Well, that's my sermon for today. Have a great one.

    Diva
, I was shopping on Friday and was looking at some exercise clothing. I need a new pair of pants and I was checking out the hoodies that matched. I pulled one out of the rack and on the back in big bold letters were "DIVA". I thought of you immediately.
HA! You should have gotten them for me for Christmas! LOL! j/k hehe

Thanks for all the great advice. You're one of my 3FC fav's.

Dream Looks like we are in the same Strugglin' boat and pretty doing the same things. *sigh* I hope we can get it back on track this week. Kids do take up so much time when they are little.

bev, I'd DIE without Internet & Cable. Oh my goodness

inklestinkle: You go girl with your tree planting! Hopefully that burned off some of that FF. I am surely expecting a nice GAIN after a wweek of self sabotage & FF eating. I'm skkkeeeeerrred!

practiceliving: I hope you have the most AWESOME wedding! You're gonna be beautiful.

Nix: Good job on getting off those 5 lbs! I bet that's what my week will consist of. Wish me luck!!!

For ALL of the Blue Team! lets undo some of the bad we did in week 3 and bust some serious butt in Week 4! We can do it!!!!
  • Hello team! Sorry that I haven't been around so much. I had a lot of things to do this week, my sister has been moving, so a lot of work. This week I only lost 0.2 pound, at least no gaining.. Will try better next week. I'm planning to run 3 times/week.
  • Hi team! Hope everyone's had a good week. I have had a busy week, very busy weekend, and finished this morning with a 5k walk. I have only done one walking "event" before and it was years ago. I had a fantastic time today! Someday (next summer?) I'd like to be able to run that distance.
  • Again I want to thank you all for all the prayers that were said for Robbie.

I thought I would give you an update. This if from Caringbridge.com. It is a wonderful website where family members can go and set up a blog very easily so everyone can stay updated in a time of illness. You can post pics and guest can sign a guest book and leave well wishes.

Yesterday evening Robbie had a tracheotomy. The ventilator had been removed from his throat and he looks much more comfortable. The nurses asked they we give him some quiet time so that he is able to rest. They informed us that the next step would be to lower the amount of breathing the machine is doing for him and see how he responds. According to the information they gave us, it will be much easier for them to wean Robbie off of the breathing machine with the trach than it would have been with the ventilator.

We stopped in to see Robbie this morning but they are still asking that we give him some time to rest. The nurses informed us that they have already begun lowering the machine that breaths for Robbie and he is responding very well. Robbie's trach is not permanent but he will most likely have it in for some time while he is still in the hospital. Once he is able to maintain his own airway/breath without assistance and he is calm and alert when he is not sedated he will move onto the next step of his recovery. They will then put Robbie on a weaker sedative and he will be able to be moved to a room outside of the Neurological ICU. The length of this process is soley dependant on how Robbie responds but we are continuing to stay positive (especially after the good report we received this morning!)

As always, thank you all for everything. Please continue to keep Robbie in your thoughts and prayers (as you can see, it's working!) God Bless.
  • Quote: I really appreciate when someone does reply to me or note something I said, makes me feel warm and tingly and appreciated, so if I can evoke that feeling in someone else, I should be doing it too!
hehe i feel exactly the same way!!
it does feel good to be acknowledged.

Quote: Well Diva and you (Echo) were so gracious last week to come over to the Red Team thread to congratulate us; I wanted to do the same for your win. Because in the end, we are all winners for taking back our lives and health. Congrats on your PhD, I know how hard you must have worked for that.

Diva, hang in there we all struggle, no matter what team we are on, so don't give up.
    nicely said!!!

    aww thank you so much!!

Quote: Hey lady, thanks for the acknowledgement! I feel the tingles...

I started in March of 08 or so, and literally started at around 200 lbs. My friends and I started jogging together and I couldn't even run for 1 min. I started to focus more on speedy weight loss, keeping a notebook in my purse (I've gone through 4 now and save each one) and I counted cals and carbs, staying between 1000 and 1200 most days, and trying to stay under 60-80 carbs. It worked well for me, and weight dropped fast. By October of 2008, I was 145 or so lbs. But by then I decided to really get on track with running (I had signed up for a half marathon that was to be in Feb of 09) so I ate a bit more, more carbs, and ran my butt off! I ran the half marathon

Here are some before and afters, I hope they show up. Let's really get on each other to get down to our goal, and get this show on the road! I've been teetering in between 134-145 all this year, I need to get myself in gear once and for all!
WOWEEE happeningf you have come so far! you're an inspiration! well done on losing so much weight. you look so stunning and beautiful!!!

and you give me hope that one day i can run for more than 1 minute at a time!

Sweetie Darlin' (hehe do you watch Absolutely Fabulous?) I KNOW you were busy getting you Ph.D and I am soooo proud of you and I was worried because you hadn't been here after that (well right away anyway) and I was afraid something went wrong.
ME? A star player? No way...ya think so?? I try to be supportive to everyone. I really do. I love my team!

Yeah I am not really one to just bust out and ask for recognition or pats on the back. I don't posts a lot of before and after pics, because for one, I don't have any, but if I did, I prolly wouldn't post them. I just like a bit of advice or whatever when I come out and say yes, I am struggling. IF I am wrong someone fill me in please, because I seriously view these chat threads as a support system. Where we can vent, brag or what have you, and then return the favor. I want to be a source of support for you girls, and it is hard for me to even admit that I struggle too. It was hard for me to have busted my butt in the GYM that way and hardly be able to walk and see that dang scale move up. It was frustrating and I gave up. I was like why am I doing this? Why am I going without the food I REALLY want to eat and killing myself in the GYM for nothing...so I gave up. I exercised 1 day last week and haven't counted 1 calorie in 6 days. So now when that scale shows a gain, it won't be because I busted my a$$ trying to lose. Self Sabatoge. I'm the queen. Even if I already know deep inside it was water retention and my muscles healing, it's nice to see other peeps confirm this. That's called SUPPORT.

    :
yah you are ! a key team mate!

aww thanks so much Diva. really appreciate that!! so sweet of you to say that you're proud of me. that means alot to me!

yeh exactly, when you work out really hard your muscles retain water. so just keep watching what you're eating, hitting that gym hard, 5 days a week with 1-2 days rest days. and you will see a drop in no time!
its maths. calories in, calories out! it might just take a little bit of time. hang in there girly!!

what might also help is drinking LOTS of water and watching your sodium intake.

So, how about starting up a Question of the Day to spark some conversation? I'll get us started. Today's question:

Are the weekends tougher for you to stay on-plan? What specific thing are you doing this weekend to keep yourself on-plan?

    :
    awesome about you feeling great!

    great question!!

what motivates me, is that i dont want to let my team down. so i push it hard during my workouts!! if i cant be so good with the food.

like on friday i went to a pizza slumber party, but turned out the hostess made pasta salad, and garlic bread and carrots and hummus and other stuff. as a STARTER and i said, noway we aint ordering pizza. this is MORE than enough!!
and before the party, i worked out hard! had 3 workouts. kenpo X p90x, running and bike. burned 1200 calories in total including normal just walking around.
the whole week. i only managed to work out 2 days out of the whole week. but those 2 days i worked out REALLY hard. and i had plenty of rest days, which before i never thought were important. but they so are!! and getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep. also important.

and it paid off cause todays my weigh in and i've gone down about 2lbs! yipeeeee. my food has been bad this week. eating out at restaurants a few times, and not eating on plan and taking quite a few days off aswell. but the two days that i did work out, i hit that workout HARD and pushed myself really hard.

it does work. working out hard , really does work. but whats important is to rest aswell. 2 days a week should be REST and getting 7-8 hours asleep

jillian michales says, id rather you get 7-8 hours of sleep and forgo workouts. cause its during sleep that you burn fat!!

also dont eat carbs 3 hours before you go to sleep. because insulin blocks the release of HGF human growth factor, which helps to burn fat.

also when you go to sleep 3 hours after eating dinner. during your sleep, your body will be looking for energy. obviously you wont wake up to eat, so it looks for fat to burn for energy instead. but if you have food in your tummy, it will use that instead of your storage.

so i try to eat 3 hours before i go to sleep.

Quote: Hey ladies!!!.. lol its been a crazy week for me.. so am sorry I havent had a chance until now to pop over and say Congrats on winning Week 2.. you girls rawked it! Way to go! I hope we all have another great week...
awwwww thanks Angela! you're so sweet

Quote: [B][U]OOPS! speak...ahhh...type...he has meatballs simmering in the crock-pot. I CAN hit the GYM on Sat ( and soon Sundays too) but I am seriously trying to keep them rest days so when I bust my butt in the GYM all week, my body has a chance to act right by the time I WI on Monday's.

exactly!!! thats right hit the gym hard, but rest aswell!!
aww must be so hard to resist!! those yummy smells and foods!!!

Diva i read the article you posted, i really liked it! thanks girly!!
Quote: I have a 3.2lbs loss to report and that's with TOM coming so yeah!!!
    well done!! awesome!!
    Quote: Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been able to post much this week. I've been so busy with all of my children's appointments, activities, school stuff etc. Anyway, I see that we won week 2 Congratulations everyone!!

I've mostly been on plan except for yesterday. It wasn't too bad but it wasn't good either. I am down 2 lbs since last weigh-in but I have a feeling after yesterday I'll be up a bit.

Diva, I am so sorry that your feelings were hurt I replied to your post in the week 2 thread, although I admit it was just a quick reply, and I should have been more supportive. I am glad you are not leaving the group!

Echo congratulations on your Phd! That is awesome!!!!!!!!!

A big hello to everyone and to anyone that is struggling big Hang in there, you can do it!

I hope it's ok if I post this link, but I see that a lot people are noticing fluctuations with their weight and are getting frustrated by their scales. I think this is a great article regarding that:

thats Awesome Narnia!! well done girly!! proud of you !!

thanks for the article!! gonna go read it !

and aww thank you so much !!!

thanks for the update on Robbie. i hope he gets better soon. bless him
  • Hi fellow Bluesers!!! So I've been granted permission to give an idea for the Week 4 Challenge and I'm super excited about it! It's going to be a "temptation challenge" of sorts and I'm starting the thread for it tomorrow so it'll be ready to go on Tuesday morning. I'm going out of town this week, maybe longer, so I won't be able to log in with my results bc there's no internet where I'll be (at my Mema's in the boonies!), but everyone here keep motivated, particpate in the challege if you want, and I know it'll be great! Watch out for the blue team--we're kicking butt again this week! Everybody have a great week and I'll catch up when I get back.
  • Just wanted to tell everyone that I took part in the Run for the Cure this morning . I can't remember my time last year but I believe it was somewhere around 50 mins - basically I walked the majority of it and jogged a little. Well this year, it was to opposite! I jogged the majority and only had to take a couple of walking breaks. So I completed the 5 k in 38 mins - beating my time by atleast 10 mins!!! I have lost a bit more than 15 lbs since this time last year plus gaining muscle. I have also being practicing jogging on a fairly regular basis. Its amazing what I can achieve with exercise and training . Imagine what I can do in a year when I lose more weight and continue with jogging - maybe beating my time by another 10 mins
  • So, this morning was disappointing for me. 179.4. The scale has been up this whole week and I don't understand why. I've done my workouts and counted my calories, but it's still up. So I hate to post a gain, but it is what it is. Sorry girls.

Had a nice weekend though, hope everyone else did too.
  • Had a really good weekend. Stayed on plan but did not work out. Needed a couple of days rest from the hard workouts I did all week. Plus I had to clean my house it was a mess. Must go shopping after work today. I have no food trying to figure out what to make for lunch.

Rhonda-great ?-What I do to stay motivated is think of my mom. She was morbidly obese from the time she was in her thirties. She was a wonderful mother but it kept her from being able to do a lot of things with us kids. I always wanted to be able to do physical things with my kids. So even though I have been overweight most of my adult life I have always kept it to a manageable amount. Obesity runs in my family so that has always been my motivator.

Echo- Congrats on hitting the workouts hard this week. I guess it did pay off 2 lbs is alot to cheer about!

Isn't amazing what a year will bring. I am positive next year you will definitely beat your time. Keep Rocking it!

AWESOME!! i cant wait to find out what it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i definately need some sort of challenge this week.

as i''m feeling poorly. i have a really painful sore throat it started yesterday. and i think i got a cold.
the whole year i was fine. cause i was stressed and on edge regarding my exam. as soon as i relaxed, thats when it hits you! lol

i've taken some medicine, so feeling abit better, gonna wait for abit and then maybe do some yoga or something.

question for my fellow team mates as i dont know myself are you meant to exercise when you have a cold?? does it help? make the situation worse? i have no clue

its okay, dont worry about it. your weight will go up and down! its probably just water retention. just means you will have a bigger loss next week!!

aww thanks so much Mary!! i really appreciate that

and thats a great idea resting after your hard workouts. your body needs time to recuperate, and i predict you will have a great loss for the next weigh in!

Girlfriend, I have no idea. I know when I have a cold I skip the GYM because it sets off my Asthma. I do hope ya feel better soon. Luv ya!

So I got on the scale this morning to access the damage and to my Surprise it was exactly the same! NO GAIN! OMG!!! I was expecting it to show a 3 to 5 pound gain (that's how bad I was). Go figure.... I certainly will NOT use this as an opportunity to be bad. I'm getting back on track today!

I have me a sick & moody teenager home today..YAY me!
  • So pissed at myself
You ever have a week where you try a new exercise, and work your butt off and gain weight? I lost weight the last 2 weeks, one of which I was sick and didn't exercise.

It took me 8 years to break the 140 mark, and 7 days to gain enough to be above it. So my question is, is it true that a new exercise, in my case jm's 30 day shred, can make you gain weight initially?

yap! your muscles are probably sore, and theres extra water fluid that is surrounding the muscles, to repair it. the extra water is carrying nutrients to repair the torn muscles. dont worry !
