies how is the blue team this sunny day (at least here it is sunny) I have had a wonderful 4 days off from work and now I have to get myself in the midset of going back tomorrow. I think I need some actual vacation time but until the temp warms up I don't see the point. Well I have been testing out a pedometer today they don't work that well on me for some reason. Sometimes it registers more and sometimes less so I hope on average it works out. I am at 8200 steps so far and I actually counted all of them out by 100 at a time:dizzy: I have burned over 200 calories from this too so that's good. I want to start wearing it to work to see how many steps I take in a day and how many more I need to do each day.

shoupfamily - I happy that you got your period and can now wait til hubby is done school before trying again. It is nicer to be prepared so glad it worked out that way for you both.

doragone - I hope your breathing comes back to normal soon it is so hard to do anything when not feeling 100% I am glad that you find inspiriation here as I do the same.

retiredone - so glad that you back is feeling good now, happy walking

Mercy03 - hello back at ya hope your having a great day

ars - a personal trainer can be a very good thing especially if you have not done much on strength training before. If you watch some people at the gym there form is so off that they can do serious damage to themselves. Also if you can't keep proper form than the weight is to heavy. They will point all this out and get you started properly. Good luck

weebleswobble - Wow you have come so far and to be that close to your goal. It's only a couple months off you must feel so good right now.

Nella - welcome back and congratulations on going to the gym already. That does take motivation. That's awesome being down 2.2 already

thinnerbyjuly - I am glad that you feel so good about not having to weigh in anymore. I hope you feel better soon. I love PB

Soon2BeFitChick - you are doing great you will keep going down and stay down. I here you on needing to see a loss every week. Here is to us both showing a loss next weigh in.

Nixmom - Where are you???? I hope everything is okay
Echo - just want to say hello haven't seen you on in a couple days either. Hope all is well.
Angela - is the computer at the doctors yet

A big hello to anyone that I may have missed.

Mercy03 02-16-2010 05:27 PM

Hiya Bluesers:D Hope everyone is doing well. I weighed in at my club last night, I "turtled" from last week as I weighed 139 last Monday night.Proud of myself for holding my weight all week, hence my 2 pound weight loss here. It's been hard to be motivated this week as the weather SUCKS!!! It's been so cold here in Orlando this winter(no comments from the Canucks please:D) that it has been hard to get the motivation to go outside and workout, which leaves the stationary bike and treadmill for me.Kinda boring sometimes.......but I still feel great that I have broken the barrier that is 140.

Enough about myself! I want to say to Thinnerbyjuly that I am glad that you decided to stick with us, whatever it takes to stay motivated is the right way.

@ Nella :hug:I know you have what it takes to get back on track.

@ Bigmid :hug: I'm glad to see that you are posting again, you were missed.

@ Selena Hope everything is okay.

@ Idealmuse What a beautiful picture. Congrats on your weight loss:carrot:

@ Echo........ Here today gone tomorrow..... I miss your posts Chica!

@ Everyone, congrats for sticking around for the 6th week and making this such an inspiring challenge this time.

shoupfamily 02-16-2010 11:20 PM

weebleswobble: I'm so envious of you being able to wear a size 14!!! I've been in 18's for tooooooo long now. And you're still shrinking!!

nella: Been there done that plenty of time. Even recently. But you know what, if you get back up you'll find not much damage done. It's only when you don't get back up that things go to crap. We're human. I'm proud of you for working out and getting back on that horse!!

thinnerbyjuly: sorry your household has been sick, but glad to hear that you are getting over it! (we've had something going around here)

Well... i try to work out twice a week. but im skipping the first one this week because we've all been so kick. don't think teh childcare place at the gym would be impressed if i brought kids with fevers/ear infections.......etc... haha im planning to go down to my sisters in oregon (just from wa) beginning of april to buy some new clothes. i have 3 pairs of pants to my name!! (of course i have a lot of size 8-12's in my closet that i dream of wearing again) anyway, so we're going to buy me some clothes. i hope it's not horrible. i hate shopping and i hate wearing clothes for the most part. of course, being naked would be a worse alternative. but, since i last saw my sis ive lost about 15 pounds and by the time i go it will probably be 20. so i think i should give myself credit for that and try to enjoy clothes shopping. sometimes it's discouraging because i have soooo much to lose. but i take it one week at a time and one pound at a time. anyway... today has been a good day as far as eating well. i hope i don't sound too whiney. maybe the nyquil is kicking in. onward and upward ladies!!

dayoneagain 02-17-2010 05:10 AM

Hey everyone!!

I've woken up with positivity this morning AND the scale is showing a downward trend for the first time in what seems forever. Just got back from a quick workout of 3km on the treadmill. I cannot wait to get out of the 190s!!!!!

Quick question - I know you're meant to have breakfast first thing in the morning to get your metabolism going, but how does this work around a morning workout? I might be being silly, but if I'm going to get up at 8am and be in the gym by 8:30am then should I eat something before I go, or am I alright eating as soon as I get back instead? I don't want to slow down my metabolism if it can be easily avoided, but I'm back in my flat within 10 mins of my workout.

:broc:

Soon2BFitChick 02-17-2010 09:17 AM

Dayone, me toooo!!! Let's work hard to get into the 180s together! And babygrant too! And all of us who are in the 190s. We need to band together and fight the 190s! I want the 180s so bad because I don't wanna see the 200s EVER again, even in TOM. :tantrum:

I have to take Emily to doc today but when I get home Imma try hard to get on my treadmill. I want to push myself past where I always have. I want to imagine Jillian in my ear, screaming at me that I CAN go 2 more minutes!! :drill:

I hate we lost more ppl this wk. :( I know how hard it is though and I've had to stop in the middle of a challenge before. Sometimes life gets in the way. I hope they all keep losing anyway tho. The challenge is just a nice addition to it all. I love coming here and knowing all you guys are doing the same as me, trying to find time to exercise and watching ur food.

I haven't read yet so can't do personals. Gotta run. But just wanted to remind you all that strawberries should be ready around March at the pick ur own farms! Yay! :yay: My friend and I are taking our kids and also again in May for blackberries. I LOVE them. Cannot wait. Just take lots of containers so you don't squish the bottom berries from the weight of the others. You can freeze what you don't eat and use them for desserts, baking, etc. There are sites online to find one near you. Berries are gooooood for you!! :hun:

Ok bye bye!!

Hugs, Selina

Nella 02-17-2010 09:26 AM

Dayone - For me personally, I can't eat before working out. I get nauseous. So I prefer to work out then come home and eat something.

Mercy - Wahoo! That must feel great! :carrot: I know what you mean about the weather. I'm not used to it being so cold here either, so it's been hard to be motivated. I can't wait until spring starts and I can walk outside again! It's so pretty here when everything starts to bloom.

RetiredOne - Wow! So close to goal! i hope you make it this week!!!

Shoup - I hope you are all better soon! Clothes shopping should be fun! Enjoy it!

Bigmid - The pedometer is a great idea. I'm competitive, so that would make me move until it said 10000!

Selina - Sorry about the bloat. I hope it goes away soon!\

Well, 2 days back into recording my food. I'm still having hungry issues, and it's really annoying. I thought I was doing good, I made a special dinner for DH last night, but when I entered it in I got a shock. DH has Celiac's Disease, so he can't have gluten (wheat, barley & rye) so I have this great substitute flour that I use all the time. Well, I made biscuits with it last night, and I put the recipe into spark people later - 320 cals per biscuit!!! And I had 2!!! That's almost 3 times the cals in a flour biscuit each! I felt so crappy. I never thought the special flour had that many more calories, but it has a lot of almond meal and things like that to make it more like wheat flour. Well, lesson learned. I was over about 200 cals for the day. So today is a new day, and I will read labels better from here on out!

On other TMI news, lol, I've been taking prenatal vitamins for about 3 weeks, and they are stopping me up! Stupid iron! So I'm going to have to find something to combat that.

Well, I better get to work, have a great day ladies!!!

babygrant 02-17-2010 10:42 AM

I'll be back later with personals. Been busy busy. I picked up a few shifts at work to try to get the savings account bumped back up. I love my job so it's easy to go....but it's tough coming home to two small kids. I can't sit down to relax because they've missed me allllllllllllllll day. hehe.

I was doing daily weigh in's but I'm going to stop. What I've found is that I don't want to exercise. I figure since I'm losing weight from my eatng alone, there's no point in walking/lifting weights etc. I don't want to be "skinny fat" so I'm going to do the weekly weigh in's ONLY, no peeking at all in between, in hopes that I'll keep my mind guessing and I'll pick up the exercise just to be sure I lose something!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!! Cold and rainy here, but that's ok! Because of the rain, all of my beeeeautiful tulips and crocuses will come up when it warms up! I can't wait!

weebleswobble 02-17-2010 12:03 PM

shoup, I wonder if you're wearing OLD 18s. I bet if you go try on NEW vanity size 14s they'll fit.

dayone, I don't know, I can't work out or eat first thing in the morning, blech!

Soon2B, count me in on the 180 wagon. :)

Nella, those vitamins made me barf. :)

babygrant, I get that daily-weigh-in benefit too. I haven't gotten excited about exercising all the time, though.

Wow, I just did personals.

I had a great thing happen yesterday. I had a meeting with a committee that makes sure that I'm on track with what I'm supposed to be doing in school (ultimately, they can say, "don't let her go through") and I pre-emptively told them about a bad thing that happened, and even though I said, "now this person is going to tell you that X happened, and it's true, but there's more..." They totally nurtured me and protected me and I felt so affirmed. It was an excellent experience. Of course, the first thing that happened, was I walked in, and they said, "what happened to you?" and I told them that I'd lost 65 pounds, and my philosophy behind it (I'm studying to be a minister, and I believe that there's a whole lot in the Bible that churches are missing about how we should treat our bodies and having pot-lucks and bake sales aren't part of it!) and they were really really impressed by what I had to say (and more importantly by what I had DONE!).

babygrant 02-17-2010 07:21 PM

My eating hasn't been so good these last few days. My son hasn't been feeling well again, so I'm tired and all of my time is spent making sure my children are ok. Last night was the first night he actually slept through the night in a few days!! He's been waking up screaming about pain in his legs and his tummy has been sore (he's been hospitalized for bowel impactions :( ). Its tough for him and I would do anything I can to help him out.

I am going to make up a pot of oatmeal and cook some grains to put in the freezer. I'm thinking of trying ammaranth because it has a huge amount of fiber in it! Read it in the Fiber 35 Diet book. I have quinoa, millet and barley that we love to eat but I just haven't had time to make it.

Anyways, kids need me. Be back tonight.

Soon2BFitChick 02-17-2010 11:50 PM

Hi, just stopping to say I'm OP. Did lots of calculating of BMI, BMR, etc. today. That's interesting! Sure has come down alot since I was 277. Nice to know but I wanna get even lower now, of course. LOLOL.

Anyhoo, gotta go change the baby and hit the sack because I'm worn out! Long day plus I exercised non stop for 62 mins today!!! 30 on treadmill and the rest jogging, marching, knee lifts, arm lifts, etc. in front of Celebrity Fit Club. I liked watching that one too! But yeah, I feel really good after it. I gotta keep it up. My blood was pumping all thru me. Feels so good. :strong:

Ok nite!
Hugs, Selina

retiredone 02-18-2010 08:06 AM

Hello chickies. I had a really bad night Tuesday although all day had been great. If you look on the nutrition log you'll see I posted 1,000,000 calories for the day. Yesterday I was really busy and actually sick from the night before. I just weighed this morning to check things out and I'm up 1.5 pounds and it's probably fat and not water. What a dumb thing to do, especially when I am so close to goal. I guess that won't happen this week. :( It might have been better if I had eaten something I really loved and wanted but it was total and unabashed mindless stuffing of the mouth...sigh...these things happen. Anyhoo, not to flounder in the past, yesterday was good as I ate very light because I had to (still full from the night before) and got in lots of walking and did half the fitness test. Today has started out good also.

I bought a yogurt maker this week, brand new, still in the box, at the goodwill centre for $2. What a buy! I made yogurt yesterday and it turned out wonderful. I've made yogurt on and off for years but I never owned a yogurt maker before. Now, I don't think I'd ever want to go back to making it without one. I had some of the yogurt for breakfast this morning and it was good, very good.

Weebleswobble, all I can say to that is, "Amen, sister!" Glad you had a good affirming meeting.

Nella, good to see you back and thanks for the hug.

Mercy, the concept of "cold" is relative. Last fall I bundled up when the temperature dropped to -1 Celsius (30 F) and now in the middle of winter I'm taking clothes off because it's so warm at -1 C. So you may make a claim to being cold. :D

Thinnerbyjuly
, thank you for asking about my back. It's all better now and I'm walking again. I hope you're feeling better yourself.

Selina, I'm always calculating my BMI and BMR too. I love seeing the numbers going down especially for the BMI. Sounds like you had a great workout.

Bigmid, did you get that pedometer figured out? I've often thought of getting one myself just to see how active I am at home. I know I walk lots outside but inside I think I might qualify as a couch potato. I think a pedometer might get me up and about more as I'm fairly competitive with myself and would keep trying to get in more steps.

Shoupfamily
, if you lose another few pounds before you visit your sister you'll enjoy shopping for clothes like you never did before. There's nothing more enjoyable when shopping then to have something you try on be too big and have to go to the next size down. You'll have a ball!

Dayoneagain
, I'm not an expert on when or when not to eat during exercising but I find I workout/walk best with a bit of fuel in my body. But it should be at least 1/2 hour before doing anything strenuous. Maybe, you could try a small snack as soon as you get up like yogurt, a piece of fruit, or even a glass of milk (not all three) and then after your workout continue your breakfast. You could have your snack laid out in the frig the night before so you can grab it on the go while you're getting ready to go to the gym. I think I read last week that you should have protein with carbs after a hard workout.

Babygrant, I gave up daily weighing some time ago. I got so obsessed with it I had to stop. I personally find weekly weighing much more satisfying (especially if I've lost weight). Hope your little one is feeling better.

Hello to everyone else. We're really doing well as a team.

Soon2BFitChick 02-18-2010 09:23 AM

Isabella, yogurt making sounds like fun and omg, $2?? That's great!!! :carrot:

babygrant, I'm thinking I should only weigh in on Sunday morning too. I do think it is better for me because if I show a gain, which really isnt a gain, I still feel deflated. Plus I do reach harder for a loss and exercise a little more and drink a little more water and eat a little less during the week wanting to MAKE SURE I lose something. :) Good luck and I'm gonna try to do it. Hard to give it up when you get used to it every day. I will try to ask least skip days in the week til I can stop altogether. :goodscale:

weebles, yay!! Yeah, let's plow on thru to the 180s so we never look back!!! Did you all watch Dr. Oz top 100?? Was so good. You can go on his site online and read top 100 tips for losing from ppl who have done it. Smart stuff!! :cp:

Does anyone know about body bug things? Do they tell you what you have burned all day??? I need one if they do! What things can we wear to help us monitor that???

Hiya to Ideal, Bigmid, thinner, Nixmom, Dora, Dream, Shoup, Mercy, Nella, ars, Angela, Gracie, Echo, Dayone, and anyone I missed!!!

I needa go thru the rest of my end of year paperwork for the business. I'm trying to keep organized because the boys may come in March, if we actually do finally get them. We've known about them since July last year. And it is just dragging and draggggging. :( Their worker said yesterday that she is still working on it for us. Uggh. Takes forever. Don't they know the babies are getting older and the worse the transition will be on them the longer they wait. Just sucks. :(

I'm making my coffee :coffee2: and needa go take my thyroid meds before having anything so while I'm thinking about it I better do that.

Oh and my friend and I are setting goals over the next few months. And both of us are making lots of effort to exercise some every single day. Even if it's only 5 mins. It really helps me make it a habit again. You tell yourself 5 mins isn't enough but it takes the spot up, that was one thing I did today, it WAS included. So on days I can do 3 hours, then great but some days I can't. So instead of feeling bad I didn't do any I will do at least 5 mins. Once I do that, then usually I can find 5 or 10 more that day and if I can watch any tv, then there is my time for it! Just march in place while you watch. It helped me lose the first 50 of my 80 several yrs ago when I didn't have $ for a treadmill. I did whatever I had to do to move! I got creative! I jogged while the microwave heated something for 2 mins! I danced! LOL. Anything. Esp if you want it bad enough! I've been doing good on water lately too. I gotta keep that up! :swim:

Ok, going for real now, I love coming here! But got stuff to do. Hugs to each of you girls!!! Have a great OP day!!!!

Hugs, Selina

Hey team! Things are going good here. I've been keeping up on workouts, and still having a few problems with eating clean. I'll keep at it, eventually I'll get it figured out. Yesterday I measured and was a little disappointed I had only lost 1/4" after two weeks, but I know its because of all the naughty foods I've been eating. No time for personals this morning...got a date with the gym! Everyone have a POP day.

dream710 02-18-2010 09:33 AM

Nella- I would eat applesauce and that seemed to help

Nella 02-18-2010 10:21 AM

Dream - Good idea! Have fun at the gym!!

Selina - Yes a body bugg is supposed to keep track of how many calories you burn a day. You wear the monitor all day (and night). I would love to get one, but it's like almost $200, and then a monthly fee. If you can afford it, go for it! Let me know how you like it if you get it. I had seen them at Costo a little cheaper than on their website, so maybe check there.

Isabella - Well, we all make mistakes, and then we move on. I've never seen a yogurt maker. Sounds awesome! I've recently discovered Greek Yogurt, and LOVE it!

BabyGrant - I hope the little one is feeling better soon. I cant imagine how hard that is for a parent to know they don't feel well.

Weebles - Oh no! I hate vomiting. I can only hope I am a lucky one who doesn't get morning sickness! Your meeting sounds like it went well. Best of luck to you in your studies! And WOW!!! I didn't realize you had lost that much already!!! Congrats!!!:carrot:

So, yesterday was an ok day. I went to the gym and did 30 mins on the treadmill. I ran for 5 minutes straight (about 1/2 mile). A new record for me! I have asthma, so running has been my achilles heel in exercising. But I walked a little, then ran for 3 more minutes. I just feel strong when I run, so I'm hoping to be able to run a whole mile soon. Then, I jumped on the elliptical and did another 15 minutes on there. So that was a good cardio day for me. When I got home though I got hungry. I made some chicken breast tenderloins, and ate all 5 pieces!!! It was like 1.4 pounds of chicken! So, I was over my calories, but at least it was healthy protein instead of junk food.

So that's it for me. Have a great day everyone!!!!

"Does anyone know about body bug things? Do they tell you what you have burned all day??? I need one if they do! What things can we wear to help us monitor that???""

Yep, I wear one. Have used it to lose the last 56 or so of the 119 I've lost. It does tell you what you've burned all day (and night!) if you wear it all the time. As far as I know the only things that you can wear like that are Bodybugg, Gowearfit, and Sensewear all made by the same company. Some people wear HR monitors 24/7 but I have found that much less reliable (i.e. it over estimates)

Basically you tell the bodybugg what you've eatten it tells you what youve burned and you keep an eye on your deficit. 500 for 1lb/week 1000 for 2lbs a week.

Ive found it fairly close and accurate. Plus it incourages me to be more active throughout the day when you see how LITTLE you burn doing some things (coughcomputercough) Seriously it's nearly like sleeping.

Love my Bodybugg. Needless to say when I wasn't wearing mine for the first few weeks of this challenge I wasn't doing well but once I put it back on it helped me stay on track.

Good afternoon, my blue ladies,
Still fighting off the tail end of this bug, but believing I'm getting better. I just had to say Idealmuse, I was so inspired to (finally) notice you've lost a total of 119 lbs!!! Very inspirational, and I noted you're training for Ironman competitions too, wow! I feel a little too old with weak knees for that last part, but otherwise, I'm truly inspired by your progress. How long has this taken you? How do you stay motivated? And as others have said, your avatar is gorgeous.

Retiredone - Thanks for reminding me not to do too much too soon. I tend to do just that. As someone else noted, you are so close to goal!!! Another inspirational bloser. Sorry about your recent flub-up day, but you're so good about exercising, even in freezing weather (ugh) and with your new yogurt machine, I have no doubts about your future progress. You're awesome.:cp:

Weebles - Congrats on the size 14s being loose!! I'd love to have that be the case, but I haven't earned it yet. How cool your committee not only nurtured and protected you, but were impressed by your discipline to lose the weight. Discipline/disciple/minister - seems pretty consistent to me.

Nella - Glad your DH is better and that you're "back on the bandwagon". I think I'm getting back on too, in that I haven't been hungry, but once I get better I'll be ravenous, but I've started new habits which I'm hoping will transfer. I'm with you too on the spring weather, much more inspiring to get out and do stuff. :flow2: You're right about the extra calories being protein, that beats fats and oils any day, plus you exercise a lot, so its all good.

Thinner - So good to hear from you again and thanks for the hugs, I find I still need them quite often.

Bigmid - Its been sunny here too (in Oregon) :sunny: Good luck with the steps:running:

Echo - Where are you sweetie?

Shoupfamily - I'm waving at you from here in Roseburg, OR . . . see . . . Have fun shopping.

Dayoneagain - Great positivity, plus weight loss, woo hoo!!! I'm going to be trying to follow Conquering the Fat Loss Code and this is what she says about eating and exercise:
One question I am often asked is, "When shoud I eat? Before or after I exercise?" First off, if you are diabetic, you should always have a small amount of protein prior to any exercise, be it cardio or weight training. For those who aren't diabetic, do morning cardio on an empty stomach and always eat immediately afterward because you will burn up the meal you are eating. Also, you will get more benefit from these meals if you eat proteins that need to be digested rather than whey based proteins.

Hope that helps.

Selina - Oh yes! I l-o-o-o-ve strawberries and blackberries grow wild here on our acreage. They are soooo good in summer smoothies, plus fiber and low calorie. Yummmm.:T

Babygrant - Sure hope your son is feeling better. I know exactly what you mean about you'd do anything to help him out. I had 4 sons and one daughter to raise - such a busy time of life. . . . key word . . . life. Life is what happens while we're busy making other plans, eh? Take care of yourself too, while you care for him, dear one.

Well, that's my personals. Hope to be a little more present. Still working on grief issues, but with more clarity and a little more support. Hope to get exercising for both that and weight loss. This group is so inspirational, small as we may be, we're a power to be reckoned with!!!
