Blue Bombshells - Week 8 Chat

How can it be week 8 already?

maryshady 07-13-2009 10:18 AM

Stayed the same this week. Just can't get motivated to get back to staying on plan.

Marianne-You look great. I can really see the difference in your face. Keep up the hard work.

Institches21 07-13-2009 10:37 AM

I also can't believe it's Week 8, Hope it's a Great One for Us All!!

Well, need to run-talk to all soon

practiceliving 07-13-2009 10:39 AM

Dee - I honestly don't know how we're at Week 8 already! Where is the time going??

I've got my whole day planned out. WI tomorrow, so wish me luck!!

Oh and I'm still curious for your suggestions about what I should take to eat on a 5-hour plane ride!

Institches21 07-13-2009 10:54 AM

practice-when I travel, some good choices for me, a few raw almonds, fiber one bar, an apple, or some pretzels, since you will be on a plane for 5hrs, I would have a very fiber rich meal before, so you won't be hungry for any slip ups, there are too many temptations at the airport for me!, if I know I have to miss a meal I bring along an atkins meal-replacement bar {I find they have the least amout of sugar} and drink plenty of water with your snack {in the states, can't bring any liquids through the gate, but once we are through that, we get a bottled water}

Have a Great Time-Enjoy your visit

bindersbee 07-13-2009 11:37 AM

Practiceliving- have a great time!

My weigh in for the week makes it look like I had a bad week (+0.4) at 191.0 but in reality I had a really good week and was as low 188.0. Then, my scale died and I had to buy a new one. I am pretty bummed about it. I know I'm too reliant on the scale when having to buy a new one had me all in a panic yesterday. Of course this one weighs me a little different, and heavier. I swear that EVERYTHING is conspiring to keep me from being in the 180's. Weird!

Maryshady- when I just can't get myself going foodwise, I often try to force myself to do a serious workout and often find the workout makes me more motivated with the food part. If you haven't done that, maybe try it.

Time to kick it in hard this week so I don't have to look at that dang 190 something one more week. Doesn't matter that I shouldn't have to be seeing it now, I'm just going to have to 'relose' the same weight again. Grrrr!

I hope everyone else is doing okay.

melwolfe 07-13-2009 12:04 PM

Hello all, I didn't lose alot but I did lose so I'll take it. I will be on vacation next week so won't have a scale unless I can find somewhere to weigh I'll use a freebie or whatever but hoping to find somewhere to weigh in next week.

Hang in there to all of you who are struggling, it'll get better just keep trying. Oh well, actually working today so I guess I should get to it.

Somni 07-13-2009 06:09 PM

Hi hope everyone is doing well! It's been so crazy settling back in and getting caught up on everything and now we have my best friend staying with us til she flies back home (she lives in Sweden), so most free time has been playing hostess. Took her to my gym today, so that was fun.

Last week was a good week, after all the traveling craziness it was nice to have some more structure again.

Oh also I'm pretty psyched that I'm only 2 lbs away from hitting the first goal I made for myself on the boards! (To lose 31 lbs) Hopefully that is good motivation for this next week. :)

zinkemomx2 07-13-2009 09:40 PM

This week was bad. I took a break from counting calories. Normally this would not have been that big of a deal. But then TOM decided she was going to make an appearance. I still got my runs in so I am pleased with that. I think I'm going to start back counting again in the morning. This week will be a freebie though.

Jacque9999 07-14-2009 03:42 AM

This is not one of my better weeks...not gaining but got so much on my mind...Run/Walk Mile tomorrow, travel to CA on Thurs for a 25 yr reunion...TOM is lurking around the corner. Why couldn't I have been early like I have been for the last 3 months? No, I am due on Sunday and am so so moody, bloated and yucky...Great, can't wait to get to that starting line tomorrow, and oh yeah, get on a plane for 6 hours the next day!!!

Okay, I am done b**tchin'

trekkiegirl 07-14-2009 09:59 AM

These last two weeks have been a washout for me. I came down with a cough/cold, emphasis on the coughing part. I still have it, though not as bad now. Then I also got TOM at the same time. I haven't exercised in two weeks. Needless to say, I've felt like crap physically and it's been rather disheartening. :( No great gain but no great loss either.

I'm just sick of being sick!!!

suzie42 07-14-2009 11:48 AM

Hi Blue Team!

Beautiful day here in NE GA USA. But hot hot hot...whew!

I was just going to update my exercise on the exercise thread...but it's closed? I guess not enough activity?

Yeah I was wondering about that myself. I had forgotten to start tracking when I got back from our vaca but remembered yesterday but thread looked closed. I couldn't read the boards much while I was gone so completely missed if there was anything said about it.

SweetScrumptious 07-14-2009 03:31 PM

Arg... I'm gaining back a few pounds here. I don't know why... the only thing that has changed is that I have STOPPED taking my birth control...

Could stopping BC cause weight gain because of a drop in hormones? Grrr I'm so confused...

Soon2BFitChick 07-14-2009 05:00 PM

I forgot again to post my weight??? I am up a lb I think, not surprising and haven't had a chance to barely shower and feed everyone here and do our business stuff and run the kids to football camp or pick them up, take care of the baby, clean, do laundry, I go to bed at 1am or later and get up at 630am. This is so not the environment to lose weight in. And will only be worse after our two little boys get here. I have to worry about everyone and everything else first. My friends and family members who have no children at all can lose so easily (they gain it back all the time too tho) but losing is easy when you have a few minutes a day to think of yourself, make your food, sit and eat, plan things, etc.

I bet I hafta stop this challenge like last time when I was so swamped when we started the business. Last two days I've had a friend of my son's here too. Today they broke my daughter's ceiling fan experimenting with what would happen if a string was put on one blade, would it fly to the middle? YES!!! So after I went outside and rinsed out their giant blow up pool and let it dry for when they want it again, took forever, then they ask if they can make a mud pie in it. I said yes if they clean it right after. (I loved making mud pies in pans when I was a kid and my mom was really laid back and let us, as long as we cleaned it up.) They haven't and that was yesterday.

How can I do all my work when I need to be watching them all??? So since work can't wait, documents are time-sensitive and must be mailed out asap after completion, I have them watch a movie or play boardgames while I do my paperwork to keep them close here. It's hard juggling it all when school is out. It doesn't change things for most ppl, kids go to daycare if not to school but for me it changes things. Also, when toddler boys get here there will be NO time for work even, potty training and all that. It's crazy.

Sorry to ramble but I don't know if I can even remember to post much less to make sure I have salad here and all that. I've been grabbing a bite of whatever is already there the last few days, not tons of food at all, but bad foods lately. Trying to just eat a few bites so I'm not hungry til later that night I have time to make and eat something better.

So sorry to complain, I hope you all have good results from this challenge. I know you will! Just being able to come here to talk about their weight loss helps everyone. :) One day I will find time to do what I need to do for me. May be a few years from now but at some point they all WILL be in school.

Bye for now, you all take care, Selina

bindersbee 07-14-2009 07:10 PM

Selina- even if you don't have time to do everything right you should stick with the challenge. MAINTAINING weight loss is just as important as having it in the first place. If you know you'll be accountable once per week, you may still make a little better choices than you would otherwise.

Stick around and make it your goal to FINISH the challenge EVEN IF you don't lose anymore weight. I employ the 'sprint and coast' method of loss myself. I sprint (work really hard) when I can then try to coast (maintain) when life is too much to do the work required to lose.

Finally, have you considered that part of the reason you keep yourself so involved and busy with everyone else (both family and those you help) so you won't HAVE to deal with your own needs/issues? That may or may not be the case but as someone who has done the same thing and nearly killed myself off doing it, I thought I'd throw it out there. Take it if it helps you, leave it if it isn't applicable to your situation.

maryshady 07-16-2009 07:35 AM

Selina-First of all breathe...lol! I understand the swamped thing but remember you need to take care of yourself first before you are any good to anyone else. Why not do an inventory of what is in your pantry. Sounds like you don't have a lot of time so you are just grabbing what is there. If you only have good foods on hand when you grab something it will be healthful. If you plan your meals once per week and do most of the cooking that day (dh should be able to handle things for about an hour or two for you) chix, brown rice, hard boiled eggs, cut up veggies and fruits and have it all ready for the week I think it is doable. What you put in your mouth is 80% of weigh loss, exercise only accounts for 20%. So don't feel like if you can't workout then you might as well give up. The food is the main contributor to a loss/gain. (((hugs)))

Still hanging in here. Been reading the "Thin Commandments" and I really like the strategies in the book. Now to put them into being! But have really been thinking before I put something in my mouth.

Have a great Thursday!

retiredone 07-16-2009 08:51 AM

Hello, I've been MIA because my son got married and I was so busy. I'm so tired from all the festivities and I'm sure I've gained weight but things are getting back to normal and I should get back to where I should be in a few weeks. I missed my last 2 weigh ins so I have to be vigilant for the rest of the challenge. Hope everyone is doing well.

CruiseCAT 07-16-2009 10:55 AM

Hi Ladies,

CruiseCAT 07-17-2009 12:08 AM

Girl friend.... what on earth is going on? Don't you worry about the numbers. We just wanted to make sure you were OK. I don't follow your team but when I noticed you had not posted and didn't respond to my email I was just worried.

If you need anything just let me know.

bindersbee 07-17-2009 12:09 AM

I'm having a good week thus far weight wise because I'm too dog dang sick to want to eat. I've got strep throat. I'm not exercising at all this week but I'm still trying to eat healthy and get lots of water. Not how I WANT to lose weight (especially because weight lost due to being sick usually rebounds quickly) but it will give me a decent loss for the week.

Oh- and my scale may be more accurate than I thought. I didn't realize it was TOM until it hit.

Idealmuse 07-17-2009 12:45 AM

Dixied don't worry about it please take care of yourself...

If you need help still PM me.

Institches21 07-18-2009 01:11 AM

dixied- hope everythings okay, the last thing you need to worry about is numbers, just take care.

Nixmom 07-18-2009 11:39 PM

Hi Bombshells... I'm still here... and have used my second freebie so I gotta get it together. I may be quiet the next couple weeks - trying to get businesses off the ground - but I promise to check in and read... AND WEIGH IN!

dixied... hope your feeling better.

Everyone else... be good to yourselves.... Lets find a way to Rock the Red team!

Water is gonna be my goal this week. I have really been slacking and my energy level is paying for it!

Back soon!

Soon2BFitChick 07-19-2009 12:12 AM

Thanks so much, you guys. :) It means alot. I try to just tell myself they all won't be little forever and to enjoy it. I could have gotten healthy before they came along and I didn't. Now they need me and I chose them and owe it to them to give them what they need first. I know the saying about taking care of me first to have me to give to them, but in truth, they must come first when they are little and you have several, at least I feel that way for the moment, and although my husband works for the State in law enforcement we also have our business which makes it possible for me to stay here with them and raise them like we are determined to do. I will definitely make a better grocery list and try to stay on a healthy track. I will always come read, I promise. And will try to post. I am hoping that when TBL starts in Sept, I think?, it will help me too. I love watching people transform. :cp:

Thank you for all your thoughts and kind words. I'm analyzing myself but the truth is, these are the few years that I have small children, they need help with everything they do. And soon I'll have two more. Then in four years all but one will be in school. My husband works from 8am to midnite several days a week so I am the only one with them until the weekend usually. It is hard but worth it and I am going to be happy to maintain for right now and lose slower if at all. My husband has little trips planned all summer, we end up eating out all the time. Grilled chicken cooked 8 different ways and salads can get old. But I promise to try for the best choices there is at a given place.

Have a great weekend and you all take care. :) Going to post my weight now. So sorry for the gain I've found myself to have. (of course I'm not completely surprised but still frustrating. grrrr.) :(

Hugs, Selina

retiredone 07-19-2009 08:26 AM

Hi Blue Team. Wow, there's so much going on in everyone's lives. It takes the keenest kind of concentration to lose weight and I'm not surprised that some of us are not losing or are gaining. Maintaining is great when there's so much on the go. I gained a few pounds over the last few weeks with DS's wedding and all the preparations that go into making a wedding. Sometimes just knowing why the weight isn't coming off is the best we can do. Selina, my hat's off to you. You are truly a dedicated mother to your little brood and good fortune has smiled on two more babies that will soon come into your life. And everyone remember this is Summer Camp where things are laid back and summery. Just being able to post keeps me reminded where I'm at and what I should be doing. So I'm going in the right direction even if I fall off the path now and then I can always crawl back on. (Who wants to stay in the ditch, anyway?) Ha, ha, I've wandered about with my words. Catch you all in the new thread.

bindersbee 07-20-2009 10:10 AM

Yeah! I finally had a good loss. I had to get very sick to get it but hey, at least there's some benefit to the ick I have. Now I've just got to try and keep from rebounding up when I feel 'normal' again.

Binder - your quote, originally to Selina , so hits home. I think I do it because it feels better to help others. Working on me is work. Its distraction instead of action. I suffer from it too. Congrats on your good loss though!

Yes mam. That can do it. And it took me up about 10 lbs before it came back down to a gain of about 5. (of course I have since added 60 to that, but dropping BC was for sure a gain issue for me.)

Thanks for the reminder!!! I really needed it to get back here!

I posted a whopping 3 lb gain. No surprize though. Next week will a loss for sure. I have regrouped. am back on track, and going to lose 1lb at a time.

Talk to you all soon.

Jacque9999 07-20-2009 06:20 PM

I'm back from my quick vacay to CA. No time to catch up on what's been going on, so no personals...hope everyone is doing well. I had a great time and didn't go off plan too badly and am ready to get right back on track. Was going to go to pilates but fell asleep for about an hour and then it was too late. Will be a bootcamp tomorrow though.
