RED TEAM Chat Thread - Week 2 (1/11-1/17)

Sorry this is late....I'll try to start posting the new threads on Sunday night.

RagazzaChristiana 01-11-2010 09:40 AM

I've been travelling non-stop for the last 3 weeks which has made fitness near-impossible, but am excited to be finally settled down and am ready to lose this weight!
I'm especially pumped to be doing the Couch to 5k program, I think it is going to help me a lot, and I'm already dreaming big dreams of running a marathon someday :)
Well, I'm off to do some job hunting! Good luck Red team :D

cabinwife 01-11-2010 09:45 AM

Christiana - Good luck with the c25k! I am currently doing this and I absolutely love it! I never thought I would look forward to running since I always despised it, but I do. Good luck with the job hunting as well!

discogal 01-11-2010 09:46 AM

Ok, I really sucked last week, I still lost 2#, but I totally fell off plan....on Tuesday:(
But its a new week and I am more determined than ever.

shea5 01-11-2010 11:35 AM

OK, apparently I'm an epic fail at reading; I thought we still had to Monday night to post our weights. So I've burned my first Freebie, and totally didn't need to, or mean to :( Thats a bummer. Anyhow, it was a small loss, even though I've been almost perfectly on plan, so maybe no big deal I burned it. I was so looking forward to posting though.... finally getting started...

Violet73 01-11-2010 12:07 PM

congrats aclai (Ashley) on being our team's biggest loser this week! WTG!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Purplefirefly 01-11-2010 12:08 PM

:woohoo: Aclai...our biggest loser for week 1...great job :woohoo:

I am trying to determine whether to jump into the exercise challenge this week or not...my hip/back is not as painful today but it is still extremely sore and tender and hurts if I stay on my feet too long, so i know I need to take it easy. BUT I will hopefully be back to at least walking indoors in a day or two....:chin: decisions, decisions

I managed to lose 1.4 pounds this week despite the past few days of laying in bed and eating whatever hubby brought to me. I'm back to eating on plan today and making my own food at least....almost out of the 260s!

Ms Perception 01-11-2010 12:12 PM

Well, here's to a new and POP week! I've started out well, but actually I haven't strayed too much at all since the 2nd and I STILL can't rid myself of these last bits of holiday weight. I understand (from what I've read) a "normal" person probably takes a couple weeks to even out weight-wise after the holidays, so I'm trying to be patient. I don't mind it in general since I feel good, I'm exercising and I'm close to goal, but for competition purposes it kinda stinks!

Purplefirefly 01-11-2010 12:14 PM

LeslieLou--just saw your post in the other thread! I am using a heating pad and I have been laying in a very hot bath a lot. I won't be curling up in that recliner ever again! I can move around much better today, and can actually lift up my leg without crying, so I'm making progress. It feels more like very, very bad cramps and a sore spot instead of all the pain I had before.

Ms Perception 01-11-2010 12:19 PM

Congrats, ACLAI!!

Holy cow, we had some BIG losers this week! Congrats to all those who did such a fantastic job!!!

ArmyWife02 01-11-2010 12:22 PM

i've decided to try again on the exercise and food threads.... i'm takign the food journal day by day, so it doesnt overwhelm me ;)
i've written out my exercise challenge on a post-it and stuck it to my laptop...so while i'm on my computer i'll see/feel it and remember to get my arse off this ball and roll into the living room (which is just around the couch from me here in the dining/office area). LOL :)
well DS is doing wonderfully on potty training so far today ;) so looks like Mondya could be a good start to the week ;) about to have my lunch and maybe get a short nap or workout ;) lol i'm so tired lately....think its the staying up late and getting up early thats killin me.....that and as the days go by i get more excited about getting to see my hubby again soon :) :cheer:

sweetandspicy 01-11-2010 12:26 PM

Ok So A freebie was used. Totally not my fault. So I must explain. I live in Tennessee and we had a snow storm this weekend. We usually do not get snow so our town is not so equipped to deal with winter weather. Our satellite was down and therefore I did not have an internet provider. I debated on whether or not to try to get to the library to use one of there computers but with our driveway still icy I did not want to risk an accident.

I did not loose any I weighed yesterday and was 186.0 which is great because I was afraid of a gain. So hopefully a loss next week!!

Sorry for the use of the freebie!! But congrats to all the loosers!!!

jessicado22 01-11-2010 12:36 PM

Hiya ladies. Sorry I was missing in action for week 1. I signed up for this challenge last month (with a starting weight of 229), and then TOTALLY fell off the wagon for some parties before Christmas....which then continued to Christmas.....then my bday....then extended it through New Years and some. I had actually gotten down to 224 before relapsing, but when I weighed back in last week I was up to 240. I was so mad at myself I couldn't stand to get back on here and change my tickers. I have been on track for the past week and the scale was down to 232 today so I used a freebie for this week so I didn't screw up the team.
I am finally getting past the sugar withdrawal cravings, so I think this new week is going to go better than the last temptation wise. I am also running everyday and really focusing on ST, so I am hoping to help the team next weigh in! I won't be able to join in the chats a ton unfortunately. I just started college again this term, and with 2 jobs and being a part time mom, plus making a commitment to exercise I don't have a lot of free time anymore. I'll still try to get on here at least once or twice a week though and weigh in! Go red team!

Aclai4067 01-11-2010 01:27 PM

Thanks ladies! And congrats to the runners up: aeart, abey, LeslieLou! It looks like the blue team is going to be a pretty formidable opponent this time around, so we've gotta stay on our game. Burn it!

sawa1210 01-11-2010 02:10 PM

Congrats to all our big losers!

medinazarley 01-11-2010 02:18 PM

Congrats to all of our big losers!

So last week staying up on the food journal here was a little overwhelming, so I think I'm just going to participate in the LCW thread. Now i need to get off my bum and do my am workout (its 2:15 PM). I way overslept today, again.

tonimaroni2 01-11-2010 08:57 PM

I've been totally on plan and doing REALLY good as far as working out goes... for more than two weeks now. Not even a pound lost, I'm pretty disappointed. I think this is the most I've ever applied myself as far as exercise goes so hopefully this week I see some results.

ArmyWife02 01-11-2010 09:42 PM

i didnt do any of my dvd or wii workouts today... :( i was too tired. i took a nap after lunch. but i feel better now. I did get on the trampoline with the kids for a half hour after we got DD from school. so i did get some exercise and burned 330 calories....although my eating was off today....i'll try to do better tomorrow.

hopefully if you stick to it you'll get a woosh!! Just remember to drink enough water! Good luck!

crcossel 01-11-2010 11:39 PM

Hey everyone....I am here but I used a freebie too because I didn't realize that the WI date had changed. Apparently there was a purple team that changed it? Anyway, hopefully I can make this work. I'm going to try :P. And I have major motivation. My sister is getting married in St Thomas while on a cruise in September. And.....I really want a balcony room but my dh doesn't cuz of the cost. Sooooo.....if I make 130 by July 15th I get my balcony room!

ArmyWife02 01-11-2010 11:51 PM

thats great motivation Candice :) I'd rather have a balcony too ;) more views and fun than an inside room. hope you hit your goal before the july deadline :) good luck :)

mulder1921 01-12-2010 12:36 AM

Good job Red Team! Even though we didn't win this week it was a close one. I have confidence we'll step it up and win big next week.

Have a good week everybody!

Violet73 01-12-2010 07:20 AM

purplefirefly....glad its a little better! Tonight I'm gonna do Walk Away The Pounds and then watch the Biggest Loser! staying on plan just hasn't been hard for me I guess cause I love meat and salads! :D I just hope I have a loss after last week....

chewysmom 01-12-2010 07:33 AM

Just pokin my head in to say Hi! It's been crazy for me for the last few days. We finally got a diagnosis for my dad (Hep B). We're hoping they will admit him to the hospital today for a feeding tube. He's down to 109 lbs, on a 6'1" body. :( He is super sick, and between homeschooling my kids and trying to deal with him, I'm exhausted.

I have to say, I think we (the red team) did great! Keep it up everyone.

VeeDeValentine 01-12-2010 07:43 AM

Well done everyone! Those are great results! :)

:D So today I had a really big reflection moment, I don't know if anyone else has had one? But I've been eating healthily and calorie couting for just under a month, and this is the first one I've had.
So basically, school was over for me, but I went to the local supermarket with a friend because she was hungry, and I wanted a snack to last me until I got home to lunch. She's my best friend, but hates her weight, has a horrible eating habit, and I think may be one of the reasons why I used to snack so often...anyway.
I bought an apple, because it was all I wanted.
She bought two packets of crisps, a large carton of apple juice (150cals!) and a bag of chocolate raisans with over 1000 calories in it.
This was for her lunch.
I didnt say anything, because she is very touchy about what she eats, but it amazed and to be honest, shocked me. I can't belive that I used to eat so badly! Seriously, I wouldn't dare eat it now, not even one packet of crips because I don't crave them, and I don't want them in my body.
Anywho, I just wanted to share it, because it just really shocked me, and gave me a little reality jolt of the contradiction between me now, and me a month ago :)

nickel23 01-12-2010 10:51 AM

Good morning ladies! Congrats to all the losers this past week.

Last week I was smack in the middle of TOM so it was kind of a crappy week for me and we had our yearly blizzard (1 inch of snow, but in TN we think it's 1 foot) . This week though I'm hitting the ground running.

Have any of you ladies heard of Demarle cookware? I had a brunch for my friends yesterday using this and it is excellent for cooking healthy foods. I made a crustless quiche with fresh veggies and it was great, no oils were used, minimal butter and the cleanup was a breeze. I also roasted asparagus and my daughter that is a very picky eater ate four pieces! Needless to say I'm a believer in this stuff and I can't wait to cook chicken and fish in it as well.

Good luck this week ladies and have an awesome day!!!

shea5 01-12-2010 11:29 AM

tonimaroni2 - Hang in there, the results will show...believe me, I know its frustrating, but it will happen

I am trying to remember to take a multivitamin, I have been feeling pretty tired. Part and parcel of getting up at 4:45 every day, I know, but still out of character for me. I'm trying to stay committed, although I'm tired...; I did go to bed at 9:00 last night, so that helped

Tamara 01-12-2010 12:05 PM

Good afternoon team... :carrot:

I decided last week to start doing two-a-days. I seem to lose the most weight when I work out twice a day. Yesterday, I did a FUN Aquacise class and then some circuit training. Today, I did 30 Day Shred , and will do Spinning class tonight. My gym offers great classes. So the plan is to do an excercise vid in the AM, and a class + plus some individual work in the evenings. ;) Let's get this weight off, RED TEAM! Have a great week!!!

Ms Perception 01-12-2010 01:04 PM

I can't get on to pg 2 of the thread to catch up, but I'll post anyway. Hope everyone is having an OP day so far.
I got a small loss on the scale this morning. Apparently this last bit of holiday weight was real weight gain and not the usual salt/bloat gain from a day of indulgence. I DEFINITELY indulged for more than a day!! LOL Anyway, it's coming off now, slow but sure. I have another good OP day planned with a new White Chicken Chili recipe I'm trying for supper. I've made WCC before, but this is a different (crockpot) version I'm trying out now. I hope it's good, 'cuz I love chili...in many forms! YUM!!

cabinwife 01-12-2010 03:48 PM

Yum! I love white chicken chili! Maybe I'll make some this week...

Purplefirefly 01-12-2010 04:26 PM

I am feeling a bit better again today...going to try to do a short yoga workout tonight, we'll see if that helps or hurts me. Nothing really new on my end so on to personals...

Are you taking measurements? I bet you are losing inches and will start seeing changes in your clothing then a big drop on the scale....keep doing what you know is best for your body and it will happen!

I think you handled it just perfectly. You had your moment of personal inspiration and didn't say anything to her. She will have to come to her own moment of change in her own time. I would just do what is best for you and support her as a friend when/if she decides it's time for her to make some changes...you can't change her and she obviously isn't open to commentary/opinions so I think you handled it just right.

I am dealing with the same thing....mornings suck :(

Violet73 01-12-2010 05:56 PM

VeeDeValentine...i agree with purplefirefly...you handled it great! I bet once your friend starts seeing changes in your weight she will wanna do the same!

medinazarley 01-12-2010 07:56 PM

So, I am having trouble finding my, whats it called...? "give a damn". i know its there, but this week has started so crazy and school starts thursday and i've been putin a dineing out position the last two dinners, and my hair is being weird, and i'm sleepy, and my neck hurts, and my knee is acting up a bit, and i have 1,000 excuses and 2 workouts to do today. hmph! I just wish my workout buddy hadnt bailed on me.

p.s. my internship will be with an allergist at the cleveland clinic foundation, one of the nations leading hospitals!! Woo!!

tricia80 01-12-2010 08:27 PM

Just peeking in... day 2 of 12 hr shifts done.. 1 more to go.. then one day off then working fri-mon.... OMG.. i am exhausted thinking about it... I need to get on the elliptical.. I don't think i can do the LCW as I am exhausted... plus i need to be able to lift patients tomorrow.. LOL

Just thought I would pop in and say hi... Trying my best to be good but its difficult...

crcossel 01-12-2010 09:21 PM

hello all, i just realized how greaat this chat idea is. I apologize in advance because i rather suck at mentioning everyone elses posts. But i'll put in my 2 cents whenever i can.

Today I am so proud of myself. It was back to the grind today. We do alot of weddingd and we are booked solid with wedding consults this week. However during our lunch I did watp for the first time. Way harder than I thought. Tonight is the hard part. I have a super bad headache. Also I have this weird issue that in the evening my legs ache really bad. really bad. Sometimes I cant sleep cuz of it.......

I'll be ok I just get irritable when i'm hurting.

ChopperChick355 01-12-2010 09:31 PM

Good Evening all- wow so many did such a wonderful job with their weightloss efforts that is great

sorry again I am not great at personals either but I do have to say great job VeedeeValentine you are doing a great job sticking to your plan even though your friend was still buying stuff that you USE to eat so yes I believe she will see your accomplishments and will want to follow suit

Candice you go girl I would do everything possible as well to lose the weight and have a balcony suite they are so much nicer :)

shea5 I totally agree about staying motivated when you are getting up so early in the mornings - I am having to get up and be on the road by 3am and not getting home till about 3pm or so and let me tell you not going to bed till after 9pm well usually 10pm I am not getting much sleep and with having bronchitis not getting much quality good sleep over the last week
I still plan on losing this week as next week we leave for Jamaica and I know what will happen on vacation especially since it is an all-inclusive trip

Well I will check back in tomorrow- so everybody have a Great Wednesday

I am like this and so is my daughter and my sister..it's just being tired! My mom used to tell us to go to bed and we'd feel better in the AM and I always thought she just didn't understand how it hurt. Turns out she was SO RIGHT! I still do it and know just going down for a good night of rest will fix it.
