My bf and I went for mani/pedis too! We went after our workout yesterday. I just posted a 2lb loss! YAY! I haven't lost that much in one week since before Easter when my plateau started. All of this working out is finally working! I LOVE exercise challenges! Anyway, I hope that everyone is having a great weekend! I'll be back this week, probably tomorrow!

WAY TO GO MISTY! It always feels good when the hard work pays off. I love going and getting my nails done. I go every two weeks and get my nails filled and once a month for a pedi. Both are so relaxing. If you've never had a mani/pedi I would highly suggest it.

Congrats Misty on your 2 lb loss!

I was up 1.2 lbs, but I'm not totally sure why. It's probably because I tend to be a slow loser (1 lb a week is a good loss for me) and the first week I had lost 2 lbs, and the second week 1.8 (so it may have caught up with me a bit)... I was happy that my % body fat was down and so was my visceral fat (went from 10 to 9). I'd like to get to 154 by next weigh-in. My mini-goal is to get to 150 by June 8th. I'm OK if I don't make that goal though, I'm one to reach for the moon and be OK landing in the stars (or something like that). :D

I was very happy with the amount of exercise and activity I got in last week (I earned another badge!!). The beach/badge challenge is really helping to motivate me and exercise is key for me in being able to lose weight, lose % body fat, and gain muscle mass.

Congrats to everyone for scale and non-scale victories for Week 3 and good luck with Week 4!

Hey teamies!

Just saying a quick hey before the weekend is over...I did not make it to the 3rd beach, kinda sad about that...BUT, I DID log 438 minutes of exercise last week which I consider pretty darn GOOD!

Eating was kinda tough this weekend...I did OK Friday night, modest Greek food choices, salad and 2 grilled chicken kabobs with veggies. Saturday bridal shower again, pretty good, chicken salad, 1 cup and green salad--a big plate full, and one chocolate covered strawberry. Saturday night dinner with friends at a SWANKY restaurant DH splurged on...mm...not so good diet-wise, but VERY good gourmet food wise! I won't go into details so as not to be too tempting;) it was really, really good tho. And in a beautiful outdoor garden dining room down on the river!

Today I am trying to recoup, but AGAIN 2 eating out experiences...it is hard to consistently find stuff that is reasonable on some menus. For the company baby shower tonight for my co-worker at the Spaghetti Factory I had salad with dresssing on the side and a chicken breast and about 1/2 cup of spaghetti...best I could do there. Just went for an hour walk in the heat, but I feel better. So, that's my weekend food report. Normally we do not ever have that many festive eating experiences in a 3 day period. Whew, back to a normal work week and normal eating!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Hello Black team
I made it throught the graduation. My oldest is now officially out of school. I also survived the 5 graduation parties I went to this weekend. We are having ours next weekend. So far I haven't gained, and I think I'll just work and stress the calories off next week so i should be ok. I was working Saturday to get out garden in and getting the flower gardens in shape for the party next weekend, I'm really hoping to have it outside because the people won't fit inside my house and I have a great yard for parties.
Iplanted tomatos, radishes, green beans, peas, cukumbers, 2 kinds of squash, and blue potatos. My dd wanted to plant potatos so I found some blue ones and we planted about 9 hills. We were looking and our garden is about 1/4 of the size it was years ago, but we don't do the canning and stuff we did then.
I want to wish luck to all those looking for work and moving , I hope you get your perfect job and dream home.

My weigh-in is tomorrow.. well, as it's after midnight, today. I'm excited to see how much I lost or gained. My TOM decided to visit me finally yesterday while I was at the zoo... My craving level did go down, which is great.
As it was my rest day, I didn't really work out today, but I did okay with eating, today, though. Not that much sodium, which is good..because I kept eating food full of sodium on weekend, affecting my weight on the weigh-in.

I'm at work and it's actually been crazily busy, which is very surprising, as it's usually very slow on Sunday... So I'm off back to work now. I will stop by later and check everyone else's post. =)

Hi Everyone,

Well I weighed today and was rather disappointed to have gained 1 lb. The most disappointing part was that when I weighed on Saturday morning I weighed 196.2 (197.4 today). I know I shouldn't weigh more than once a week but I was very curious. Interstingly I woke up this morning with those TOM cramps which is unusual for me since I haven't had that TOM for about 3 years. I do, however, take some female hormones and although I don't have my ovaries anymore I do still have my uterus; every so often I will have some spotting due to that. I want to think that this madness is what caused my weight to go up this week.

I've been really good with staying on plan and even have been walking alot the past 2 days and even played a little soccer yesterday! I plan to keep up the exercising and hope for better next week.

Congratulations to all who are happy with their weight loss this week and big hugs to those who are stable and/or gaining (like me).:dizzy:

I look forward to learning some bok choy recipes too!!! I'll check in again later!

;) Thought for the day:

Really be there for another

"Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force. You can see that when you think how the friends that really listen to us are the ones we move toward, and we want to sit in their radius as though it did us good, like ultraviolet rays."

-- Brenda Ueland

How well do we communicate with others? Often, when we are interacting with others, our attention in both speaking and listening is focused on meeting our own needs.

Our communication skills improve when we can open to be aware of the needs of the other person. When we listen, we can release the filters that serve our own needs for security and receive the message with our compassionate heart. And when we speak, we can choose words that the listener is able to receive. True communication happens when we harmonize with the other individual.

"So when you are listening to somebody, completely, attentively, then you are listening not only to the words, but also to the feeling of what is being conveyed, to the whole of it, not part of it."

-- Jiddu Krishnamurti

"The first duty of love is to listen."

-- Paul Tillich

So I actually will have some time to focus on myself this week. AAU is over for my team, which gives me back every other weekend and two additional nights a week!!! Only issue right now is that I am broke so I can't go grocery shopping until I get paid. Of course the only food in the house is the junk food my BF gets. Serving sizes are going to be oober important for the next few days. I want to jog a couple 5Ks this week as well so I'm ready for the 3FC 5K this weekend!!!

JuliaDH 05-19-2008 10:44 AM

So now that I feel I have a handle on getting enough cardio. I am beginning strength training! Felt silly that I needed to ask DH what was a rep and what was a set. But he is being patient since he has wanted me to do this for a long time! But he wants me to try stuff he does. NOPE...I work slow and have a beginners program that I want him to help me with. He thinks its not challenging enough for me. But I have requested that he be supportive and let me work at my own pace and confidence. Or else that nasty stubborn streak in me will kick in and I just wont do anything!

smurf2110 05-19-2008 12:05 PM

That is AWESOME Misty!!

JuliaHood-Good luck with the strengthening!

DH job schedule changed this week so he is home in the mornings and doesn't get home until later in the evenings so I have to reverse my workout schedule. I refuse to do yoga/pilates with him in the house-he enjoys it too much-so I got in a 40 min. walk this morning and will do my yoga later this afternoon. LOTS of yard work still to do with hopes of getting it all done by Wednesday night.

Gonna head out and do some grovery shopping in a bit and I want to try some of the yummy stuff posted on our food thread. Because of living so far from the city/closest food store I can't really participate in the weekly veggie challenge (we have to do mostly frozen/canned veggies) but totally appreciate the suggestions you all have offered.

Weigh in is Wednesday and I really hope this water retention is gone by then-I hold onto so much water when it warms up.

JuliaDH 05-19-2008 01:19 PM

Smurf - Likes it to much? You mean watching or participating? I feel that way about some exercises too! Just dont want to do infront of DH. His enjoyment is to much of a distractions especially when he is still in the dog house!

Switzie6 05-19-2008 02:41 PM

Hi everyone! It's so hard to keep up with these posts, I feel like it should be a full time job ;)
Not going great here. My exercise has been great, I haven't fallen off that at all. The problem has been food! I have a few days that are great then I end up binging and run into the whole I'll start tomorrow cycle.
I was thinking of relaxing on the calorie counting for right now, I feel like it became too much of an obsession and led to the binging. If I feel to constricted then I find myself binging because I feel like I'm missing out on "normal" life. I think I need to first work on developing a healthy relationship with food, right now it's either my friend or enemy (depending on how I'm feeling at the moment) but either way it's always on my mind. So my thought is I should work on eating whole real foods and eating when I'm hungry. It may slow down my weight loss for now but once I feel like I have a better relationship with food and my body then maybe I'll start counting calories again. What do people think? Does this sound like a good plan? I really don't want to give up so I need to change something because right now it's not working, and I mainly think it's because I need to get my mindset right.
